Most tasters land in the same place: a woody, spice-driven Guadeloupe agricole where the wood and dried fruit shine but that 66.9% can bite. Expect cedar, caramel, dried apricot, chocolate and a peppery, slightly sulphury edge. One member called it a "complex rum - very long aftertaste." A drop of water opens up cherry and cask notes; some feel the alcohol isn't fully tucked in.

18.11.2023 Another retasting and I stick to my initial score ☺️ --------- Price to quality is very good on this particular rum. The nose is fruity with pastries, spices trailed by llightly roasted wood and caramel. Almost like walking into a bakery on a Sunday morning. The palate is oily and well balanced between the wood, fruits and spices. The finish is long, warm and lightly dry with wood, spices and dried fruit.

Yes, the alcohol really hits hard. Foreground is a woody-spicy nose with dried apricot and some sulfur, reminiscent of sherry. Also some blackberry and cherry. Above that, spicy wood, cedarwood, and leather. Also a chocolate note and some green sugarcane. On the palate, the alcohol is very present at the start. Comes salty-bitter with plenty of pepper, nutmeg, and bitter orange. At the back, licorice and increasingly grassy. The finish remains bitter and grassy. At the end, the sugarcane also comes through. Too bad the alcohol is not so well integrated.

A pleasant, very woody and intense piece from Damoiseau. It does not reach the quality of "bottles in wooden boxes," but it is still a piece that is definitely worth trying. A very intense experience, which is not a certainty with juicy things.

Caramel, blackberry, chocolate, vanilla brownies on the nose with roasted nuts. Surprisingly easy-drinking on the palate and not too alcoholic for its young age and nearly 67%. Sweet, bitter, and salty at the same time with notes of mocha, fruit bread, and lots of spices. Very tasty.

The wood is the first thing that hits on this rum with a sulfur note that I find a lot in high-proof aged ones. It's almost like fresh plank.

The alcohol is not well integrated. Too pungent on the nose. In the mouth, it tastes srhr sharp at first. This is followed by roasted flavors, a chocolaty note and a woody note. Towards the finish very pleasant.

Very pleasant aroma full of spices, alcohol is almost not felt, the taste initially makes the tongue tingle and then goes into a very long pleasant finish, where the flavors of caramel and dark chocolate blend.

I had this at tasting selection , on first nose it's harsh and very overpowering in the grassy and wood notes. I was told to add a drop of water and it changed complexity completely , don't get me wrong the grass stayed but immense flavours of chocolate , cherry and cask notes . At this percentage it's dynamite the only thing that lets it down is price but that's why is scores 9 and not 10... 9nly joking 10
