Taste it blind and you might guess an old plum eau-de-vie, not a rum — one taster nearly bet on it. Prune and red wine lead, over dry wood, leather, caramel and a herbaceous sugarcane edge. The palate opens sweet and rich, then thins out fast to a short, tannic, very dry finish. An odd, wine-soaked curiosity more than a classic rum.

7,8:On the nose, sugarcane juice with brown sugar, red wine notes like red fruits, prunes, raisins bump into our nosetrils, dark, woody, spicy. On aeration, cherry and currants join, herbaceous cane, some caramel, as the fruits are candied now 7,2:On the palate, the attack is sweet with red wine notes like dried fruits (prunes), diluted and slightly metallic, the cane is herbaceous, dark with licorice, as the wood roasted with caramelized brown sugar, leather, spicy with vanilla. 6,5:The finish is short, very dry, tannic, with spicy wood, red wine notes and faint sugarcane... #7309 16.09.2026 Running a few samples after a terrible night because of a tetanus shot I got yesterday. Listening to some nice Trance on Spotify. It is always nice to be brought back to the beginnings of my rum tasting. Memories of what I today would call light rums, but back then considered really nice. Medium intense profile with sugarcane, spice, fruits, wine, varnish, caramel, wood, licorice, leather, tannins and a dry palate.

This rum definitely shows that it is very old. On the nose, besides wood, you can also recognize leather, plum, and red fruits. On the palate then plenty of wood, but also some caramel, fruits, and red wine.

A more Demerara profile on the first nose, then the agricole side is well present with dry herbs, prunes and plum, leather. A dark but balanced nose thanks to a nice acidity. The more you smell it, the better it is. Alcohol in the mouth and the richness of the nose, then a watery side and everything has already disappeared. Caramelized aromas, prune and wood persist for a long time. Blindfolded I would have bet on an old plum rather than a rum, surprising!

Color dark amber to brown. Aroma fruity, sweetness of sugarcane, caramel, red wine, red fruit, currants. Taste wood, caramel, spicy, vanilla, red wine, alcohol not felt, a bit lacking depth. Finish medium long wood, caramel, red wine. Interesting piece of history.

Nose of fresh prune, slight acetone; on the palate you can still feel this woody prune eau-de-vie with a certain fattiness but not really rum-typical!
