Toffee, vanilla and dark chocolate lead, with dates, raisins and a light spice edge from this 8-year Peruvian column-still rum. Most tasters find it soft, sweet and easy going down, if a touch too sweet and short. A few pick up a slightly artificial back-aroma note. Pleasant and mellow rather than deep — one reviewer called it "basic, classic and boring."

In the nose, gently lemon or citrus and a lot of some thinner, which disappears and leaves nuts and raisins. Taste completely different than the nose - dense, sweet, honey-like consistency, smooth, many flavors overlapping (nuts, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, ...).

Very artificial on all levels. Both on the nose and on the palate the rum reminds me more of gummy bananas, Dr. Oetker baking aroma and pretty much the cheapest discount chocolate you can find. It tastes like cheap base alcohol. Sorry but no thanks.

Overall much better than expected. It’s fresh and sweet, but not overly sweetened. It’s also intense, smooth and full bodied. Aromas and flavors is fruity, fresh and spicy with figs, dates, raisins and tea recognizable.

Today a few rums from Rum Paradise, but all are below average. This Rum Nation is also a bit too sweet. On the nose you can detect vanilla and chocolate. On the palate very spicy, but too much sweetness thanks to vanilla and caramel.

👃 Tout est plutôt léger. Épices, bois, chocolat liquide, sirupeux, fruits secs, dattes, sucre roux, caramélisé, cannelle, menthe séchée, assez frais et rond, un peu de vernis synthétique. 😋 Sucre vanillé, sirop, dilué, fruits confits et secs, dattes, agrumes, banane flambée. Quand même bien sirupeux. Fraîcheur de thé qui passe par là. ⛳ Courte, caramel chaud dilué, épices, cannelle, chocolat, alcool un peu présent malgré le faible ABV. 💡 L'un des seuls rums du Pérou que j'ai pu déguster, tant bien même ce n'est pas un terroir qui m'interpelle jusqu'à maintenant.

Overall: Subtle to a fault Nose: Almost imperceptible but I get a hint of toffee and vanilla. Mouth: Toffee and some coffee notes. Finish: Short with fading notes of the toffee, vanilla, and coffee. This is an easy rum to like because it’s so easy drinking. It just lacks the body and flavor staying power to be anything really interesting. Like so many reasonably priced Spanish style rums it dissipates quickly and despite the long aging has a very light character.

Quite a particular rum. Strong taste of alcohol but leaves a balance of sweetness and spice together. Must say that it is pleasant to have in short sips and possibly good combination for cocktails. Overall it is not a bad experience but can be better. Not suitable for those who are new to rum.

Now, try to imagine tasting this rum, like I do. You put your nose closer to the glass with this golden color liquid. You smell the content and suddenly, you appear in the country called Peru. You can smell the rainforest nature with clear view on the forested mountains, you can see wooden houses of the local people. The smell of the air is refreshing with something earthly in it, it is the smell our ancestors breathed long time ago. The taste of the liquid is sweet, but strong, woody and smokey. Just let´s your tribe sits with you around the campfire and let the rum control your emotions, let it help you to relax. In a while the local shaman starts to sing Icaro and you dive into this song continuing drinking in peace. After your glass is empty, you can wake up. ;)

A rum I find hard to assess and have read other reviews about for the first time. The first impression (fruity, sweet) could not be extended to other flavor nuances. Both in smell and taste rather boring, almost artificial; finish short and unspectacular. Possibly suitable for mixing.
