Red wine, sherry and red fruit lead the way — this is an oloroso finish doing most of the talking, with dried fruit, chocolate, leather and coffee filling in behind wood and tannins. One taster's favourite bit is the nose; strawberry and sherry jump out before the palate turns drier, woodier and a touch sour. At 55%, the alcohol sits surprisingly well integrated for a cane-juice pot still.

#6561 28.03.2026 - Part 2 The first online tasting of 2026 of the group we had in Shanghai. Funny that we are now living in different parts of the world again. Singapore, Sweden, UK, Denmark and Thailand 😊 Thanks for the samples Mike. This is a pretty OK rum that is heavy on the wood. The nose is medium intense with wood, light tannins, cherry, light chocolate and sherry. The palate is oily and dry with sherry, raisin, light leather, honey, cherry and chocolate. the finish is long and peppery with dried fruit, light grass, chocolate and sherry.

Rum Friendly Club Advent Calendar Day 5. A soft Sherry nose with red fruits, almost strawberry, and the wood is supportive. The palate starts strong with alcohol, old wood, and vanilla but the impressive red fruits from the nose are subdued and struggle to emerge. I sense a red wine side that bothers me a little. The finish continues from the palate with more woody bitterness and a slight acidity. A magnificent nose, unfortunately tempered by a more ordinary palate. Fans of Sherry cask finishes will love it.

Color dark amber. Aroma of red fruit, sweetness, caramel, acidity, sherry. Taste wood, caramel, sweetness, red wine, red fruit, spices, mild acidity, coffee, dark chocolate. Finish medium long with wood, spices, coffee, red wine.

Solid Mauritius, heavily influenced by oloroso. Red fruit, sherry and red wine tones dominate in the nose and taste, there is also wood and some chocolate. I probably wouldn't drink the whole bottle, but once in a while, why not.

Ať first impression I feel the typical warmth of agricole… The color is dark oak, more dark brown. The nose contains fruits and spices mixed with woody tones. The taste - for me is quite strong - warm, little bit alcoholic, but doesn’t hurt . There are tones of red wine, chocolate, wood…quite interesting is that it’s some kind of sour..definitely not sweet.. I wouldnt buy the whole bottle, because of the price:advantages ratio- i would pick up different bottle..but as a sample….it is fine, interesting, so next one please.

The nose is dominated by oloroso finish. The taste is very winey, lots of spices and tannins. The base is quite subdued, but in the end I like it.

Very interesting, I wouldn't have guessed the origin. Beautiful dark brown color. Beautifully runs down the side of the glass. In the scent wood and sherry. In the taste you can nicely feel the wood and distinct sherry. Medium-long finish and at the end you can nicely feel cherry and slightly bitter. Alcohol well integrated

I've never seen this bottle and Chamarel would be the last thing I'd guess 😄... A nice piece with notes of dried fruit, wood, leather, coffee, chocolate, spices, red wine. It seems very smooth and sweet to me, I wouldn't have guessed 55% at all 👍
