Overripe mango and a whiff of glue lead the way, wrapped in vanilla, toffee and roasted coconut chips, with oak tannins and a sour cocoa-nib edge underneath. This is a fruity, lightly funky Long Pond at full cask strength — several members find the 67% well integrated but still call it "biestig" (a bit feral). Fruit-sweet on the palate, though a few say the last bit of complexity is missing.

8,6:On the nose, toasted/roasted oak notes like toffee, chocolate, spicy vanilla, tropical fruits like mango, coconut, citrus fruits like orange, some peaches, slightly fermented, overripe, creamy, floral molasses, medicinal, balanced, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, sweet notes with brioche, fruitcake arise, cocoa, warm spices like cinnamon, banana joins, molasses is earthy. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is intense, medicinal with light esters, glue, slightly alcoholic, fruity with overripe tropical fruits like mango, coconut, litchi, later banana and pineapple, citrus and dried fruits, some melon hints, peaches, some candied, sweet, the wood/oak is roasted with dark chocolate, pastry, brioche, caramel, nuts, spicy with vanilla, green pepper. 8,5:The finish is long, dry&tannic, with toasted oak notes like pastry, brioche, cocoa, toffee, peppery, smoky, medicinal with glue, slightly metallic, fruity with slightly fermented tropical fruits, peaches, creamy..

Sweet basic structure, but not without force. Vanilla and wood, which enter into a pleasant interplay with the fruit flavors. The final complexity is missing, but it remains an alcoholic-intense, but still good drinkable rum.

Then a nice Long Pond afterwards following the 3,000th barrel and oak, but also toffee and vanilla on the nose, plus some coconut. On the palate, lots of vanilla and caramel, but also esters and a bit of dark chocolate.

Could be an ITP or VRW... Light ester and glue notes meet slightly overripe and fermented mango, toasted coconut chips, sour bitter cocoa nibs and some green pepper and toffee with medium oak tannins. Overall also quite alcoholic but still drinkable. Not bad but not a highlight either.
