Rhum J.M 2013
Most tasters land in the "very good, not a priority buy" zone. It's a 10-year Martinique agricole where the cane grassiness gets nicely wrapped in ex-bourbon wood — dried apricot, dates, cocoa, orange peel and white pepper. A couple felt the 43.8% left it a touch light and reduced for what the nose promised. Balanced, toasted, long finish.

How does Rhum J.M 2013 taste?
Aggregated from 54 community reviews.
Elegant, woody Martinique agricole with dried fruit Well-liked as a refined, fruit-and-wood agricole with cocoa, dates and pepper. The main gripe: a few wanted more power, finding the palate lighter than the gorgeous nose suggests.

A rum tasted at Rhum Fest in 2024. A lovely nose of citrus (lime) and tropical fruits, cocoa and spices. The palate is not to be outdone, with figs and red fruits. The wood is very well integrated. Long, fruity finish.

Superb chocolate/tobacco on the nose, followed by a lovely citrus bouquet with hints of lemon and lime. On the palate, it's first the woodiness so characteristic of Martinique that comes through, but it's not long before it's joined by very good caramelized chocolate. Then we're enchanted by a beautiful basket of tropical fruit, still dominated by lemon. I just love it. Very nice finish in the same vein as before, with a hint of dried dates. 👍

Great nose!!! Gingerbread dried and tropical fruit, peppery spice, grassy/herbal. Heavily roasted and coffee. Balanced, molten, warm and powerful for 44%. In the mouth then caramel, nice spice, now really a lot of white pepper. Very nice finish. I've never really been able to grasp the typical profile of JM and regardless of age, strength and single cask or not, I sometimes like them more and sometimes less. This is the first JM that I can say is typical of the distillery. Sounds logical, doesn't it? 😉

Tasted the fest rum after a line up of 8 rums(Jam , guyana )very old and quite heavy So I found it quite dry. Woody/toasted feel, notes of choco mocha. Pleasant to drink, but not one of my purchasing priorities.

excellent J.M!

On the nose red fruits, wood, roasted, spices . On the palate the same rounded notes and a medium, enveloping finish

Un bon rhum agricole, très parfumé au nez, en bouche les notes boisé et fumé prédomine avec une légère note de pain d'épices et de chocolat. L'alcool est très bien intégré mais aurait mérité d'être un peu plus puissant.

The first rhum on our trip to Martinique. Bought in Carrefour for about 75 EUR. I don't know if it's the environment, but it's a great bottling, wood, dates, fruitiness, coffee, the strong agricole flavour is overpowered (very tasty) by the ex-bourbon cask. It's going to be a great week here!

A rum tasted at Home :) A lovely nose of cocoa and tropical fruits, realy nice Martinique . The palate is powerful and round with notes woody, nutty , peppery, enough feel grass agricole . The wood is very well integrated. Long finish.

Well-balanced nose and palate for this new vintage. Long finish, but slightly bitter aftertaste.

Finale lungo. È stata una bellissima sorpresa.

Nice nose, but once again a rum that's far too reduced. The palate is far too light to convince me. A pity.
Review by Christophe Milot
Nose: gourmet and delicate, with notes of candied fruit. Scents of dark chocolate orangette, split vanilla bean and roasted tonka bean give it a gourmand quality. Palate: powerful and round, with notes of candied fruit such as orange, pineapple and fig. It evolves gracefully on vanilla and cinnamon. A smooth woody note wraps the whole harmoniously. Finish: powerful, with notes of toast and vanilla. Source : Rhum J.M
