Nobilis Diamond No. 39 SWR 1997
Demerara fans chasing the heavy, coffee-and-cocoa SWR style will feel at home here. The nose is the highlight almost everyone agrees on: caramelized coconut, banana, chocolate, dried fruit and a whiff of glue. The palate turns darker and drier — mocha, dark chocolate, oak, burnt sugar — with the 51.3% well tucked in. Just know the mouth doesn't quite match that stunning nose.

How does Nobilis Diamond No. 39 SWR 1997 taste?
Summarized by AI from community reviews.
Heavy coffee-and-cocoa Demerara, glorious nose Loved for a gorgeous nose and warm, balanced dark profile. The recurring gripe: the palate loses some depth and complexity next to the aroma, and a few prefer the SBS Skeldons.

"Sample with the point "by Andi blindverkostet. I'm not going to beat around the bush, I'm just going to say it straight away: this is the new SWR 2001 from TRC in a glass. 😉 Right, Andi? Please solve it! 😊 Edit after next sip: I get fickle about the strength on the palate but the smoothness on the nose and switch to the SWR 2001 from 1423 (S.B.S), specifically the Kirsch bottling at 54.1%. On the other hand, the coffee note is too weak ... And this is not a 90-point rum either ... Damn, now I'm lost after all. I'll stick with SWR 2001 - solid, but by no means spectacular. Andi? Well, at least I was right about SWR. But what worries me is a) that I hadn't blindly rated the rum with 91 points before and b) where this rating has gone now.

Coffee, dark chocolate, bitter and woody on the finish. I don't like coffee
Review by cigares
A beautiful nose, with vegetal and spicy notes, cedar wood (cigar box) and roasted meat. The palate is a little acqueous (reduction?) at first, but the aromas of wood, molasses and toast soon take possession of the palate with great assurance and an interesting bitterness. The finish lingers on bitterness and wood, leaving the other aromas a little to the fore. A very fine Skeldon, surely excellent on its own, but which suffers from direct comparison with other representatives of this prestigious mark.

10.02.2024 tasting event at the Nobilis Warehouse, Haderslev. Retasting and I really love the overall profile. ----------------------- #4232 03.09.2023 this was a nice blind tasting where I saw the black Glencairn tasting glasses for the first time. This is a great release. Intense yet extremely well balanced once rested. ABV and wood are amazingly well integrated. Medium fruity with nice spices and a warm oily palate. Draws really nice and slow moving curtains in the glass. The empty glass has light mint and caramel.
Review by Galli33
Buuuh this is a really nice Rum 😌 Delicious, complex and heavy 😊 I definitely like the change from sweet milk chocolate in the nose to a more bitter dark chocolate on the palate. The intensive coffee/mocha notes gives is a heavy and creamy taste. The finish is quite long but more on the bitter, herb side.👌🏻

Wow! A killer. After the marathon for everyone at the Olympic Games, I wanted a drink that would make an impact without being too strong. We're there, coffee, spices, dark chocolate caramel, ultra well-integrated alcohol. Warm and oily, perfect for a good old-fashioned wake-up call :)
Review by Johannes
The nose I find really good! The palate is nice and round, but I lack a little complexity. Finish is medium long.
Review by Thunderbird
A Skeldon of the heavy, powerful kind. Woody, spicy, mocha-like aromas and dark chocolate predominate. But the whole thing is so well balanced that it is neither tiring nor bitter. A cross-comparison with the S.B.S is still to come. I like this Nobilis bottling very much
Review by crazyforgoodbooze
Gigantic nose of caramelized coconut, banana, chocolate and citrus fruits. The taste doesn't quite live up to expectations and is rather bitter, woody and leathery. On the other hand, the finish has really lovely notes of orange peel, coconut and milk chocolate!

85 points. I had slightly higher expectations for this rum and have a preference for the SBS Skeldon releases. The nose is pretty promising with vanilla, coffee, dried fruit and milk chocolate standing out. On the palate there’s an addition of burnt sugar but the rum misses a certain complexity. Still a very good rum though.
Review by DomM
Nice bottling. Palate lacks a bit of power and depth. Still a very well rounded sipper sporting dark notes and dried fruits. Well balanced with very noticeable wood influence without being overaged or bitter in any way.
Review by Timo Groeger
Wow, I'm really celebrating this one right now, definitely a super tasty rum. It was really a nice Guyana, very roasted, lots of coffee and cappuccino, but also a pretty good note of vanilla. Thanks to the community
Review by TheRhumhoe
Nobilis tries its hand at Diamond in the style of Skeldon. The nose offers a lovely heavy sweetness with roasted wood, milk chocolate, coffee (gourmet cappuccino style) but also brown notes of burnt sugar (see cola), nuts, dried fruit (prune, grape) spices (cinnamon, pepper, vanilla, light licorice), leather and glue. It's rich, dark and enticing all at once. The palate falls slightly short of expectations. The attack is very smooth and rich, rather supple but lacking depth and complexity. Dark notes dominate, leaving no room for doubt (wood, roasted notes, leather, spices, licorice, dark chocolate, cappuccino coffee, burnt sugar, nuts, dried fruit). All the same, there's that Demerara elegance and sweetness that make this rum extremely drinkable, with very well-integrated alcohol. The finish is not the longest. It's more bitter, concentrated on aromas of oak, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, spices and burnt sugar. Some dried fruit and slightly herbaceous notes are also present. This Skeldon may not be the most transcendent of rums, but it's still an excellent drinking rum, a little expensive but very pleasant.

Approaching 300 reviews and itd to time review another SWR mark rum, one of my favorite mark in the whole rum world. This rum needs some time in the glass before it opens up. On the nose: Woody, vanilla and roasted notes at first. Then you get some coffee notes, light chocolate notes, dried fruit notes and light baking spices. Little bit of caramel or burnt sugar notes in the background. Taste: Coffee, vanilla, woody notes and roasted notes. Little bit of dark chocolate, some burnt sugar and some dried fruits with orange peel notes in the end. So good and the alcohol is integrated perfectly. Finish: Warm. Dark chocolate, light coffee notes and little bit of woody notes. Little bit of orange peel notes. Dry finish. This SWR mark did not dissapoint at all and i can really recommend this rum.

On the nose solvent, mocha, dark chocolate and abundant blackened banana peel. In the mouth it stings once briefly (but pleasantly) and then it continues with abundant chocolate (100%) and coffee grounds. Dry, warm. Very long finish. A very nice, very drinkable Demerara. I have not had a better continental aged one yet. From the flavor profile, it squints to the mature (and very expensive) grandes from the 60s and 70s, but I have not had too many of them.😀😀 Very good!😁
Review by Lukas Jäger
What a horny nose! Glue, chocolate, coconut and banana, here the full clavitur is played! Great complexity, as one is accustomed to from good Demeraras. On the palate, unfortunately, a bit weaker, less complex and quite woody. The alcohol to this surprisingly present, overall much weaker than the nose, dienlich could enjoy for hours. All in all, however, a good bottling of a anyway very tasty mark!
Review by Jakob
Shows plenty of sweetness from chocolate, caramel and vanilla sugar. The maturation brings a pleasant heaviness to the profile, with wood, coffee, orange peel and dark spices adding aromatic variety. Despite the wide range of aromas, I find the overall complexity a little lacking, with a somewhat dominant tendency towards a heavy café au lait sweetness. But it remains a very good rum that is a pleasure to drink.
Review by Skyfly
A very pleasant, mild yet extremely complex Diamond that I would have guessed as FSQ blind (especially on the nose). While writing, I can still taste the mocha. Besides that, you taste a really balanced combination of dark aromas and dried fruits.
Review by Felix Reiber
The nose of this Diamond, which is my vintage, impresses me a lot. Truly top class. I get dried fruits, wood, brown caramel, baking spices, coffee, and vanilla. Banana and coconut revive the fruity side and finish with roasted, caramelized aromas. The palate is, compared to the smell, quite unspectacular. There are notes of wood, dark chocolate, burnt sugar, coffee, and dried fruits with vanilla showing a sweet, fruity component. Then again roasted notes, leather, and oak. The long and complex finish first lives off wood, mocha, dark chocolate, herbs, and oak. Then caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, and a bit of orange zest join in. The delicate complexity ends with tannins. Many thanks to @Skyfly for the great sample 😋

I had couple of drams from this bottle and I must say I like this rum quite a lot. It's not that punchy, not overwhelming, but sometimes that's what I need - a complex, delicate and flavourful rum, that is at the same time very easy to drink. Suitable even as a "background" for conversation with good friends. Flavour profile as I got it: Roasted coffee beans, coca, wood, sweet caramel topping, dark dried fruits. Lovely! Ps: needs some time to fully open up in the glass.

Warm and with lots of spices in the mouth. Also brown sugar, I'm really craving pancakes now. A certain fruitiness to it. The alcohol is well integrated. Warm medium to long finish with a hint of coffee. Thank you Gunnar for the Skeldon samples 👌
Review by Piotr Ignasiak
At first i noted that its overtoasted and on the edge of being smoky, with time it gets more balanced, the bitter notes become coffee like, a Little bit of fruit shows up and some sweetness. Nice finish and overall a very good one.
Review by Tim
A worthy representative from the SWR mark, but unfortunately not top-notch. While the nose is round, harmonious, and complex, the palate presents a harsh picture with too much leather or cardboard for me.
Review by Pavel Spacek
I love Skeldon! Anyway this one is just slightly about the average
Review by daiquiri_lab
A nice Guyana that smells of brown sugar and nail polish remover and a palate that gives some purple fruit (mostly raisins and figs), cinnamon, and brown sugar notes. I thought it was a little low intensity for the age and price, but it made a very good daiquiri. Water does open it up slightly, but that introduced a bit of mustiness as well. Overall not my favorite bottling.
Review by Alexander Rasch
I like very much. The nose is just super pleasant and shows a nice complexity. On the palate, lots of wood and dark flavors as I expect. The coffee / mocha flavors are nicely integrated and not quite as present as eg the 2001 SWRs. But long in the finish. Unfortunately priced ne hard box this bottling.

What a beautiful inviting nose. Christmas is calling! Sweetness and winter spices all-over. A Christmas cake in a glass! Thick slow tears in the glass. Promising. Warm and lots of spices in the mouth. Brown sugar as well, I really want pancakes now. Some fruitiness to go with it. Alcohol beautifully integrated. Warm medium to long finish with a hint of coffee. Very good rum, extremely good nose. For this price tag the complexity might just be slightly underperforming. Then again...it's almost Christmas!
Review by Blockzeitwilli
The very nice nose (dried fruits, caramel, chocolate, coffee) raised my expectations, but the taste (coffee, caramel, dark chocolate) and the medium-long finish unfortunately could not keep up, especially considering the price-performance ratio.

Extremely good rum. Lots of coffee and brown sugar. Very exciting, mocha, caramel, chocolate. Very very good

Starting with a warm note. I like the coffee/chocolate note at the beginning. Then the finish is bitter/roasty on the palate. Not for the whole evening.

Woody/coffee, dry on the tongue, can do
