Der gelagerte Einsteigerrum von Mhoba. Eine einladende Nase, die bereits die esterlastigen, aber auch abrundenden Noten der Lagerung anbietet. Mir kam der Rum für 43° überdurchschnittlich intensiv vor, allerdings ist er auch sehr trocken und scharf im Mund.

Un Mhoba dans son expression la plus standarde mais qui ne perd rien de son originalité. Le nez suscite toujours autant de débats entre les fruits très mûrs (banane, ananas), les notes de colle, de caoutchouc et de beurre ainsi que les notes épicées, toastées et caramélisées. Ce n’est pas aussi extrême que d’autres embouteillages, mais cela reste accessible (ou rédhibitoire pour certains). L’attaque en bouche poursuit sur cette trame décalée, à la fois fruitée, végétale, médicinale, caoutchouteuse, caramélisée et épicée (gingembre notamment). Derrière cela se cache la canne à sucre du terroir sud-africain, qui laisse une belle texture sirupeuse s’appuyer en bouche. L’alcool est globalement bien intégré, mais quelques degrés supplémentaires n’auraient pas fait de mal. La finale est relativement longue, imprégnant le palais de ses arômes si atypiques. On retrouve le gingembre, la canne à sucre, les fruits tropicaux, les épices, les notes toastées et médicinales ainsi que du tabac. L’ensemble est un peu plus sec mais fait preuve de rondeur. Un bon Mhoba de base pour initier quelqu’un à un produit qui sort de l’ordinaire.
