Funk-chasers who like their pineapple weird will get the most out of this. The nose screams esters, glue and solvent — several tasters guessed a young Hampden before Mhoba. Sugarcane-juice base gives it an agricole edge, with charred pineapple, smoke and roasted wood. Oddly, the actual pineapple sits in the background. This should be a Rum to generate some discussion, one either likes it or hates it. I never had a Pineapple infused Rum and was quite curious. Smell and taste remind me of a joung higher ester Jamaican, the Pineapple is there but complements this instead of being to forward. I also believe that this one is not sweetened, which helps in my opinion. This is something to sip when one needs some relaxation without stressing mind and senses, it is nice and not overly complex. I believe there might also be some cocktail applications.

The wacky Easter calendar day 5 "Oh man " was my first thought when I came into contact with this drop... The nose is not really pleasing Cheap glue mixed with green very green pineapple (could also be green banana 🤣) Uhu Sekundenbab describes it best. On the palate ... briefly shaken some sweetness, some wood ... and ester but not the delicious ester ... a little fruit via banana and pineapple (very little) Not getting warm with it....

So this is not your classical pineapple- or spiced rum. The story I've heard the pineapple is added BEFORE the distilling. So that explains its not too pinapple-y. Mhoba is pretty funky and thus a bit weird. Very jamaicany but sugarcane based. Not for everyone I guess. Review comes later. Tasted this a few years ago. Just got a whole bottle to share with friends. Retaste: all of the above. Weirdly smoky too. Does not taste like a spice or infused rum. It's the real deal. Greenish. Red peppers. It's weird but I like it. Pretty unique stuff.

31.07.2020 Enjoying our summer holiday at this nice resort having friends over for barbecue and rum. Notes Light in colour. Nose Pineapple, roasted, cinnamon, faint wood, light glue. Palate Light, sweet, pineapple, roasted, cinnamon, light herbs, faint smoke, glue. Finish Short, sweet, pineapple, glue, roasted, light wood.

From the nose, I would definitely have guessed Jamaica. Some ester and solvent. Light fruit. On the mouth then spicy mild with slight sharpness in the finish. I don’t notice any pineapple. Overall a bit flat.

The strange (but interesting) Easter Rum Calendar, No. 5: Nose with ester, solvent, fermented fruits. Then some smoke on the palate. Sweet fruit also present, but I didn't think of pineapple. Thought of a Jamaican with some kind of finish. Yeah, Mhoba, I could have guessed that. Once you know, it's recognizable 😉. Still don't find pineapple.

Easter calendar from Artur Day 5: Didn’t guess Mhoba blind. The ester notes are clearly recognizable. Glue as well. Plus some vanilla, sulfur (matchstick) and herbs (thyme). Quite mild in the mouth and it reflects the nose. Maybe a bit more wood and herbs. Slight sweetness too. I wouldn’t have guessed pineapple, although ironically the rum is pineapple infused. Still pretty good in the blind test.

So… pineapple - not really in the nose. The taste is pleasant and sweet and easy to drink but not a home run. I was curious but a tad disappointed - more a curiosity

Wow, wild thing on the nose. The pineapple is long gone, you could say. Estragony, buttery, overripe to downright rotten. Yet strangely good. On the palate, I miss the pineapple though. Juicy and sweet, but rather flat in aroma. Not nearly as edgy as the nose suggests. Don't quite know what to make of it. Big and very unique nose, thin taste. Should try it in a Daiquiri.

Nose a bit disappointing, a bit of rubber but I don't find much fruit. Quite silky on the palate, seems very light, quite sneaky I think. Light finish with pineapple poking through.

Definetily among the better ones of it’s trade. A great addition to for any suitable cocktail. A lot of punch at only 43%. And even neat it is really nice, overripe fruits (ananas being the most present one, obviously), Ester, vanilla, roasted wood and some vinegar. Overall not a daily sipper but the now empty bottle surely will be missed.

For me the weakest sample of today's online tasting, but that doesn't mean it's completely bad. The pineapple hint is minimal for me. Neither in taste nor in aroma. I don't need the bottle but I enjoyed tasting it.

Can't find my vintage. But I'm tasting 2023FP1 Nose: Very gently. Pure, fresh, natural pineapple juice. Some butter, lemon candy. Hint of smoke, touch of esters & solvents, little bit of eucalypt & sandal oil. Like cough drops (candies). Very unusual. Palate: Little bit sweet, smoky, fresh natural pineapple juice. Buttery texture, lemon marmalade, grilled pineapple, roasted wood. And again, this little bit reminds cough syrup. But it's very tasty ) Aftertaste: medium-long, toasted wood, smoky, sweety, juicy. Conclusion: very unusual, but so interesting infused rum. I think, this one, it's the best, what I ever tasted from infused rums. Very natural, tasty and incredible ballanced. Really good !

Tasted 04-05-2024 Nosing Nail polish , very woody , charred oak , tobacco Tasting Slight pineapple but the acetone and ethanol takes over . This has a very sharp pepper finish which is delightful and different. Lovely suprise

Day 5 of TheDunderHut's crazy Easter calendar. Again a very exciting experience to have tasted this sample blind. From the first nose solvent dominated and I would have guessed a Hampden. From the taste I discarded that again. I definitely wouldn't have guessed Mhoba. Nor did I perceive anything of pineapple. Very strange. Unfortunately I find it more than mediocre. In my opinion I also imagine it has a dosage.

Very intense nose. Esters and solvent. After this is pineapple Taste Intense esters and iodine, then fruitiness. After 3rd or 4th sip fruitiness go to next level even some red fruits show up with lovely sweetness. Finish is super long with fruits, pineapple and some sugar cane It is very flouverfull and intense rum. Something I love, but it is definitely not for everyone. Pineapple is there, but it is in background

Palate: Lighter mouthfeel, vegetal, Charred Pineapple Bark, Cinnamon, Cumin, BBQ Smoke, Glue, Young Wood Finish: Shorter, Glue, Vanilla, Overly charred pineapple, bitter grill char, Glue, Young wood. Rating: 3/10 This is a first for me, not being a fan of a Mhoba product but this just misses the mark for me. Young green woodnotes, a very bitter and astringent char flavor.

Read full review ›The rum has a pleasant 43% alcohol content. To produce "Frankýho ananas" (Frank's Pineapple), they used 60% Mhoba Glass Cask rum and two other white pot still rums. Each is infused with fresh and roasted pineapple. It is the only flavored rum in the Mhoba series. The first impression of the aroma is a tropical fruit explosion. As the name suggests, it is mainly pineapple, but also banana. The aroma reminds me a little of 8-year-old Hampden. Only with a sweeter undertone. It could be interesting to compare these two directly. After finishing the rum, I let the glass stand and smell it again after a while. The fruity aroma of fresh pineapple slowly fades away. Over time, it smells more like candied pineapple, and after a while, wood begins to dominate. First sip The first sip reveals the true agricole style of the rum. The fruity tone is not noticeable from the start; rather, the young rum expresses itself with its pungency, and the fruit comes later. It reminds me a little of eating a creamy banana cake, and the taste that lingers in my mouth afterwards is Mhoba Franky's Pineapple. Based on the aroma, I was a little worried about sugar. Which wouldn't make sense for this brand. Fortunately, my fears were not realized. Based on the aroma, Mhoba Franky's Pineapple could easily be a Jamaican ester rum, but based on the taste, it's more of an agricole rum. A very interesting combination. Which probably won't appeal to everyone. On the other hand, it's a great experience. And for the price of a sample, it's definitely worth trying! Or come to one of my tastings and try other lesser-known bottles. Plus, we'll have a good chat over a glass of rum. At the Rum Journey Around the World tasting, we tasted Mhoba American Oak Aged, which was the most popular among the guests throughout the tasting. Now all that's left is to wish you good health and enjoy (not only) Mhoba in your glass!
