The glue and solvent hit first, but this Long Pond softens fast into banana, papaya and honey, with orange peel and a nutty almond-anis twist mid-palate. One taster called the nose "der Hammer," and most agree the 53% is beautifully tucked in. The wood stays light and the finish runs a touch short — but as a high-ester Jamaican, it drinks clean and rounded.

#4296 12.10.2023 Thos is a really good Long Pond. Well balanced and great ABV integration. Fruity with nice esters and medium roasted wood. The palate is warm and well rounded with nice fruits. The finish is very long and warm has a nice citrus touch. Draws really nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass has caramel and a light nutty note.

8,4:On the nose, esters and glue, vegetal molasses, briny, slightly sweet with honeycomb, roasted oak, smoky, without peanut butter, toffee, caramelized, spicy with baking spices, anise, tropical fruits like banana and papaya, citrus fruits with lemon, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, fruits are fermented, raisins join, the molasses is grassy with hay, earthy with tobacco, fresh with tea, floral, buttery with chocolate, nuts, pastry, some polish might be recognized. 8,4:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with glue and polish, fruity with banana, orange peel, lemon, slightly sour, some of the fruits are candied, the molasses is vegetal with cereal hints, briny, flowery, a bit sweet with honeycomb.The wood is roasted with pastry, caramel, roasted nuts, spicy with anise, allspice, tannic. 8,2:The finish is long, dry&tannic, mild, medicinal with esters, slightly astringent with tropical, citrus fruits pairing roasted oak notes spicy, smoky. Und weiter geht es mit Tour de France schauen. Heute hoffentlich eine spannender Etappe als gestern, was die Favoriten angeht. Letzter für heute, ein toller Long Pond, kommt nicht an den Savanna ran, aber trotzdem geil :)

Erst einmal vielen Dank an Tobias für dieses Sample! Und was soll ich sagen…ein erstklassiger Long Pond…und wenn ich dann noch den Ausgabepreis berücksichtige…ist er unschlagbar. Die Nase ist betörend und erfüllt sofort den Raum mit Estern und tropischen Früchten. Am Gaumen kommen noch Holz- und leichte Bitteraromen dazu…das fügt sich perfekt ineinander. Im Abgang verliert such die Frucht, aber Ester und Holz halten lange an. Und das alles in Trinkstärke 👍🏻

Toller Rum mit ordentlich Klebstoff, viel tropischen Früchten und Honig. In der Nase noch etwas buttriges und ein Hauch Rosinen. Im Gaumen dann etwas Mandel und salziges. Im Abgang vor allem Banane und Karamell. Alkohol perfekt eingebunden

Ein Long Pond, den ich zu den weicheren, geschmeidigeren Vertreten zählen würde. Karamell und Toffee an der Nase, aber auch die buttrige Note, die auch im Zusammenspiel mit Milchschokolade häufig positiv genannt werden kann. Dennoch mischt auch eine Würze und Sauerfrucht die Nase auf. Holz und Röstaromen spielen im Hintergrund und ergeben ein rundes Bild. Im Mund würzig, sauer, bitter. Gehört für mich nicht zu der Oberklasse der LPs.

Nice fine glue on the nose. Tropical fruits such as papaya. Light citrus notes with the sweetness of raisins. Spiciness of lovage. Very pleasant and round. Dry and astringent on the palate at first, slightly sweet-bitter-salty, honey sweetness is there. Then comes a nutty-spicy almond-anise combo and at the same time fruit flavors such as orange peel and pineapple. At the end, lovage and - finally - banana. My first Jamaican rum, long undiscovered at the back of the shelf. But it was always something special for me. Now the bottle is empty. A great pity because it was a very, very nice rum.

not quite as complex as the 2nd. nice acid fruit balance, slightly salty sour fruity, lemons, banana, peanut butter, creamy and unfortunately hardly any wood. but also a relatively short finish. for me the 2nd is the clear winner here!

Farbe: Gold Geruch: Ester, fruchtig - Banane Lösungsmittel. Geschmack: Süß, relativ mild und fruchtig im Mund. Beim Schlucken süß, würzig-esterig und fruchtig mit Vanille und reifer Mango. Abgang: Mittellang Angenehm, mild und immer noch süß. Ester, Mango. Fazit: Sehr leckerer High Ester Rum
