Savanna Unshared Cask for Belgium 2010

A slow evening sipper at 60.5%, best neat with a little air. Members find grape, green apple and red fruit from the Armagnac cask sitting on woody, herbal, minty spice — several even mistook it for an old agricole. The catch: a medicinal eucalyptus edge and, for some, less of the tropical fruit Savanna usually brings. Powerful, occasionally a touch hot.

  • Armagnac-cask fruit
  • Grape and mint
  • Keep in mind: Medicinal eucalyptus note

Really great traditional Savanna. Armagnac, grape, green apple, strawberry, mint, burnt caramel, dark chocolate, subtle chili and overall just very balanced. Slightly reminds me of the Maputo but clearly "lighter". Nice one!!

The rums from the Savanna distillery are some of my favourites. I recommend everyone to try especially the higher ester pieces like Grand arome or HERR. You haven't felt so much fruit in a few little drops of liquid for a long time.

02.02.2026 Finally home from a long workday near Copenhagen. Luckily the drive there and back we hit the perfect timing 😊 This one I tried at Whisky Live in Paris and I still love it a lot. ---------- #4341 21.10.2023 Whisky Live 2023

A wonderful sipper for the evening, just right for today. A fine nose with lots of Armagnac and fresh planty notes. On the palate, the vegetal side predominates, paired with a little spice and wood. The alcohol is quite well integrated so that you can roll it on your tongue with pleasure. The finish is not quite as long, but full-bodied.

Relatively little fruit. Lots of spice and depth from the Armagnac finish. Dry, roasty finish. Very nice bottling!

Alcohol is well integrated. Not the most complex Savanna rum, but still a nice bottling. Fruity, spices, a bit of wood. Alcohol is well integrated. Reminds me a bit of Isautier.

I like it very much! Although I usually tend to avoid finishes, the cognac and Armagnac finish somehow fits very well here! Grapes join forces with red fruits and green apple, while herbs, eucalyptus and mint form a solid fubdqment. Powerful and intense, perhaps a touch too alcoholic, but I like it better than the Unshared Cask for Germany!

Superb nose of red fruits, grapes and apples. Very Armagnac-infused, magnificent palate with pineapple and a slight menthol note. The best of the 4 Unshared 2023s.

A superb representative of Savanna's skills. This rum is beautifully complex. Wood, fruit, spice, you name it. The cask brings a nice roundness and grape notes. This impression is confirmed on the palate. Round, warm and enveloping. A surprisingly fresh, minty note. Nice length. Superb rum.

A pleasant surprise. I like it much better than the moray eel. A really nice fruitiness of grape and apple meets intense woody notes. Anyone who likes Armagnac will have fun with this rum.

Finally got to taste this rum, as the new Unshared Cask for Belgium is just around the corner. A very delicious nose, fruity, spicy, and floral. On the palate pleasantly woody, just right. Medium-long, warm finish. Alcohol not disturbing yet. Once again a successful bottling from the Savanna house.

Nose: cedar wood, minimally smoky... maybe even cigar box. Some vanilla and roasted nuts. Wonderful. I like it. Earthy and settled. Palate: Same. Alcohol is well integrated. Reminds me a little of old Agricole or the molasses version of Isautier. Gränzgänger - I would probably have blindly categorized it as an Agricole. Well, it's a lot of fun. Hm, do I need a bottle of this after all?

I'm a little bit disapointed in that one. I was expecting more. Don't get me wrong, this is a good Savanna. However, the nose is a little too spicy for my taste. The palate is much more balanced but dilution was badly executed.

Too strong for my taste. The alcohol doesn't seem well integrated. Armagnac cask is noticeable and pleasant. A medicinal side is quite present throughout the tasting. I don't find my match here.

A very floral framework as I am used to with Savanna on their column molasses. Gourmandise with a slightly overbaked gingerbread. All accompanied by a beautiful bouquet of flowers turning towards potpourri. The Armagnac cask brings just the right amount of fruitiness to further enhance this juice, notably with apple/pear. The finish has a very medicinal side that takes its place with eucalyptus.

A solid rum with quite a strong wood influence, notes of herbs, grapes and eucalyptus. Well-integrated alcohol, a little tang and tannins on the finish.

Tasting note from the salon Very nice profile quite marked finely by the Armagnac cask, prune, raisin. Beautiful integration of the alcohol. The first time I tasted it I had strong cocoa which strangely I no longer have at all. It's very elegant.
