Inviting on the nose and beautifully creamy and roasty, chocolaty on the palate. However, the alcohol is quite present and seems a little rough. Nevertheless, a good Uitvlugt from 1997!

On the nose I have initially fine tangerine and pineapple. The rum seems fresh, slightly resinous with a touch of vanilla and dry wood. Sweet it seems, like warm cotton candy. In between, also very slightly smoky.On the palate it falls clearly behind the nose. The fresh fruity gives way to tart, bitter-salty. An old rag came to mind. Nutmeg is there and pepper. Bitter, green tea.In the finish remains the bitter note and the tea.The nose I found much better. Despite the over 50% it seems somehow flat
