#4250 16.09.2023 Whisky N Rum Show 2023 Finally back after a day in Copenhagen. I really hate sitting in a train 2.5 hours each way 😁 Just needed a cool down rum and the new Romdeluxe was the pick. The nose is kind of light and fruity with a bit of funk, ester and polish. The palate on the other hand pretty nice and intense. Light fruit with roasted wood notes and esters. The palate is oily and smooth with a long finish. Draws amazing curtains in the glass and the empty glass has some nutts and light anise. Price to quality is pretty good in my mind.

Phew, very hard for me to rate. Sometimes there are bottlings I can't or don't want to assess. This is one of those. On one hand you notice the Jamaica DNA, but on the other it has some aromas that bother me a lot. Unpleasantly chemical. A mix of vegetables and chemical substances. Furthermore, I find the alcohol disturbing. There's still something in the sample to give it a second chance, but tonight it's completely out and has taken away my desire for more rums. Shame.

Second place in my small MJH3 tasting. First tried at GRF 2024, but even there it couldn’t fully convince me. This one had more power, but overall not better than the predecessor. Also here applies: Daily sipper top, but not at current release price!

Oh man, the last rum for today. It really tastes like a typical Hampden. Ester is certainly easily recognizable. Also the typical tropical fruits again. Banana in particular stands out here. Delicious.

Nice fruit aromas meet quite an intense cask interaction, which certainly suggests a few years of tropical aging. The finish has an appealing length without coating the mucous membranes. Even if the esters are not the main feature of this 'Hampden', the result is impressive. Really delicious!

I would guess the Mark OWH. Unfortunately it’s not my favorite Mark. Unlike the Whisky Jury the alcohol is less well integrated.

Tasted at the Rom de Luxe stand at the Village in Nuremberg. Delicious Hampden with a tropical pre-storage. I like it, especially the rich palate with banana. Alcohol integration is very, very good.

My very first tasting of rom deluxe wild series. I’m glad I started with this 11y Jamaica. On nose, there is noticeable pineapple and mango. On palate, oily taste with significant tropical fruit and funky esters. A pleasant dry long finish then finished the scene.

In my opinion rather a low mark. Would guess an OWH. Overall, I'm missing that certain Katschingboombang here. Too thin and watery for me, some wood/barrel but more than better neutral alcohol and a hint of esters/tropical fruits is unfortunately not. There is better.

Tasty Hampden, flavor wise I don't find a nice baked banana similar to LROK the younger or Papalin 7, probably more low-mid ester (I'd guess LROK or LFCH). Nice sipper, but nothing earth-shattering for my taste, I'd rather buy another bottle of Papalin 7 (or 3 for the price).

An 11-year-old HD, probably not high ester, rather in the medium range. Nose: Ester with lots of lime and solvent. Reminds me strongly of dish soap. Therefore very fresh. Also pineapple and a bit of banana. Pleasant sweetness of marzipan and honey. Nice and solid, but not spectacular. 8.0 Palate: Ester, but somewhat different, salty-bitter, lemon or lime, but also metallic sharp. Turns quite quickly to bacon-like, pecan nut and some umami, but also fresh at the same time, pepperoni or so. Not so bad, as it is not boring, but too rough for 11 years. 7.8

The aroma is Jamaican – pineapple, banana, mango, and esters. Just typical wild Hampden. On the palate, it starts with sweeter fruit and honey, but then it turns dry with wood. It has a dense structure, the alcohol is strong but fits beautifully and does not disturb. The finish is long, dry, and you still feel fruit with vanilla and wood.

In all rums from this distillery you feel wild esters, after which your whole body soaks up the scent of yellow tropical fruit - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach.
