A little more tamed than the LORD - but tamed is "relative" here. More herbal (basil, herbs) and umami instead of blatant fruitiness like the Lontan 57.5. Reminiscent of liquid antipasti. 🤓 Great high ester rum!

Tasting notes for Savanna high ester. A nose with esters, olive, chili pepper, and a slightly dirty, sweaty, medicinal side. The palate is aggressive but not unpleasant, and as the alcohol fades, the aromas reveal themselves. An umami and fermented side complements the fruit and vegetal notes. The finish is short and the lingering flavors are more umami, fermented, and spicy than fruity. A rum with flavors that are too strange for me; here too, it would be better to try it in a cocktail.

27.09.2024 Retasting with Savanna and I still love it a lot. Still get the Heinz tomato ketchup. Needs to rest to really open up but then you get the fruity and glue notes. ----------------- #4538 12.01.2024 Very nice HERR with lots of tomato and a very long finish.

This Savanna Trad G is a real original, opening with surprising aromas combining tomato, basil, olive, spices, fermentation and medicinal notes with a hint of esters. Confusing, but a welcome change from more conventional white rum profiles. The palate is no exception: the funky esters stay in contact with the green notes of tomato and olive, while banana follows far behind in the mouth. More surprisingly, meaty notes (meat) and umami creep onto the palate. It's a real UFO, with a zany but no less interesting profile. The alcohol is surprisingly well integrated for its level. The finish is long, spicy, vegetal and medicinal. At last, fruit enters the fray to vary the aromas. The power of the juice is felt, with a dry, spicy texture that envelops the palate. Certainly not the Savanna to start with, but such a fine risk-taking on a profile as strange as it is fascinating can only encourage the distillery to develop a profile of this kind for ageing.

Intense on the nose with olives, rotting vegetables and a hint of soy sauce. Only a hint of strawberry and fruits overall. On the palate more accessible than the nose suggests. Quite some sweetness with a strong focus on vegetal notes. Some olives and salt. Texture is creamy completely hiding the high ABV. This is an excellent destillate.

The has real power much ester not quite the fruit bomb as expected but still tasty. For me personally rather what to mix there he plays out his strengths properly. Top PLV. Rating is adapted to an Unaged.

A small Savanna Tasting @ home. This one was quite good. Very lovely aromas of liquid gummi bears, berries, the typical synthetic smell from savanna mixed with a fresh note. Very good! Resume: Creol

Antipasti Rum?😆 Smells like a large antipasti platter with delicious dried tomatoes, pickled grilled artichokes, pepperoni and olives with herbs and olive oil. I have rarely experienced such an intense taste and smell of tomato in particular. Very unusual, although not wrong. Alcohol perfectly integrated. Daiquiri test: incredibly cool how all the antipasti flavors suddenly fade discreetly into the background and the tomato suddenly appears fruity. Something like a dish I once had in a Michelin-starred restaurant: iced watermelon gazpacho with pesto and burrata ice cream, kalamata olives and dried tomato chips. Very, very cool and extraordinary! Extremely drinkable in the daiquiri despite 69%! But you really have to be in the mood for it😆

Quite a strong number. Too sharp for me neat because of the alcohol. More pleasant with water. More vegetal notes come out with that. On the palate, the bacon-meaty character is quite special. Interesting but not quite my thing.

Watch out, the UFOs are here :) Very surprising nose. Olive and brine galore. Floral. Esters, fruits. A medicinal side. On the palate, it's even more extreme. The brine and olive first. Then it explodes. It's strong, spicy, fermented, fruity. It all mixes! It stays forever in the mouth! Fun experience. But I wonder what you can do with a bottle of such rum besides cocktails? Edit: tasted a second time and I must admit the alcohol integration is very nice and this rum is a beautiful expression of what Savanna can do and a very interesting ingredient for mixology.

Lots of olive, sweet, fruity with vegetables (tomato) and herbs (basil). Smells like a mix of White Agricole, RumBar Overproof and gazpacho. On the palate also a bit smoky. Those who like mezcals will like this one too.

RumX Savanna Masterclass 27.09.2024: Interesting, really very vegetal nose, especially dried tomatoes. Smells like an antipasti platter. The taste is less vegetable and more simply plant-like, which I like better. Overall, this profile is not really my thing.

Today I got to taste again in the RumX Savanna masterclass. And was positively surprised. You should try it several times. Intense, exceptional. And totally underrated. For me now at least on par with the Herr even though I haven't had this one in a Daiquiri yet. That should be exciting. Really exciting what comes from Reunion. This unaged Savanna with tomato and basil. Just missing mozzarella for the perfect dinner. Seriously. Crazy taste trip here, you inevitably wonder where all that comes from. I would simply call it wild or experimental for pure tasting. A dream for every bartender. I miss a bit of balance when tasting pure. But crazy stuff!

Here you get antipasti in a glass. Dried tomatoes with herbs, olives and grilled peppers are complemented by a meaty spiciness. Everything is carried by a pleasant, natural base sweetness. Savanna Masterclass Already quite strong due to the ABV. Hard for me to put into words. Anyone who's been present during a distillation process will recognize the smell and taste. Fresh and funky. Still missing that certain kick.

Exceptional rum with a very intense nose that holds tomatoes and ketchup?! All right, these are not necessarily typical flavors and you definitely have to like it. In addition, dark sugar aromas (molasses) resonate.

Number 8. Another tasty Agricole. This time from the French overseas territory Reunion. Also very fruity this rum. Tastes very vegetal too, but absolutely delicious. Alcohol well integrated, top. Next up is a Caroni :)

Pleasant and strong savanna, more vegetal than fruity. Olives, herbs and floral notes. Fruit is hard to find in the taste but still a very pleasant high ester rum. By the way, it's a perfect piece for a daiquiri!

Nose: lots of olive. Also some herbs recognizable. Reminds of antipasti. Also slightly fruity. Taste: again lots of olive. I stick with the antipasti association. On the palate the (fermented) fruits are much more noticeable than on the nose. Also very spicy/bitter towards the end. You can feel the alcohol (which at 69% is not really surprising). Interesting but I don’t need a bottle of it.

The nose has a strong olive note. The taste is nicely herbal. Beautiful rum. I really like Savanna rums. Great mixer this rum. Truly highly recommendable. Also quite pleasant on the finish. Slightly upgraded after the night tasting.

Wow, this one is different. Full load of green olives on the nose, slightly acidic. On the palate the olives are complemented by a nice sweetness. Very unusual but also very cool. The alcohol is very well integrated. Really like it.

Olive from start to finish in focus. Compared to HERR and Lontan 57, the fruit notes are more subtle. Instead, stronger herbal aromas come through. As with the other two, the alcohol is excellently integrated. Really fun to drink.

What a wild mix… on the nose the associations after some time in the glass range up to Bloody Mary thanks to quite present tomato aromas, plus medicinal notes, herbs and olive as well as tropical and citrus fruits. On the palate initially noticeable alcohol impact, not unpleasant, but with quite intense ester-fruity-acidic note. Besides that again tomato, olive, salt, fresh mint, also some glue… an adventurous mix of aromas that despite its special direction is simply impressive.

Nose very much focused on strawberry, blackcurrant and wild berries. Added to that are olive and some spices. These elements are always present on the palate, quite intense. Relatively long finish. A quite surprising and pleasant rum.

It’s an interesting white rum. Not a high ester Savanna but has its place. Tomato and olive certainly at the forefront. Nose is. Mouth tame given the abv, plasticine, olive, brine, and tomato. Finish brings licorice and allspice with a really long dry undertone. Herbal and vegetal in the nose. Like it, not a sipper. Interesting for a cocktail
