A dry column-still Nicaraguan for drinkers stepping past sweet rums and wanting more to chew on. The nose leans nicer than the palate — wood, spice, a bit of orange and roasted nuts — while the taste turns dry and woody with chocolate and mocha, and for some a tobacco-like bitterness on the finish. #6285 26.01.2026 Relaxing with a few samples and my new playlist with Trance and Psy-Trance. Nose Light wood, light roasted, spice, faint polish, cinnamon, light nutts, light orange. Palate Medium dry, wood, light chocolate, cinnamon, nutts, faint nougat, light orange. Finish Medium long, round, peppery, cinnamon, light nutts, medium dry. Empty glass Cinnamon, chocolate, light nutts, light nougat. Needs to rest for a while or a few drops of water for it to settle and open up properly.

Flor de Cana Terra is a very good rum especially for people who are relatively new, who have taken the step from sweet to dry rum and now want to discover more facets of rum. For beginners it might taste a bit alcoholic, for advanced drinkers it is rather watery.

The smell is for me clearly more pleasant than the taste. I smell many spices, floral, wood. Taste is dominated by an unpleasant bitterness for me. I rather assign that to tobacco. With the 3rd 4th sip I find it hard to taste anything besides the bitterness. A drop of water and I taste nougat, medicinal, wood.

Flor de Caña is a rum that challenges you a bit more. At first a bit sweet and fruity, but in the finish the more bitter characteristics come out. Like the wood and also a bit alcoholic. For slightly advanced rum drinkers it is definitely a good choice and there is much to discover.
