Fifteen years of continental aging keeps it fruit-forward with light roasty and charcoal notes underneath. #4702 20.04.2024 Relaxing at home after a long stressful week at work. Nose Fresh, light wood, faint smoke, ester, pineapple, banana, spice, light earthy, fruity. Palate Warm, medium dry, light wood, ester, banana, overripe, light earthy, faint chocolate. Finish Long and warm, light wood, ester, fruity, light tobacco, faint smoke. Draws nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass has stronger chocolate and light mint. Price to quality is OK in my mind.

Lots of barrel influence, tart spicy and woody notes, obligatory fruit aromas of pineapple, banana, papaya and lime, heavy, almost honey-like sweetness in the background. Solid Hampden that has too many barrel notes for me.

Fruity delicious C<>H . Nose full fruit bomb with neat ester . Alcohol barely perceptible --> Very well integrated. In the mouth it falls off a bit for me ... despite much fruit (pineapple, papaya banana) . In the finish then something bitter with a portion of wood. It lacks me something the creaminess and mouthfeel what other H<>C have. Just the FRC JMC sets the benchmark here for me (continental). I had hoped that we come close .... unfortunately not managed. All in all, however, a top bottling with good PLV.

Edit Edit: super great mixer Edit: Crosstasting C◇H 1st Kill Devil 2. FRC C◇H 3. the Duchess 4. TBRC Frankenstein 5. the Whisky Jury So far it's only been a quick test at lunchtime. Really good for a continental. The alcohol is well integrated, which makes it quite drinkable. A very dangerous addition to the cabinet for me. But I'll try it again next time against the H<>C from TBRC. Let's see who comes out on top.

Really good Continental Hampden! Has everything you look for. One of the best 2007s for me, but still doesn't quite reach the GRF editions from previous years, yet still a great ester bomb, tasty.

Great C<>H! Very fruity and yet astringent with typical ester notes. Alcohol wonderfully integrated, just the right age. Pure essence of HD without frills or much complexity (in a positive sense). //update: confirmed! Solid Hampden for great value for money

A really successful and classic Hampden with a top PLV. Very fruity on the nose and on the palate. Lots of citrus fruits and some marzipan on the finish. The alcohol is well integrated.

Today the FRC C<>H has to prove itself against the FRC JMC. First impression: the C<>H is good, very balanced on the nose, with tropical fermented fruit, not too aggressive. The JMC bottle has been open for a long time now, and everything has oxidized properly. I find it all the more astonishing that the JMC still comes across a touch more potent: more intense, more complex, more dairy products and pastries, at the same time quite a bit of lemon fizz...the JMC is also slightly ahead on the palate. However, when I evaluate the C<>H standalone, I can also say that this was a pretty good cask!

On the palate, I initially find it very astringent. It's very fruity and funky. A hint of menthol on the finish. No doubt about its origin. But not at the level I was expecting. I would have liked better integration of the alcohol.

Damn good C<>H that I can't wait to try in a Mai Tai. Extremely tropical fruits, esters, glue, and honey. The whole thing is complemented by light citrus fruits. The finish is a bit too bitter for a top rating.

This is a very good rum, like almost all Hampdens. On the nose quite alcoholic, but also citrus fruits can be detected. On the palate also citrus fruits and esters can be tasted. Overall very strong, but alcohol well integrated.

In my opinion, a very tasty Hampden unlike the 2007 Kill Devil. The FRC has more plant and acid-focused components. I find this very exciting and really tasty. Nice bottling.

Nice continental Hampden where the ester is not missing. Nice fruit but a bit too much wood and bitterness. Fun to drink and a good value for money at release. The alcohol is also well integrated.

Second time in the glass and I'm actually very convinced now. Wonderfully fruity and you hardly notice the 15 years. Great barrel. Great rum. Lots of fruit. Lots of Jamaica/Hampden, lots of pleasure 👍. If you take your time, a few roasted notes come to light that you might otherwise miss a little.

Light yellow, subtle for a 15-year-old. As soon as you pour it, a massive aroma of overripe banana mixed with marzipan spreads out. Strong fruity notes, with time also more glue-like notes. Overall nicely balanced and seductive. On the palate, as often with high ester rums, there's initially a certain acid attack, which decreases with further sips due to getting used to it. Along with the nose aromas, a slight woodiness appears. Some sharpness and bitterness remain even through the long finish with fruity ester notes. Overall, I really like the delicious nose aroma. With less acid sharpness/bitterness, it could be even better.

Eine unglaubliche intensive Nase, schon am Tisch riecht man das volle Glas. Aus der Nähe schlägt einem dann Frucht entgegen, Ananas und überreife Mango und Banane. Sowie ein Geruch den man milchig und süßen Keksteig, oder Richtung Erbrochenes nennen kann. Vielleicht Spuren von Buttersäure. Zudem ein bisschen Klebstoff. Den Alkohol merkt man nach einer halben Stunde im Glas kaum, trotz der 66%. Farblich sieht er aus wie ein gelblicher Weißwein. Am Gaumen brennt der Alkohol etwas, aber das geht unter im Knall von Frucht und allerdings auch dem leicht verdorben, überreifen Aroma das schon in der Nase auffiel. Vor allem aber ein Mix aus tropischen Früchten, die auch den Abgang ausmachen. Ganz kurz wird es dort bitter und wie wenn man Klebstoff im Mund hätte, aber dann kommt die Papaya, Mango und Banane. Und das begleitet einen eine ganze Weile, immer wieder bemerkt man die schön reife Mango auf der Zunge oder Lippe. Seltener kommt auch ein Hauch von Diesel durch. Wirklich toller Rum, wobei man diese Esterexplosion mögen und offen für die leicht ranzigen Aromen sein muss. Dann aber sehr zu empfehlen. Den Alkohol ist super integriert.

Beautiful Hampden with the typical notes of grilled pineapple, glue and yellow fruit. The taste is rather on the less subtle side, astringent. A higher rating would have been possible if the finish had been longer: other Hampdens are better at this.

Nose: Marshmallows, furniture polish, fish oil, olive brine, varnish, anise, banana, sea salt, pineapple Mouth: Marshmallow, pineapple, Haribo fruit jellies, popcorn, raspberry, strawberry, barbecue charcoal, menthol, melon Finish: Slight waves of a small burn with full flavour and gradually dissipates for a medium to long finish. This is a powerhouse. Already from the nose, you know you're in for something good. It has some industrial elements, but I really feel like it has this fruity candy element that takes over most of the aroma, with some other notes poking in and out. The palate is just awesome. It reinforces the nose and I'm in absolute flavour country. So much fruit with some light charcoal notes and the candy element surrounding it. This is true nectar of the Gods.

A very tasty rum. Personally, I'm a big fan of the 2007 C<>H bottlings. The nose here is also wonderfully intense and funky. It's really fun. I also find liquorice somewhat surprising. An unusual note on the palate relatively at the beginning. Herbs and spices are much more present than expected. The alcohol is noticeable but that fits well here. The barrel influence is recognizable. The finish is beautifully long and dry. I really like it. The floral notes give the rum a little more complexity.

Le verre versé embaume le salon. Au nez, de la saumure, des fruits tropicaux presque pourris, un léger fumé. On sent que l on va entree dans un hampden sec avec peu de gourmandise. La bouche confirme, beaucoup de fruits, un côté astringent, un peu de vinaigre puis de petites pointes de massepin. Finale longue et chaude qui persiste sur le côté astringent. Vraiment, j aime beaucoup. Il lui manque peut être un léger poil de rondeur (peut être le résultat du vieillissement 100% continental). Vraiment cool.

2nd tasting and I find the bottling insanely good. On the nose, a fruit basket with intense glue notes. Funky and dirty in taste with slight roasted aromas. Certainly not everyone's cup of tea but exactly my thing. I could sniff and sip it all day long. Long finish of ester notes and solvents. Top notch rum

Nose: Lots of banana, some vanilla, ester/glue, slightly smoky, the alcohol is too sharp Palate: nice mix of esters, sweet pineapple, banana and glue also tire, roasted aromas, slightly like roast pork on the finish. Pretty awesome, but definitely needs a long time in the glass and the alcohol still presses through a bit too strongly.
