A breathtaking, incredibly complex nose. Bitter caramel, pastries, bananas, citrus and herbs in the background. The entry is sweet and fruity, with pineapple, starfruit, pear and more. The bitter caramel aspect of the nose fades into the background. The finish is unfortunately the weakest point of this magnificent rum, rather short and focused on bitterness and light wood. A hint of smoke appears in the empty glass, along with a little wood. The fruit is discreet. Thanks Mirko for the sample. In direct comparison with the "Roots", this one seems just as balanced to me, but on the other hand, a few watts and some complexity are missing here.

Great bottling, Bellevue is able to convince here. However, the rum needs some time to open up. Then you are spoiled with lots of lovely citrus, wood and fresh grass notes. Great, I like it very much.

Very delicious Rum from Bellevue! 🤤🤤😎 But can‘t keep up with the last bottling from RA. Nose: licorice, roasted, dark chocolate, salty, clove, floral with a overwhelming orange note😏 Mouth: woody, oak, licorice, salty, with a nice note of orange. Finish: Quite long, fruity and notes of tea, earthy, dark chocolate, oak, caramelized. The alcohol is integrated well.😎

9,2:On the nose, the first impression we get are red wine, red fruits, an orange, so also raisins, as roasted wood notes are caramel, dark chocolate, spicy with a clove, the molasses is vegetal and dark with licorice, soy sauce.Complex, but round. On aeration, flowery, tobacco notes come out.The fruits are now candied. Nice rest helps other fruits like banana and dried apricots, as umami is now also a player. 9:On the palate, the attack is fruity&sweet with red fruits, banana, bitter orange and yellow fruits, woody with spices and roasted notes like caramel, chocolate, the molasses is thick, syrupy and dark with licorice, wax, umami, herbal notes.The rum is creamy and very round. Resting helps with new, now a bit brighter notes like tea, tobacco, grass, green fruits&clove, as we might think of tasting orchard fruits compote. 8,9:The finish is long, dry, still with quite dark molasses, nutty roasted wood, the fruits are dried at first, then more juicy and fresh, spicy with green fruits, cherry and rare star fruit, clove.In the end, it becomes earthy, mineral, tannic. First of all: this rum needs a lot of time in the glass... easy sipping is definitely out of the question here... but the patience is rewarded... it thanks you with a pronounced nose initially full of citrus fruits, which then switch to spicy (salty licorice). On the palate, it immediately spreads creamy and smooth with a heavy sweetness of burnt caramel, then spices and citrus fruits come back. Wood and tannin join in. The finish is long and intense. A very good Bellevue bottling. Today again in a cross-tasting with the Milano Festival and Kill Devil in the glass. My impression has been confirmed and the score remains the same.

#4514 07.12.2023 This is a very good rum in my mind especially when looking at the price tag. Once rested the nose is well rounded and fruity with a sweet touch. The palate is oily and fruity with a touch of licorice. The finish is long and warm with dried fruit and clove. Draws beautiful curtains in the glass. The empty glass has some cherry and chocolate notes.

A Bellevue that offers a nice sensory experience. The nose is particularly radiant with a varied and harmonious aromatic range. The fruits are diverse (dried apricot, orange, tropical fruits, cherry, candied) and accompanied by gourmand notes of caramel, burnt sugar and honey. The spices are marked but not dominant (pepper, chili, vanilla, licorice, salt), paired with leather and toasted wood. A slight herbal and floral note brings some freshness in the background of the nose. A complete and pleasant aromatic profile. The attack on the palate is marked by a side both sweet and bitter, brought by caramel, sweet and burnt notes, but also woody and roasted notes, dark chocolate, leather and herbal notes on tea. The profile nevertheless retains a nice gourmandise with exotic fruit marmalade, orange, spices (vanilla, salt, chili) and dried fruits. You can feel the profile has aged but keeps a nice lively and warm framework. The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is quite thin and fades gradually, surely due to darker aromas that mark the palate less: tannic wood, bitter caramel, licorice, dark chocolate, leather and orange leave a less marked imprint than on the nose or palate. The long aging may have taken a bit of toll on this batch, but it remains a high quality selection, complete and offering a nice aromatic experience.

The 3rd anniversary bottling of The Rum Cask and then Bellevue 98, it rings a bell. Very surprising on the nose, this is supposed to be Bellevue? Very fruity and sweet, I find orange and citrus zaleb (candied orange peel) and something that reminds me of gingerbread or fruit bread. Little menthol or dirty, for us rum nerds "Caroni-esque" flavors often found in bottlings of this type. On the palate, the impression revises somewhat, here the typical aromatics come through more. Less fruit, but more menthol, tea and dirt. Overall, however, also very smooth, the 25 years in the barrel make themselves clearly recognizable. Therefore, probably also the somewhat deviating aromatics. Less edgy than many other bottlings, one can probably quite argue whether it is simply very round or comparatively boring? With proper time him glass I would tend to the former, especially the almost contrary nose also makes it exciting again. The 56% is almost not noticeable, possibly a few percent more would give a little more emphasis, but you can not assume that at 25 years. Beautiful bottling for the anniversary!

Nose: with the oldest in the line up, a bit more fruit comes back into the picture with quite some wood. Palate: wood forwards. Here we are entering an adstringen/dry territory without any bitterness. Lacks a bit of liveliness compared to other bottlings, yet I like this very mature profile.

A rum that really needs a lot of time in the glass. Many different notes come to the nose. Orange, licorice, citrus fruits and dark chocolate. The notes are also reflected in the taste with a bit of leather. Really very diverse. Alcohol is perfectly integrated. Warm, creamy finish. Great value for 25 years.

Solid Bellevue that needs some time in the glass. Fruitiness & and slight funk are present and well integrated, but nose is pretty closed. Score might be higher with some additional time. //edit: with more time a nice fresh profile with bright fruits, lemons, some grassiness and a whiff of leather & salt develops. Adding 2 points

Tasted alongside Guadeloupe CoR No. 2 (RX14111): A bit spicier-woody, less citrus aroma, but also noticeably rounder than the CoR. Very pleasant bottling, I really like it. But RX14111 doesn't have to hide either, it stays at a good 83 points.

What a great price-performance ratio! 125 euros for a 25-year-old rum! A rather astringent rum with light dark fruits, citrus notes, grass and wood. Alcohol is very well integrated. This one is fun!

Bellevue, a hard-to-grasp nose. Kumquat, fine cocoa powder, licorice. Very balanced, complex and well melted. Alcohol well integrated. On the palate then more wood and spice. A good load of caramel. Strong, warm finish. First strongly fruity, then getting drier and spicier. Very good Bellevue.

Slightly less fruity than other 98 Bellevues, the profile is a bit more on the woody side. Alcohol very well integrated, the aromatic complexity also convinces. Personally, I prefer the Bellevues with more intense fruit notes, but it remains a very tasty release that was a real value-for-money highlight at the issue price.

Bellevue 98? A promise? I'm curious. A nice dose of orange greets us on the nose. But not as a superimposed citrus. Rather elegantly accompanying. We have that on the palate as well. It is strongly pronounced. Tea, some spice and a dark distress. Toasted or even tar. Perhaps 😄 In the finish then further present. Velvety is what I chose here. It's floral, rather earthy and remains fruity. Exciting. Only the tobacco is still missing me here as a non-smoker 😀.

Basically a tasty 98er Bellevue without flaws. But in terms of complexity, it doesn't reach the level of sister casks from Rum Artesanal, Kill Devil, Royal Cane, or Silver Seal bottlings for me. Aromatically, you get orange, clove, star anise, lots of bitter slightly salty licorice, caramel, some dark chocolate, and lots of barrel influence....

A very good rum, especially when rested, the nose is well-rounded and fruity with a sweet note. The palate is oily and fruity with a hint of licorice. The finish is long and warm with dried fruits and cloves. The empty glass has some cherry and chocolate notes. Intense flavor, I like it.

Color: Brown Smell: At first sniff sweet, round, fruity and very tasty. Rum-grape-nut chocolate and Mon Cherie. Smells of toffee and candied fruits, orange, chocolate and smoke. Taste: Sweet and spicy in the mouth with syrupy fruit aromas. Full-bodied and intense in flavor. Tastes very spicy, with aromas of pepper, cardamom, barrel, oranges and tea. Slightly smoky. Finish: Long and still fruity. Dry finish with tea and tannins. Peppery-spicy and woody.

Parallel tasting with the 98 Milano Rumfest (RX1525). A feast for the nose with both. This one is lighter and sweeter in comparison. The 1525 is a bit stronger and spicier. The palate is thrilled by this taste experience 😍. It's fruity, spicy, the toasted barrel and fine sweetness harmonize wonderfully. Here too, Milano is stronger but not better for me. The finish is long, full of sweet caramel, spices, and fine wood. A great rum. For me, the TRC is slightly ahead due to its fine sweetness and rounder overall package. I was going to rate this lower than the Romdeluxe with a bit too dark profile. However adding a bit of water helps a lot, brings out a sweetness and balance. A point less with finish being on the simpler and quite shorter side.

Un' esperienza davvero interessante, al naso parte subito con note candite, di caramello, di liquirizia, ciliegia sotto spirito e chiodo di garofano. Al Palato ritroviamo la liquirizia, che si appoggia al legnoso ed al pepato, per poi sbocciare in un caramello salato e buccia d'arancia. Il finale forse è meno avvolge ma più legnoso del previsto, ma parliamo pur sempre di 25y!

Yeah here I’m really very satisfied and it makes a great companion on the train ride to Prague. Great complex spicy taste of baked fruit, clove, a bit of bark, dried candied fruit, grated dark chocolate. I’m very pleasantly surprised.

A nice dram, balanced, fruit, orange peel and some spices. It is great but also feels just average (let’s call it a prototype, but we are talking on a high level here). Taking the price into consideration (125€) it seems to be attractive but I am happy about my sample and leave it there. Thanks to zabo for sharing this bottle.

Already a great spicy, fruity, and creamy rum. But I miss the dark fruits and some smoke to reach 9 points or more. Value for money is very good though!
