This English Harbour series (Sherry, Port, Madeira) are probably the best cheap rums you can get. Very solid rums for very good price. I always recommend it to beginners that want something sugarless.

Good rum. Very good value for money. Slightly alcoholic on the palate but still quite balanced. Lots of caramel and tropical fruits. I recommend tasting although my favorite remains the sherry cask finish.

#7115 01.08.2026 Enjoying some samples after attending the birthday of my brothers twins. Listening to some nice tracks on Spotify. Pretty nice rum with an attractive price tag in my mind. Well rounded profile with spice, roated wood, nutts, marzipan, fruits and chocolate.

Quite an alcoholic nose despite the low ABV, the Madeira is present and reinforces this alcoholic side. The woodiness is quite marked, with tannins and bitterness. The palate is much fruitier, but more on the dried fruit side. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is of medium length, with woody bitters and vanilla. Apart from the nose, this is a fine rum, well-made and pleasant.

This English Harbour with Madeira finish is now my go-to rum. The nose is nicely balanced and offers wood, tropical fruits, molasses, nuts, and a bit of leather. On the palate, it has little body and the alcohol could be better integrated. I get wood, caramel, vanilla, dried fruits, tropical fruits, spices like allspice, and again some leather. In the short finish, you find dried fruits, wood, nuts, and light roasted notes. What I especially like about this rum is that the Madeira influence really comes through and stays from the nose to the finish.

The nose doesn't really pick me up yet: Alcoholic, a little wood. Fortunately, the taste then picks up a little: fruit, roasted aromas, somewhat more complex. Finish: dry with vanilla and medium length. Really solid. PLV good.

In terms of taste, it's too one-dimensional for me. Almost exclusively wood, which overwhelms everything else. Yes, there's Madeira, but it hardly comes through. Then there's also an unpleasant sharpness.

In search of a new anchor rum, I thought I'd try the EH Madeira No. 3. The woody and caramel notes run from the nose to the finish, and the Madeira also comes through nicely on the palate. Good 46%, but overall not spectacular. Just a great anchor rum.

Caramel and some wood. Coconut. Pours dark mahogany. Nose isn't super complex. Molasses. A lot more wood in the mouth, it sticks with you on follow through for a while. A little vanilla. Medium finish. Sample thanks to Moss.
