Blind, most tasters would guess Guyana or Trinidad, not Jamaica — this 17-year Long Pond leans dark, roasted and woody rather than funky. Expect banana, burnt sugar, gingerbread and a smoky, tarry edge, with pepper and a salty touch late. Low on esters for a Jamaican, and at 60% the alcohol runs a little hot for several people.

06.04.2026 Retasting with Fabian and I still find it pretty OK. -------- #4457 08.11.2023 A pretty good release. Fruity and well balanced. Roasted wood and ABV well integrated after resting for a good while. The palate is oily and medjum dry and fruity with a spicy touch. The finish is long, warm and medium dry with nice fruits. The empty glass has nice chocolate and light coffee notes.

Basically not bad. Clearly a Long Pond, the typical markers are clearly recognizable. But unfortunately not a bottling that can play at the top. Also more than acceptable as a mixer. But I wouldn't need a bottle of it, it's a bit too alcoholic for me

Great, atypical Long Pond. Here, roasted aromas and spices paired with caramel and burnt sugar are in the foreground. Blind, I would never have assigned it to Jamaica but rather to Trinidad or Guyana.

A beautiful palette that changes quite a bit with time. My only regret is that the sugar is a little present, almost masking the alcohol and making it a little smooth, a little short. Otherwise we really have sugar fruits of vanilla glue markers in particular, and some red fruits / mint that may recall a TDL somewhere. A fine discovery, and a bottle that will disappear quickly 😂

A very Long Pond nose with ripe fruits and esters but not the funky side found at Hampden. On the palate, very spicy, sharp spices take the lion's share. Banana, vanilla, almost burnt sugar, a little tobacco note at the end of the mouth. In some aspects, one could think of a TDL. Finish brings a surprising salty touch. Too bad the alcohol is a bit too biting. Zero Nine definitely knows how to find particular profiles. It's very good.

👃 Low esters, exotic fruits sometimes very ripe (banana, pineapple) sometimes not enough, like lacking fructose. Tar smoke, a grilled and roasted side, on the nut. Also floral. All markers are quite exuberant. 😋 Ouch, that stings! First mouth very (too) alcoholic, quite chemical, fewer interesting markers, some white and yellow flesh fruits, roasted almonds. Second mouth more expressive, spicy, more candied fruits (red fruits, cherries?). I also detect a smell of heating like on a toasted wood. ⛳ Finish short to medium, a pity. Chemical products, glue, bitterness. Bitter wood, spices, pepper, salty. 💡 Alcohol too present on the palate. Good but far from the top in Long Pond.

This LP is somehow a-typical. On the nose it is still good at first, I smell banana, some ester, some fruit...but also a disturbing sour dough note. On the palate it is creamy and soft at first with a hint of burnt sugar, then it becomes intensely spicy and peppery. This is accompanied by strange chemical aromas. The finish is roasted with a bitter note, salty and peppery! I don't know exactly what to make of it, I'm very ambivalent here

It's rather well made, and even better after being poured into the glass and waiting an hour. The aromas are more pronounced. Certainly less perfumed than a Teca but it drinks well. The finish is moderately long. I enjoyed it, in any case it was a very good tasting.

Tasted at Rhum Fest Paris 2024 A pretty nice low esters long pond, maybe the better of this bottler's lineup for the RFP24. A bit of funk and tropical fruit but without excesses, still really pleasant to dram.

Tasting with Kevin in Blåvand. Atypical character for a Jamaican, I would have clearly placed it in Guyana or Martinique. Less ester and fruit, more dark aromas and wood, dried fruits with a bit of chocolate and salty hints at the end. Well-integrated alcohol, a bit of air clearly does it good.

It is quite well made and tastes even better if you pour it into a glass and let it sit for an hour. Then the aromas come out better. Admittedly, it is less fragrant than a Teca, but still enjoyable. The finish is moderately long. I definitely liked it, it was a very good tasting experience.

An enjoyable long pond. Fruity, mild exteriors, a little wood. It's slightly oily on the palate with a nice finish. It's not the best long pond I've ever had, but it's definitely a really nice and warming finish.

The nose reminds me of a New Yarmouth 94 with a bit more lightness. Banana, tangy tropical fruits, a bit of coconut, almond paste. On the palate, a fruity note almost like Clarendon, spices and pepper at the end of the mouth. It's quite oily. Beautiful finish, a bit on the harsh side, but that doesn't bother me. The only negative point would be the alcohol, which could be better integrated. Very good product.

The typical Long Pond notes are recognizable, but not as pronounced as I expect for myself. The ABV is just well integrated. The nose is okay, but a bit too reserved and restrained. On the palate there is a mineral, slightly salty note floating over everything. Paired with a portion of burnt sugar that is consistently present, which unfortunately drowns out a lot. The finish is short and concise. Not too complex, rather mid-field. Doesn’t quite grab me.

Interesting nose, mix of pineapple and light nail polish. Powerful attack, nice warm sensation in the mouth very pleasant by the fireside. The palate is less fruity, more on pepper; the alcohol masks a bit but not disturbingly. Very long finish, quite bitter.
