One taster called the nose "armagnac married to a 70s Speyside" — and that captures it. This Bally centenary blend (1929 through 2008 vintages) reads dark and woody, with dried fruit, sugarcane, leather, vanilla and winter spice. Most love the elegant, rounded nose; several note the palate is softer and the finish shorter than that opening promises. A genuinely fine agricole blend, priced for collectors.

A rum tasted at the WLP. A surprisingly lively nose, given the vintage, vegetal but also yellow and tropical fruits. On the palate, notes of wax polish, fresh almond and fig leaf. A salty edge begins a rather sweet, long, woody finish. I feel like I'm in Sicily, in a messy orchard, and the empty glass tells a story of an old castle.

Tasted this fantastic Agricole during the Rhum Fest Paris 2026. As a tribute to the creation of the Distillery it embodies 100 years (1923-2023) of the J.Bally brand. The blend is made of some of the epic vintages from the brand, vintage 1929, 1939, 1955, 1975 and 2008. The high price of around €1800 is of course hard to live up to even if it’s a truly amazing rhum with a clear Whow factor. The nose is round, elegant, fruity, woody and spicy with scents of dried and tropical fruits, coffee, vanilla, pepper and some licorice. At the palate it’s balanced, elegant, complex, soft, spicy, fruity, woody, vegetal and roasted with flavors of pepper, vanilla, licorice, dried fruits, citrus, lemon, tobacco and leather. The finish is rather long.

"Whisky Live 2023, quick tasting session! My nugget of the show, a real rollercoaster tasting; complexity and richness. Plus the decanter is crazy... icing on the cake! Messetasting Whisky Live Paris. Initial impressions, treat with caution. Toller Bally, dem das verblendete Spektrum anzumerken ist - die frühen Jahrgängen machen sich in schweren Holznoten bemerkbar, dazu Trockenfrüchte, Gewürze, Kakao, geröstete Nüsse, Vanille. Toller Rum!

This cuvée, presented to celebrate the brand's 100th anniversary, is blended with iconic vintages (1929, 1939, 1955, 1975 and 2008). This unique blend offers an enchanting nose, at once very dark on roasted wood, cocoa and coffee, livelier on winter spices, vanilla and licorice, gourmand on tropical and dried fruits, and fresh on sugarcane and herbaceous notes. A complete, highly accomplished profile. On the palate, the dark, woody side is offset by more pronounced earthy and vegetal notes. Walnut and sugarcane add sweetness to a balanced profile that lacks the depth of the nose. Lemon adds a little extra, but doesn't make the difference. Alcohol is well integrated. But it's the finish that really seals the deal. Although it is complex and varied in its flavors (ranging from bitter, herbaceous agricultural greenery to tobacco leaves, leather, powerful coffee wood and warm spices), it is extremely short and clearly leaves you wanting more. A small disappointment on a profile that started out so well and gradually declined. On the other hand, the price has not declined, but rather taken off for space before reaching Jupiter, and that's a shame, because while these are historic vintages and the decanter is splendid, the juice isn't worth the price.

I had the chance to taste it at Rhumfest 2025. The carafe and its Art Deco style case are very glamorous and go hand in hand with the very high price of this blend. What I really appreciated is the roundness, the softness, the depth, the subtle and not overpowering woodiness. It's very good, one of the best agricole blends I've ever tasted.

I had the chance to taste this exceptional cuvée. Exceptional by history and price certainly. But taste-wise, it’s not that exceptional. You immediately feel the Bally framework, probably because the 2008 used as base.

I had the chance to taste this rum at the beginning of RhumFest Paris 2025. Right place at the right time. You can feel the noble age of this bottle in the omnipresence of wood. Despite that, roasted, vegetal, and spicy notes come through. Very pleasant. Lucky.

On the nose it’s explosive with lots of red and tropical fruits, noble wood, toast, spices, something vegetal and sweet, very good. On the palate it has barrel notes, spices, dried fruit and mixed red fruit, peanuts, leather, mixed sweet spices, pepper, a bit of tobacco, a hint of cognac and something floral. The finish is quite long and persistent. In the empty glass wood and aged notes. Leaves a dry and corky aftertaste. Oscillates between 8.9 and 9.

The nose alone is worth the detour. Who mixed armagnac with a Speyside from the 70's!!! The palate doesn't disappoint, even if some will certainly want a few more watts. I stayed more than an hour with this delicious fruity and those myriads of spices typical of Bally, vanilla and sugar cane are also part of the game. A caress! Atomic, just like its price 🥳

Salon note: The nose is very nicely patinated, varnished wood, well-ripe tropical fruit. The palate is pleasantly expressive for a 45%. Bitter almond and dried fig. Without being transcendent, it’s a nice rum that doesn’t justify its price.

Tasted like many at the live 2023..in the presence of Marc sassier and Simon pierre and I would say largely resservie if the first time I was not sure... magnificent in the respect of the profile Bally.But especially an incredible work of assembly creating a rum of a great harmony and a drinkability( it is ugly)maximum... box superb, bottle for window and price in 2023 for this kind of bottles almost correct..!!!!
