Strawberry-yoghurt and overripe pineapple hit first, wrapped in the ester funk and varnish-like solvents that mark a Reunion Grand Arôme. At 64% the alcohol is remarkably well integrated, with light wood, spice and a dry, warm bite underneath. Several tasters loved the fruity "creamy strawberry pineapple bubble gum" nose; a few found the palate a touch too biting and short of the very top Savannas.

Little Savanna GA & HERR cross tasting: Quite some notes from the cask (cognac I‘d guess) and some delicate ester notes. Nicely balanced fruity and woody notes. Very nice. Nicely balanced on the palate as well. Wood and fruits are mingling. Very tasty. Very good alcohol integration makes this very enjoyable.

Rums from the Savanna distillery are among my favorites. I recommend everyone try especially the ester-heavy pieces like Grand Arome or HERR. You haven't felt so much fruit in just a few drops of liquid for a long time.

Tasted this really good Grand Arome from Savanna bottled by Saint Eloi at Rhum Fest Paris VIP area 2026. It’s a blend of five different casks, continental aged for 11 years at Saint Eloi and bottled Brut de Fut in just 499 bottles. The nose is complex, intense, aromatic, fruity, roasted and nutty with some sweetness and scents of esters, plums, prunes, banana, pineapple, raisins, iodine, brine and syrup. At the palate it’s complex, intense, roasted, creamy and fruity with flavors of esters, black berries, prunes, grapes, red fruits, cherries and raisins. The finish is long and dry with added flavors of coffee and licorice.

Herrlicher Savanna Grand Arome. Alkohol ist nicht zu leugnen er braucht etwas Zeit. Nase noch etwas verhalten aber trotzdem gut . Am Gaumen spielt er sein Potenzial voll aus herrlich Fruchtig Ester Erdbeeren Kaugummi und etwas junges Holz . Flutet den Mundraum mit vollem Aroma . Sehr lecker .

#4952 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Intense, light wood, solvents, light medicinal, faint olive, nutty, plum, light citrus. Palate Intense, warm, light wood, faint roasted, berries, light licorice, light coffee, dry, light plum, raisin. Finish Long and warm, wood, light tannins, dry, dried fruit, light coffee, anise, cherry. This one also needs to rest for a while to really settle properly.

Since there were several Savannas in the glass that evening, this one is for me a "mediocre" bottling that unfortunately cannot keep up with the top group. For me a bit too biting on the palate.

👃 Wow! Lovely typical aromas of the GA Réunionnais; strawberry yogurt, red fruit bubblegum, overripe pineapple, light dried fruits, brown sugar, esters, pink spices, pepper and cinnamon. Elegant notes of varnish, lacquer and paint. Saltiness of green olives, light brine. A nice intensity and controlled acidity. 😋 An explosion of overripe tropical fruits (pineapple) and red fruits (strawberries) carried by the kick of alcohol which is extremely well integrated. Beautiful association of fruity esters and varnish/solvents. The multi-cask blend allows the woodiness not to be too marked, while bringing nice spices and a beautiful structure. ⛳ The intensity of the mouth continues, giving a dry, warm and pronounced bite. The strawberry yogurt gives way to more expression from the barrels; vanilla, cinnamon, anise, coffee, leather, light mint, leaf tobacco. 💡 A very good GA that has nothing to be ashamed of compared to official bottlings. It just lacks a bit more complexity to play in the big Savanna league.

Wow, what a crazy one. The nose is mainly fruity, tropical fruits contrary to mass, mango, passion fruit and pineapple are recognizable, also esters, which are also on the palate alongside strawberry and solvents.

This Savanna really doesn't have to hide behind the big GA's, even though it can't quite match them in complexity and refinement. Really amazing that it flew under the radar for so long, because the rum has real quality – at a very relaxed price. On the nose, the alcohol is very well integrated; on the palate it wonderfully delivers the typical yellow and red fruit GA aromas, plus in this case a pleasant cask spiciness. Artificial gummy bear flavor only comes at the very end and very briefly. A thoroughly successful, extremely solid GA. Anyone who finds a bottle shouldn't hesitate to buy. Highly recommended!

Very tasty Grand Arome that has everything you need! Strawberry-cherry yoghurt, fully ripe pineapple and banana, some salty green olives, cinnamon chewing gum and candied fruit. Alcohol perfectly integrated, dangerously drinkable! A very positive surprise!

Today for comparison, two Grand Arome. Rum Nation vs. Eloi. Both absolutely excellent typical Grand Arome. In my opinion, the RN is clearly better! Fruitier, longer finish and the alcohol is better integrated.

Many thanks for the blind tasting @RobBauer! A wonderful rum that continues the aroma composition of the smell consistently in the mouth and manages to enchant with overripe berries (with strawberry standing out particularly here), fermented tropical fruits and fine barrel notes with a mix of leather, pipe tobacco, cocoa and spices like vanilla, tonka bean and cinnamon.

No doubt about it, this is a great aroma. The nose is rather elegant for 64°, with a hint of harlequin candy. The palate is more explosive, with a surprising aroma of strawberry yogurt. The finish is medium-bodied and continuous. Good but not extraordinary. The nose is better than the mouth.

Quite interesting. On the palate I get an "artificial" strawberry yogurt note that fits quite well with the ester and (tropical) fruit notes. Some menthol is present on the finish and fits nicely too. With water it becomes a bit more vegetal on the nose.

This was a good one, amber colour, nicely balanced flavours of strawberries in yoghurt, pineapple and esters. Grand Aromas tend to be safe bets, and here the combination with the creamy strawberry flavour is doubly so. Probably the best I've had from SES so far.

A round nose of bourbon vanilla screams out from the very first olfactory contact, followed on the palate by a beautiful romance between pastry notes, toasty aromas and a lovely gourmandise... a real pleasure!
