Well that was a surprise. TECA seems to work pretty well with fresh Wood. It feels like the fruity Ester components were delivered in a wooden box. Sound a re-tasting and I am still surprised by this little gem.

Messebewertung. Verkostet im Rahmen des S.B.S. Tastings. Schöner junger TECA. An der Nase jede Menge weihnachtliche Gewürze, erinnert auch etwas an Räucherstäbchen. Am Gaumen dann die geballte Ester Power mit etwas Klebstoff und Lösungsmittel, leicht sauer.

Ve vůni dominují všemožné technické tóny, ale ty jsou zároveň hezky zjemněné tropickým ovocem. Krátké doby staření jsem se bál zbytečně. Chuť výborná, tropické ovoce a estery. Trpkost se dostaví až později, ale nic hrozného. Na pouhý jeden rok v sudu velmi povedený kousek.

Un jeune Long Pond bien lourd et crasseux à en devenir. Le nez est fortement médicinal, avec les esters, les solvants, la colle et le vernis. Les fruits sont mûrs, pour ne pas dire fermentés (banane, ananas, groseille) mais agrémentés par le fût de chêne qui aiguise les narines. Les épices viennent soutenir le boisé. Un profil plutôt complet, intense et varié pour son jeune âge. L’attaque en bouche est puissante, funky comme le nez mais un peu plus minérale. Les fruits tropicaux et les fruits rouges s’ouvrent davantage avant de laisser les notes pâtissières et sucrées s’exprimer. Le boisé épicé est vif, piquant légèrement le palais mais rivalisant du coup avec la lourdeur esterisée du profil. L’alcool est bien intégré. La finale est vive et sèche mais manque malheureusement de longueur. Les tanins du bois sont marqués, tout comme les épices, les notes rôties et le sucre brûlé. Les notes phénoliques sont moins présentes, de même que les fruits, très effacés par l’astringence et le côté épicé du profil. Un Long Pond de qualité et plaisant à boire mais qui demande à vieillir davantage pour gagner en complexité.

Sehr intensiver High Ester Rum. In der Nase überwiegend der junge Rum. Viel Ester mit deutlich vergorener Frucht. Sollte mindestens 30min atmen. Am Gaumen erstaunlich Süß. Der Holzeinfluss ist sehr gut. Alkohol präsent und kein Easy Sipper. Alles sehr intensiv.

Un rhum dégusté au GRF en 2024, S.B.S. Masterclass. Un nez avec des esters marqués, du caoutchouc chaud, des fruits tropicaux. On retrouve les mêmes arômes en bouche et la finale est longue mais marquée par ces arômes de caoutchouc et pneus. Un rhum avec de beaux esters mais le caoutchouc y est trop présent à mon goût.

TECA on wood. Somehow the virgin oak works surprisingly well here, even though I'm beginning to realize why it makes sense (or did?) to use bourbon barrels. The marrow is strong enough to hold its own here. And produces a nice duel. Worth a trip!

Super intensiv und beerig-sauer. Gelungene Kombination aus high-ester und Holz. Der junge high ester rum dominiert definitiv, das virgin oak Fass bringt aber eine leicht dämpfende süße und Vanille Note mit. Die hab ich allerdings erst gefunden nachdem ich mich an den rum gewöhnt habe. War der erste des Tages, mag dem geschuldet sein.

What a surprise On the nose, a real Esterz background of glue and olive. On the palate, lots of movement, fruit and wood on steroids. Medium-bodied and slightly spicy, but not without interest. A nice surprise.

Ein weiterer junger wilder TECA und eine weitere positive Überraschung . Wenn auch mir persönlich der WRHS#1 deutlich besser gefällt. Die Kombination bei dem S.B.S aus den Fruchtestern und dem jungen Fass ist gut gewählt und erzeugt eine gute Spannung am Gaumen. Das ist auch ein sehr guter Mixer

Überraschend wie gut der Alkohol integriert ist für nur knapp 2 Jahre Reifung im virgin oak Fass. Wirklich gutes Beispiel für eine junge Fassstärke. Das Teca mark kommt hier auch super zur Geltung, sehr gelungen! Kaufen würde ich ihn mir trotzdem eher nicht😃

Was soll ich sagen: Ester, Klebstoff, Alkohol und von allem das doppelte. Das Virgin Oak Cask hat ein paar Karamellnoten hinterlassen, insgesamt ist das Ganze aber zu jung und zu brachial, auch wenn die Ester schon Spass machen. Mit viel Stehzeit verflüchtigt sich auch der nicht so gut eingebundene Alkohol etwas. PLV ist eher unterirdisch: 80 € für einen Einjährigen? Eher nicht.
