A.F.D. The Nectar Of The Daily Drams Dominican Republic 2013
Anyone who likes their rum dry, woody and full-throttle should look here. This 10-year Dominican column-still bottling comes in at 65% and shows it: bitter oak, dried fruit, tobacco and a faint caramel that mostly burns off. Give it twenty minutes of air — several tasters say it's "way too hot" at first, then opens into a fruitier, creamier glass. Cane character all but disappears under the wood.

How does A.F.D. The Nectar Of The Daily Drams Dominican Republic 2013 taste?
Aggregated from 22 community reviews.
Hot, woody, dry cask-strength Dominican Loved by fans of dry, brutal oak, but the high ABV runs hot and needs long air time. Once rested, dried fruit and black cherry come through. Not for finesse-seekers.

Way too hot. Update: Crazy how it has evolved since the bottle was opened. Still a little hot but perfectly acceptable now. It has really opened up to reveal a fruity nose and creamy gourmand palate. Nice!

#4843 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Light wood, fruity, light vegetal, dried fruit, spice, light roasted, faint nutts, light tobacco. Palate Round, warm, light wood, faint caramel, light nutts, faint salt, raisin, faint citrus, light vegetal. Finish Medium long, medium dry, light salt, dried fruit, faint caramel, lightly sweet, faint chocolate. A pretty good rum especially when looking at the price tag. Needs to rest for a bit to really open up properly.

Be careful, it needs a good twenty minutes of aeration to let the bad alcohols evaporate! On the nose: wood, alcohol (due to its high alcoholic volume), dried fruit, tobacco, coffee and distant caramel. On the palate: The attack is frank and piquant, with wood first, followed closely by a dry bitterness! The caramel disappears, giving way to brown tobacco and a hint of leather. On the other hand, the sugarcane has almost completely disappeared... The finish is medium and dry. This Dominican is clearly focused on the brutality of bitterness and woodiness! There's no room for finesse, it gets right to the heart of the matter without fuss!

6.10.2025 on-line dugustation of “The nectar of the daily drams” by Rum Explorer Krzysztof Piaseczny with Mario Groteklaes. Opět něco, co umí nectar velmi dobře. Rum z dominikánské republiky, který vůbec nechutná tak, jak očekáváte. Je potřeba vyzkoušet.

Good rum, but a little too much alcohol and too much wood for me, despite a very interesting black cherry taste.
