Sipped neat, this is a Hampden that plays it gentle — banana and pineapple up front, a squeeze of citrus, then the 24 years show up as bitter, astringent oak and salty olive in the finish. Lots of fruit on the nose banana, pineapple? Papaya, some citrus fruit, some acidity. Fruit esters are also noticeable, but rather zam and in the low range. On the palate, the age is clearly noticeable... At first oily and fruity, a bitter woody note comes through, which is not disturbing but does justice to the age. Alcohol very well integrated.

A very well-balanced Hampden that is also suitable for beginners. It can be classified in the lower ester range and is well balanced with delicate fruit, sweetness, woodiness and spice. It contains no surprises, which is very positive in this case

Nice fruity Hampden, would have expected a much stronger wood note after 24 years in the barrel. All in all a good Jamaican that is more in the low ester range. Thanks to venomino for the split

Very decent Hampden, characterized by good alcohol integration and herbal notes. Banana, leather, pineapple, cardamom and piement on the nose. In the mouth a mixture of salt, olives, but also good tropical fruit with espresso and camomile. Sweet aspects are only added in the finish.

A Hampden to my taste. Lots of tropical, overripe fruit, esters, glue, marzipan on the nose and beautifully intense on the palate. Perhaps a touch too bitter on the finish, but otherwise a really great bottling.

The bottling surprised me positively, even though it has little in common with the 1997 Hampdens released so far. But for me still a very nice Hampden bottling in the low ester range.

What a great Hampden, reminds me a lot of the RC 1992 HLCF (RX10260). Fruity Esters, loads of banana and pineapple ,vanilla, wood and some salty olives. It also got a lot of tannins which make it a little astringent while being sweet and fruity at the same time. Great combo and it is definitely on the right side of a thin red line. Overall a complex and very balanced drop. Thanks to Venomino for the sample!

A classic Hampden profile. The finish makes the rum even more exciting as it is quite long and astringent. But then it suddenly disappears again. Very easy to drink and does nothing wrong. But 24 years could have made the rum somewhat more complex. Here the bottle is probably the biggest highlight. Thanks to venomino for the sample.
