The mint here is almost startling — eucalyptus, menthol and cool herbs land like a Vicks pastille before the fruit even arrives. Then come peach, mango and litchi, iced-tea sweetness, and a dirty petrol-and-tar streak underneath. Most tasters find it balanced and oily; a couple felt the palate ran thin for the strength, or that oak got a bit loud on later pours.

Rum Friendly Club Advent Calendar, day 14 and with friends. A very fruity first nose (tropical fruit and citrus) with hints of menthol and eucalyptus. Flowers too. The menthol, fruit and flowers are reminiscent of a TDL. On the palate, TDL aromas dominate, with fruit, menthol and flowers. Good acidity invigorates this rum, while a dirty, petrol, tar and medicinal edge adds depth. On the finish, the wood stands out, an elegant cedar wood with a light bitterness. The aromas fade gently, with fruit and flowers lingering for a very long time. A very fine rum.

Compagnie des Indes T.D.L Trinidad is a rum originating from Trinidad, known for its balanced palette of tastes and aromas. The nose is fresh and aromatic with notes of mint, eucalyptus and subtle herbal hints, accompanied by citrus and menthol accents. In the background, a slight tobacco earthiness can be perceived. On the palate, spicy notes dominate with hints of roasted tones, allspice and a slight bitterness. The rum is complex, with its herbal and fruity components creating a harmonious and full taste with a long finish.

Cool bottling. Round and balanced. It has the typical TDL notes, but the mint and menthol are somewhat less present. There is also some euchalyptus and nice fruit/citrus notes.

Definitely not a daily sipper, but rather something you should take your time with. Really tasty old vintage TDL. Extremely balanced and tasty. Yellow fruits (mango, physalis, apricot) and green fruits (green honey or Gaia melon, green apple, kiwi) meet black tea and citrus fruits. Overall rather dry but still very intense, aromatic and delicious! A great, successful bottling.

This is a first-class TDL... a wonderful mint-eucalyptus-menthol-herb mixture on the nose that I haven't experienced so intensely for a long time. This interplay of aromas continues 1:1 on the palate, complemented by a slight spiciness. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. The finish continues in the same way. It's really fun and confirms the successful 2001-2003 bottlings

Diesen Rum nerkt man an der Nase direkt seine T.D.L Herkunft an. Minze pur, erinnert mich etwas an andere CDI Abfüllungen aus dem 2003er Jahrgang. Viel Minze, Menthol, Kräuter, Schokolade, etwas dreckig... Sehr intensiv und mundfüllend am Gaumen. Die Aromen kommen kommen richtig gut durch. Der Alkohol ist sehr gut eingebunden und der Abgang lang. Wer auf diese krasse Minznote steht bekommt hier einen absolut hervorragenden Rum. Vielen Dank @BananaJoe für das Sample

An der Nase im direkten Vergleich zum Ricci ist der CDI frischer und bringt deutlich mehr Minze/Menthol mit, dafür etwas weniger Frucht bzw. mehr Zitrusfrüchte. Der Ricci ist fruchtiger und süßer, mit mehr Gewürzen, leicht rauchig. Beide gefallen mir alleine an der Nase richtig gut. Am Gaumen macht der CDI richtig Alarm mit voller Minz-Power, Tee, aber auch etwas Pfirsich und Gewürze. Schöne ölige Textur im Mund. Der Ricci ist am Gaumen runder und weniger Minze/Menthol-forward, aber auch schön intensiv mit dezent dreckigen Noten. Edit: Erschien mir heute etwas ausgewogener als bei der letzten Verkostung, jedoch immer noch sehr Minze forward.

8,8:On the nose, the first impression we get is a coconut, then glue, petrol, menthol, herbaceous notes, some roasted wood with nuts, spicy and yellow, citrus fruits. On aeration, minty and floral touch arises, tropical fruits, peaches and orange peel are obvious, so are vanilla and caramel, tannins after long rest. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is balanced, fruity with peaches, minty, sweet with honey, the wood is roasted with nuts, resinous and spicy, as dirty industrial notes like petrol, medicinal menthol are flowing hand in hand with other notes.The tropical and red fruits are fermented, there also might be green fruits and citrus.The molasses is herbaceous, there is a hint of an eucalyptus. 8,8:The finish is long dry and tannic, industrial, smoky, woody on one side, fruits and fresh herbaceous, grassy, floral and minty molasses on the other. A singular and complex TDL. The nose is highly contrasted. On the one hand, exotic fruits strike first (guava, peach, citrus and yellow fruits) followed by the minty freshness typical of TDL, then on the other there's a heavy, almost dirty side that emerges with notes of tar and petrol. The spicy woodiness finds itself in the middle of this stylistic opposition, trying to bind it all together. An original, divisive profile. On the palate, TDL is particularly powerful and expressive. The fruit is as radiant as ever (peach, apricot, blackcurrant, tropical fruit, orange zest), while Caroni's empyreumatic, medicinal and petroleum flavors cast doubt on the cask's content. The bitterness is accompanied by a spicy woodiness, including a touch of licorice and aniseed. The menthol, floral and herbaceous notes are as refreshing as ever, contrasting well with the tar, rubber and petrol. The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is long, marked by the freshness of menthol and herbs, followed by sludge and tar. The profile is rather heavy and rich, with roasted wood and spices underpinning the whole. The fruitiness follows, with berries, peach, blackcurrant and a good dose of exoticism. A TDL of great scope, complete and very well mastered.

Exceptionally good rum! In the blind tasting put in the direction of Courcelles. Lots of mint typical of T.D.L. on the palate.

J'attaque la dégustation de différents embouteillages indépendants de TDL. 👃 Ok c'est bien un TDL! Fraîcheur mentholée, plante eucalyptus, pastille à la menthe, léger camphre. Fruité typique de pêche glacée, beaucoup de pêche, ice tea fruits tropicaux, agrumes, caramel de fruits. Léger pâtissier sur du baba au rhum. Évolution légèrement empyreumatique vers des effluves d'essence, de diesel et d'huiles essentielles. 😋 Bombe de litchi et de pêche ou de pêche et de litchi, au choix. Ice tea, sirop de fruits tropicaux, eau de vie de fruits jaunes. Amertume de feuille de thé, menthe, eucalyptus, feuille de cannabis. Côté empyreumatique d'essence de station service, peintures, plastique, vernis et résine. Je trouve qu'il manque un brin d'accroche en bouche pour battre les meilleurs 2003, TWJ en tête. ⛳ Longue finale, fraîcheur vive, sèche, sale, très herbacée, feuilles de menthe, vicks vaporub, thé vert, pêche légère. La menthe poivrée reste très longtemps sur les parois de la bouche. 🏅 Ce TDL 2003 était passé un peu sous les radars à sa sortie, peut être à cause de son PVC plus élevé que la concurrence à l'époque. Aujourd'hui, autour des 200🍒 c'est moins choquant. C'est un très bon représentant du millésime. +1pt, 87 > 88. 🗂️ Je le classe finalement parmi les meilleurs TDL 2003 avec le TWJ #13, le CDI Bar1802, et bien sûr le Spirit Gallery (mais il est hors compétition celui-ci).

For a TDL with a very round profile. The expected mint notes, which merge with some eucalyptus in the finish, meet rich aromas of peach, tropical and citrus fruits. Everything is balanced by elegant wood influence, some vanilla oak and subtle caramel provide a pleasant accompanying sweetness on the palate. A very good, wonderfully balanced rum; for my subjective taste I would have wished for a bit more edge, but still find the release remarkable.

Brussles Rhum Festival 2024: Nase typisch Trinidad: Frucht und Kräuter (Tabak und vor allem Minze) ohne Ende. Im Mund dann eine leichte Süße die von Kräutern, Tee und Tabak abgelöst wird. Im krassen Abgang kommt dann vor allem.Methol und Minze durch. Schönes Teil wenngleich in der Preiskategorie starke Konkurrenten warten.

Verkoste den Tamosi 2003 gemeinsam mit dem CDI 2003 für Premium Spirits und dem Swell 2003. Wow ist der CDI PS super fruchtig! Hier ist sie endlich die geballte Ladung Pfirsich (und Mango), die sich bei den anderen beiden so versteckt hat. Dazu eine esterige Lack-Note, leicht verrgorene Früchte, das ist schon ein bisschen brutal. Die präsente Mango erinnert viel mehr an einen 2002er als an einen 2003er. Weniger röstig, viel weniger karamellig. Im Mund geht er nahtlos so weiter. Pfirsich -Mango, reichlich Säure, eher wenige dunkle Aromen. Die Minze ist präsenter und hier eist wieder mein geliebte Pfirsich-Minz-Eistee. Überraschend süß. Der Lack bleibt. Der Abgang ist lang und super minzig, wirklich super minzig uhd das ohne übertriebene Adstringenz. Ein fantastischer Rum! Das ist der Weg!

Nose Fresh, round, light wood, mint, fruits, mango, light citrus, light caramel. Palate Fresh, oily, light wood, faint roasted, fruits, light caramel, light banana, light citrus, mint. Finish Long, balanced, oily, light wood, fruits, mint, light peach. Empty glass Caramel, light chocolate, spice, light mint, peach.

TDL at top level. Truly a great representative of the vintage. Medicinal, dirty but also great tropical TDL-typical fruits including eucalyptus and mint. Berries, mint, peach, some pine needle, fruit acidity. Wonderfully complex. Great.

Very tasty TDL, alongside the typical notes of mint, currant, etc., there’s also eucalyptus and herbs. A bit dirty, a bit black tea, all nicely balanced. I’d love to have a whole bottle of this.

Wow, brutal geiler TDL! Fruchtig-minzig-krautig, im Abgang kickt die Minze noch einmal nach. Sehr rund und süffig, Alkohol toll eingebunden. Wirklich ein Highlight. Edit: Die Wertung bleibt die gleiche, aber ich kann wirklich nicht genug betonen, was das hier für ein Brett ist für Liebhaber von minzigen TDL. Sicherlich kein Rum für jeden Tag, aber es ist und bleibt einfach ein geiles Teil.

Interesting mix of tropical fruit, mint, menthol and technicality. Body mainly tropical fruit, menthol. Finish is a blast of various berries, blackberries, mint. Fabulous and extra long. I'm glad I could taste this again.

Tasted this at SDR23, so my review remains rather concise. A sublime, yet dense profile on the nose that hits all the classic TDL’03 markers of woodland, eucalyptus and intense mint. Dirty and lightly petrolised, edging towards a complete workshop sensation with subtle tones of resin and cigar smoke. However more fresh than other TDL’03s with, in addition to the usual bitter orange zest, citrus oil and lemongrass. The palate unfortunately does not live up to its name. It again hits the usual markers, but the spirit is very light for its ABV, overly mineralic, and consequently left me disappointed. Quite unfortunate, because the nose set the stage for something grand. Eventually this turned out to be (one of) the weakest of this vintage I’ve had. And one is left to wonder why someone would ever buy this at its current price point, over other TDL’03 options.

T.D.L very fruity with a nice presence of Lychee and Blackberry. The freshness is also present but less than on some other profiles. The empyreumatic notes are light but felt through a bicycle inner tube side. I liked it :)

Compagnie des Indes – TDL 2003 – 61.7% We stay in Trinidad with TDL in 2003, but with a Compagnie Des Indes bottling, selected for Premium Spirits A 20-year-old at 61.7%. Nose: fruity, vanilla, caramelized, complemented by a dirtier touch with leather and licorice. Palate: fruity, vanilla, woody and ashy profile, still on leather. The finish stretches long on bitter dark chocolate. A very beautiful TDL, powerful and deep, exactly how I like it! Obviously, price-wise, we're in a different galaxy than the Planteray...

A nice nose, On the palate, I'm a little disappointed, expecting more. A spicy side that I personally find somewhat disturbing. Other vintages from the same year (2003) are much better. I don't know if the value for money is there, But it's still a good product.

Schade. Hätte mehr erwartet. Solider TDL mit Minze, aber deutlich weniger komplex als andere in dieser Preiskategorie wie beispielsweise der Rasta Morris 21 2001 oder weiteren, gut bewerteten Releases. Dieser hier schmeckt etwas über seinen Zenit mit etwas Zuviel Holz und eben zu undeutlichen und zu wenigen weiteren komplexen Aromen. Hat er noch frische, französische Eiche bekommen? Aus dem Jahrgang 2003 finde ich die 16jährigen CDI deutlich stärker im Vergleich, selbst der alkoholreduzierte Cadenheads 2003 mit 18 Jahren ist komplexer und gefälliger als dieser hier. Der aktuelle TDL von FRC 2002 „Cannabis“ ist ebenfalls deutlich süffiger und vor allem abwechslungsreicher und auf den Punkt gereift. Die Nase ist sehr gut mit den bekannten und gesuchten Fruchtprofilen, am Gaumen leider eine sehr dominante Eiche mitschwingend, die vieles überdeckt. Ich mag Eiche sehr gerne, aber hier ist sie zu aggressiv. Tabak, Leder und Minze sind da, auch im langen Abgang. Eiche dominiert sehr, auch hier.
