#7194 21.08.2026 Relaxing with a few samples after today's bad news that my car will take more time to fix and it might get expensige. Listening to some nice tracks frem the album Trance Galaxy 2025 100 Stars on Spotify. Pretty good release but I think the price tag is a bit off. Intense profile with fruits, spices, rubber, varnish, sugarcane, roasted wood and some licorice.

Rum and chocolate tasting by Rum Club Switzerland. A fruity nose of overripe pineapple and mango, with a few esters in support. An explosion of fruit on the palate too, with varnish aromas adding a little depth. The finish is too short and the fruit disappears too quickly. A pleasant, easy-drinking rum that also brings a certain complexity.

Jamaica blend with various fruits, warm wood and vanilla. I find tropical fruits like banana and papaya with some lime. Alcohol well integrated, but flavor-wise not quite round enough for a better rating.

8,3:On the nose, sugarcane hints, overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, dried fruits like raisins and some orange, medicinal, smoky, toasted wood notes like caramel, leather, slightly resinous, spicy with cinnamon, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, molasses is floral, vegetal with olive, sweet toasted notes come out like burnt sugar, caramelized, confectionery, vanilla, fermented dairy hints, dirty touch. 8,2:On the palate, the attack is medicinal and chemical with phenol, smoky, fruity with overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, maracuja, dried fruits like raisins and apricots, citrus fruits, later red, molasses is floral, vegetal with olive, briny, the wood is toasted with caramel, sweet, confectionery, spicy with allspice, peppery, meaty, vanilla, dry and tannic. 8,2:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, intense, dirty, medicinal, chemical, burnt, fruity with dried and tropical, citrus fruits, molasses is vegetal, floral and oak is toasted, spicy, smoky.

Probably tasted in the wrong order against his clearly better brothers, but this guy doesn't really grab me. Alcohol only moderately integrated. There are better ones and it wouldn't be worth the asking price for me.

Part 2 of the Maison Fertand tasting. I like this Jamaican very much. On the nose mostly tropical fruits, but also slightly medicinal. On the palate the tropical fruits remain, citrus fruits and some caramel are added.

The nose actually made me want more with these intense notes of raisins, glue, cinnamon and confectionery. However, I don't think the New Yarmouth part comes through on the nose or in the taste... The medicinal, slightly bitter sweet and burnt note from Worthy Park is unfortunately also not quite what I hoped for. Could have been a nice blend but it's not really my thing.

A combination between Worthy Park and New Yarmouth that benefits from the best of both distilleries. Tropical fruits and citrus (orange) are present on the nose, before sweet and caramelized notes emerge alongside spices (pepper, cinnamon, vanilla) and toasted wood. A relatively soft and pleasant profile overall. The attack on the palate is initially soft and smooth. The spices mingle with dried fruits and orange zest to give some power. However, this strength is found in the tannins and phenols, here a bit more rustic and unbalanced, which give a rougher side on the palate in a second phase. The alcohol is not too badly integrated, but it could be better. The finish, quite long, leans more towards glue and tannins. There is a drier and warmer astringent side at the end of the mouth. Tropical fruits and spices take a large part of the aromatic bounty. A good Jamaican blend with a pleasant profile, but lacking imagination, depth, and complexity to reach the next level.

This Jamaica blend doesn't really grab me. Neither on the nose nor on the palate. It was just included in the sample set... bycatch to be able to drink something else. For me, nothing to drink neat. If I had spent over 100 euros on this, I would be a bit disappointed.

Nice rounded rum. Fruity but also spicy. Banana bread with cinnamon served on wood. Fresh in the glass, somewhat mineral. With more time, the wood becomes a bit musty. Well balanced on the palate, alcohol well integrated.
