Nee sorry mit Papa rouyo werde ich irgendwie nicht warm. Saure, überreife und vergorene Fruchtaromen sowie leicht vergammelte Kräuter, salzige und erdige Noten kommen hier zusammen. Der Alkohol ist auch zu präsent. Irgendwie sehr unausbalanciert und speziell. Trifft leider so gar nicht mein Geschmack. Schon Mal gar nicht zu dem Preis...

Notes taken at Rhum Fest 2024, Quick notes and a bit heavy palate, sorry :) Here we have: a true "classic" ESB with cane, a little fruit, especially orange and apricot? It's not easy as we move into the living room, and I'm less sharp, but I really enjoyed it. Very surprised by the current rating of this keel! Maybe the finish is a bit short.

A young rum from the Papa Rouyo distillery (the island's most recent to date), Velier has followed up its previous edition to find a mix between the aromas of unaged rum and the influence of aging on them. The result is a blend of slightly sweet vesuvial aromas, herbal and vegetal notes that rub shoulders with spices and young oak, supported by exotic fruits and a hint of caramel. A profile at the crossroads, without being revolutionary. The attack on the palate is even stranger: cane serves as an introduction before a battle between floral and vegetal flavors, exotic fruit, spicy wood and medicinal, fermented scents. Although the profile is varied, the whole is a bit all over the place and lacks homogeneity. The alcohol could be better integrated. The finish, of decent length, gives a little freshness at first, before letting the spices take over. A touch of caramelized roundness completes the picture. The desire to showcase a rum at its various stages of evolution is understandable, but this version will be neither the most memorable, nor the least expensive, alas.

Nose: bright. Dry apricots, sandal, yellow flowers, fish fat, nuts, spices, sugarcane. Really interesting. Taste: Hursh & bright. Sweet tropical fruits, sandal wood, honey, oily, toasted oak, sugarcane, some caramel, little bit peppery. Aftertaste: medium-long, dry, lot of dry fruits like mango & apricots, woody, spicy, little bit of almonds & drip of coffee. Total: interesting rum. Very important add water, and do it more, than usually ))

Jeune rhum agricole. Au nez, de l'eau-de-vie de fruits, je pense à de la poire Williams ou de la l'eau-de-vie de prune. Ca s'accompagne de notes végétales et épicées mais assez douces. En bouche, le fruit jaune se confirme avec de la poire, des épices douces et un boisé tres léger. La finale est extrêmement courte, elle nous laisse sur des notes végétales douces. En conclusion, un rhum sympathique a tester, sans grande prétention. Je ne pense pas qu'il vaille son prix mais ce n'est pas catastrophique non plus.

Nez décevant, bien choisir son verre, épices, rondeur, alcool . Bouche assez piquante, du peps, de la rondeur et des épices , un peu de bois et un fond de réglisse et de caramel. une finale assez moyenne, sur le sucre,la fraîcheur et une amertume apparaît sur la fin . Un peu cher pour ce rhum guadeloupéen , je pense qu un peu plus de vieillissement lui ferait pas de mal il manque un peu de corpet de charpente .
