Sipped neat, this is a sherry-soaked take on Haitian clairin: sour cherry and red fruit up front, burnt sugar, anise, a little glue and solvent underneath. Aged six years in ex-oloroso casks, it drinks fruity and full-bodied with warm, well-integrated 54% heat. The big split is the sherry — plenty love how it's woven in, others feel it buries the grassy Haiti character.

12.10.2024 Romhatten Velier tasting. Retasting and I still like it, price to quality is very good in my mind. ----------------- #4565 20.01.2024 Relaxing a bit today ☺️ This is a nice release with nice fruits and light spices. The glue and solvent notes are light and actually becomes the profile. The palate is oily, warm and naturally sweet with some added anise. The finish is medium long and also lightly sweet. The empty glass has medicinal and faint smoky notes.

A pleasant nose of wood and vanilla, but the palate didn't follow... Very disappointing, considering that the 4 ans is one of my favorite rums! ... the palate had something "diluted" about it, as if it had been cut with water, and it reminded me of an amber rum from the 90s... Could it be that my palate was tired from the many previous tastings, but I mustn't let this impression stay with me, I'm sure it's better than that!

I really like the sherry maturation. Compared to its 4-year-old brother, however, it lacks a little complexity. Nevertheless, a very good Haiti rum - especially if you like a (stronger) sherry influence.

Nice daily driver… Unfortunately, too much sherry influence for my taste. This clearly takes the upper hand here and suppresses the classic Haiti notes. With some time and some drops of water it shows also some notes of orange marmelade and figs.

A real sherry bomb. Very nice nose of red fruits and spices. Strong dark aromas. I like it very much. Blend of Sajous, Vaval and Casimir. Matured in 7 ex-Oloroso sherry casks from Lustau. Tropical for 6 years in Port Au Prince.

This Papalin contains a relatively high level of acidity with a hint of artificial sweetness. It also contains cherry fruit, allspice, sourdough yeast and burnt sugar. I find the acidity too high and the artificial aroma too strong.

With this blend of clairins that has spent its entire ageing period in sherry casks, Velier sees life as rosy. The nose is very intense, dominated by scents of cherry and red fruit, phenols and sherry, with a greedy spicy woodiness and candied, caramelized notes, followed by a light floral and vegetal touch. A concentrated nose, to say the least. The attack on the palate is no exception: an aromatic tsunami unfolds, ranging from red fruit (very ripe, cherry) to phenolic notes, sherry barrel, sweet spices, burnt sugar and a slight floral influence. The very syrupy texture lends consistency and gives the impression of drinking something very soft and sweet, almost sickening in the long run. The alcohol is fairly well integrated. The finish is firmer, with more medicinal notes (esters, glue, solvents), but still just as much cask influence, at once greedy, fruity and alcoholic, then slightly spicy (seasoned by salt). A lovely profile which, even if a little extreme on the sherry, makes it possible to introduce aged clairins to as many people as possible at a reasonable price.

Relaxed sherry sipper with the typical grassy Clairin aromas and some cherry on the finish. It is somewhat reminiscent of the polarizing Guadeloupe from the Madeira cask by Rom de Luxe without reaching its quality. For me, it also has slightly less complexity than the Papalin Haiti without sherry. Overall, however, it is still a good bottling and worth recommending.

The rum feels sweet and fruity in the mouth. It has a full body and a decently integrated alcohol. A true palette of flavors unfolds on the tongue - cherry, burnt tones, burnt sugar, sherry cask, aniseed, slight bitterness and tannins. The finish is medium long, the palate is slightly alcoholic, there is sweetness in the throat, cherries, cane sugar, sherry - a little too much sherry. The finish is ok but from sip to sip the sherry becomes too dominant for me.

Tolle, an Rancio erinnernde Aromatik in der Nase von satt-reifen dunklen Früchten. Am Gaumen Trockenfruchtnoten, grüner Pfeffer, getoastetes Holz, Süsse von Zuckerrohr und kandierten Früchten. Sehr überraschende Melange von dunklen Früchten und Cognac-Aromen, die intuitiv an deutlich länger gereifte Destillate denken lassen, bevor die extreme Frucht- und Zuckerrohrfrische zum Tragen kommen. Spannend und schon auf eindrücklichem Reifestadium.

Well, unfortunately I don't find this rum really convincing. The sherry is once again clearly evident and takes away a lot of the base. I would rather classify it as an easy sipper.

An excellent Haitian rum. On the nose it is really good. On the palate the black cherry notes dominate over the typical Haitian rum notes but overall it is a good palate. Very sweet and warm finish. The Papalin Haiti confirm to be my favorite of the series. This one probably surpasses even the Papalin Haiti 4 year old.

Thats a very complexed rum! Wow! Barrels tend to destroy all of the Haitian goodies, not in this case though. The smell is very scrumptious, i would describe it as toasty chemical cherry lollipops in a candy store with this sweet, perfumy smell. The flavour profile of that goodie is very nuansed. The first thing is just the very sweet sherry and red fruit flavour which is supported with noticeable esters and solvents. The blend appears to have a slight roasty, burnt sugar flavour surrounding that does not overwhelm the whole profile, but its beautifully compliments the whole mixture. It has some mushroomy, cheeselike notes. Has some spicy chilli like tingling. And last but not least it has wood characteristics, besides the sherry barrel it has a pencil shavings with graphite flavour. The sweet vinegarish red fruit chemicallike flavours pleasently linger and create a marvellous experience for Your tastebuds. True craftsmanship of the rum blending and a fabulous addition to the Papalin line. Highly reccomended

The sherry cask is immediately noticeable and brings some sweetness. Vanilla, cherry, also some glue. Sour cherry at first sip. Notes of aniseed, vanilla and some barrel aromas follow. The RumX leads into a slightly sweet finish characterized by the sherry cask. Overall, a very drinkable blend
