Well-liked but not without a caveat: this old Port Mourant leans dry and herbal, with anise, licorice and grass over a woody, tannic core. Prunes and tropical fruit soften it, but the finish turns hot and bitter — one taster reckons it was bottled just past its peak. At 23 years and 51.5%, it's a Guyanese pour built for slow, analytical sipping.

Typical PM with herbs, licorice, wood. Overall round, but a clear bitterness on the finish. In my opinion, it was bottled past its prime.

🔹 The Wild Parrot Guyana 1999 - 51.5% A Port Mourant distilled in 1999 at Uitvlugt, before the still was transferred to Diamond. Its herbaceous, aniseed nose precedes an intense palate, marked by wood and astringency softened by tropical fruit. A warm, dry finish, intriguing to analyze.

A beautiful explosion on the palate. Balanced with a note of sulkiness but dry and fruity at the same time. A real pleasure.
