Vanilla, cocoa and a little wood over a light, almost delicate body — this is a continental-aged Diamond, and it tastes like it. Several members found the nose more interesting than the palate, with a short finish that keeps letting it down. One taster reckoned it would shine with tropical ageing instead. Pleasant and easy, but low on depth.

Back to a double sample generously shared by my buddy Thomas TBRC - Diamond 12Y Savalle Still - 53.9% Although the old Uitvlugt distillery closed its doors in 1999, its famous Savalle column still operates within Demerara Distillers Limited, the last active distillery in Guyana, founded the same year. Aromatically and taste-wise, it is puzzling, even evoking, at the very end of the palate, a Scottish single malt. A relatively fine and light continental ICBU. The aromas, though subtle, are well present. The finish, however, lacks a bit of length.

Nice light rum from Guyana. On the nose first come notes of glue, esters, lime, pear. The wood is not so much in the foreground here. You also notice an underlying sweetness, paired with floral and very light vanilla notes. The alcohol is subtly noticeable here. On the palate it feels nicely soft, slightly syrupy and oily. In terms of taste, the fruity tones come through, pear and apples, medicinal notes, the cask finally knocks too, plus notes of walnuts and slightly peppery/herbal tones. The ABV is well integrated here, despite 53.9% it doesn't feel like it at all. The finish is short, with syrupy, fruity, walnut-like and medicinal nuances. All in all one of the lighter types from Guyana, but wonderfully drinkable.

Rather bitey on the nose. Some wood and vanilla and a „creamy“ sensation - vanilla creme I‘d say. A hint of smoke. Not very exciting tbh. Surprisingly sweet and enjoyable on the palate. Vanilla confectionery. While enjoyable there isn’t a lot to discover with limited comlexity. I prefer the palate over the nose and while not bad it’s just to straight forwards to be exciting.

An ICBU-marked, continental-climate-aged rum from Guyana, with a wide range of fragrances, especially on the nose. There's floral and herbaceous freshness, a good pinch of spice (chili, pepper, vanilla), toasty woodiness, candied fruit and hints of almond and caramel. An aromatic yet airy nose. The attack on the palate is less complex. Sweet flavors of brown sugar, candied fruit, caramel and fruit (dried, tropical, nuts, cake) reveal themselves one by one, before the equally gourmand spices coat the palate with notes of spice, umami and vanilla. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is a step back from the rest. More direct, spicier, drier and less abundant, it's less convincing, though not shoddy either. A well-crafted rum, pleasant to drink and offering good value for money.

The first nose I found very alcoholic and sharp despite the low ABV. Over time it settles a bit. The color is very light and taste-wise for me definitely recognizable that it probably had little to no tropical aging. As a conclusion not really bad, but also not a hit. Overall it feels a bit thin. A sipper for a mild summer evening.

On the nose I find restrained cocoa and a slight freshness. On the palate then somewhat alcoholic, again cocoa and a very slight bitterness, plus light toast aromas. The finish is short. Phew, for my taste this is nothing, I'd rather drink a Compagnero. I sank the rest from the glass into my cola.

Guyana is either a crush or a disappointment. Here I'd say a disappointment. The nose is very light, it takes me a while to catch defined aromas. The palate starts spicy/bitter which passes quickly to evolve into sweetness. Finish is not very persistent. I took a bigger sip, my mouth was numb.

Nose light and with some wood, vanilla, spices, dried fruit and some liquorice. Then on the palate with pepper and a few candied fruits and salt. Not bad at all, but not a winner either. I'd like to try it with tropical storage ... I think that would suit it much better.

A relatively thin and light continental ICBU. The aromas are not particularly pronounced, but present. It almost passes for a sipper. If the finish had been a little longer, it could definitely have achieved a "very good" rating.

Interesting bottling, as nose and palate differ quite a bit. The nose is fresh and everything is somewhat delicate. On the palate spicier with more wood, but also distinct alcohol aromas. Here the rum loses quite a few points.

Tasted at a friend's stand! Fine & light; butter; vanilla, mainly chocolate. In my opinion, too little aromatic and with a finish too coiffed for this price. It goes down easily, but lacks depth.

Not terrible but not great. Light and almost easy drinking. Screams continental ageing. Nose is better than palate. Not very complex at all.
