A rum tasted at the GRF in 2024, CoR masterclass and with friends. A nose of wood, caramel, tropical fruit, honey and light oak. The attack is lively, with aromas dominating a well-integrated alcohol. Spices, much more than on the nose, and a slight tar. The finish is moderately long, but too dominated by honey and wood. An atypical TDL, sweeter and above all darker and less fruity than usual.

CoR-Tasting GRF13: Very minty fresh TDL with some herbal notes. Alcohol is clearly noticeable and present. All in all an appealing bottling, but it doesn't come close to the 2001-2003 vintages. It should have been given a little more time to develop

Beautiful intense and versatile T.D.L nose. I mainly find eucalyptus, red fruits, mint and spice. The initially pungent alcohol disappears quickly. The palate is also beautifully intense with the floral notes in the foreground. The aromas all continue in the finish. Dryness and slight bitterness are added here. A very typical 2009 T.D.L, with passably integrated alcohol.

A delightful TDL with more than one aroma in its robe. The nose is soft on spices (pepper, sweet pepper, vanilla, licorice), leather, wood and sweet notes (caramel, brown sugar, popcorn), but gradually reveals the distillery's typical aromas: menthol, eucalyptus, black tea, flowers, fruit (peach, blackcurrant) perfume the nostrils. A pleasant, enticing profile. The attack on the palate takes on a new intensity, with notes of menthol, petrol and tar. Spices and salty notes follow with roasted wood and brown caramel. Dried fruits, peaches, red berries and black tea are also present. The profile is fresh but dry, with an oily texture. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is long, blending the roundness of spices and brown sugar with more intense menthol, mineral and borderline terpenic notes. Dried fruit, peach and red berries add a touch of deliciousness to this dry, tannic finish. A lovely TDL that drinks very well for its vintage and age.

Absolutely stable 2009 TDL. Strongly reminiscent of peach iced tea on the nose and palate, with salted caramel, 70% cocoa chocolate and creme brulee with mint, powdered sugar, raspberries and peaches as a garnish. Delicious. Unusually mineral on the finish.

Whisky Fair Rhein-Ruhr Düsseldorf April 2026. And then another T.D.L. It's like with Hampden, "almost" always the same :) Lots of mint, eucalyptus and menthol. On the palate also some salt and pepper. But really tasty :)

30-08-2025 - Rate 8.5 German Rum Festival The last rum tasted at Colours of Rum’s stand. They took very good care of us. Hope to see them in Denmark at some point. We are all fans of their Up Spirity Club # 3 bottle. This TDL is almost as good as the Up Spirits. Nose with notes of methanol, mint, herbal and oak. Palate with mint, wood, methanol and salt. Medium finish dominated by methanol and wood. 16-01-2026 - Rate 8.7 02-08-2026 - Rate 8.8

On the nose lots of fruit, some menthol (mint), but also spicy and roasted aromas are present. Overall very appealing. On the palate quite sweet and round. Some caramel, vanilla and tea. Not particularly complex, but still tasty!

Nose: caramel, popcorn, red fruits, well rounded. Palate: full TDL as I like it, lots of red and yellow fruit, well-integrated oak, some tannins, well-integrated spices. Finish: long, fruity, smoky with a menthol veil that gradually thickens. I was skeptical when I first tasted it, but in the end I fell in love with it! TDL as I like it.

From my point of view, initially a classic TDL representative with pleasant mint but a lot of oomph and then far too bitter.... Nose: the alcohol strength is a real nose pull. But once you get used to the 63%, the beautiful mint and fruit aromas come into their own. Fresh mint with a caramelly maple syrup sweetness, sour gooseberry, green apple and light peach. Chamomile tea at the back and the caramel comes through thickly again. A little too sharp on the nose. 8.4 Palate: very powerful, minty and incredibly bitter-salty. This combination is dry and woody with plenty of tannins. Spicy with nutmeg. Perhaps something of grapefruit peel. Far too bitter for my taste to be enjoyable. 7,6

Nice expression from the T.D.L. 2009 vintage. On the nose it's quite floral, but there's also some sweet caramel, dried fruits and of course mint. On the palate salty caramel notes dominate with some woody tannins and peaches with nectarines, which also show in the finish. At the end they are accompanied by a hint of mint. A little alcoholic and peppery in the finish.

GRF 2014 CoR tasting: Rather weak TDL 2009, I wouldn't have recognized it blind. Slight mint in the background, otherwise rather alcoholic. Little fruit, slightly peppery. Not my profile, although I usually like the TDL.

This is a Trinidad rum with serious power! Strong herbal notes, wood, and berries. The nose first shows caramel, mint, and herbs. Then come fruity notes of peach and dried fruits. Molasses and licorice lead back to a spicy side with eucalyptus and oak. On the palate, the strong alcohol strength first comes through. Mint, wood, and pepper lead over to dried fruits, berries, salty licorice, oak, molasses, and are finely rounded off by vanilla and peach. It drinks almost like a very spicy Armagnac. The long and intense finish has mint, wood notes, molasses, green pepper, and dark chocolate. A fresh and herbal side appears and fades out with notes of dried fruits and raspberries. A slight roasted note also remains. I find this rum very appealing due to its intensity and aroma spectrum. Thanks to @Skyfly for the great sample 😊

Tasted at Liquid Leuven ‘23, so my review remains rather concise. Exceedingly cool (as in: cold) aroma of eucalyptus and spearmint. Then darker sugars and herbal black tea, supported by dried fruits and pinetree resin. Quite linear. In the mouth more of the same, but sent in overdrive. Extremely fresh with eucalyptus and After Eights. Subsequently herbal and spicy with notes of oregano, black tea, licorice and black pepper. Backbone of forest fruits. Eventually lightly dirty, oily, and petrolated. The finish is quite short, yet cool and sweet with menthol and heaps of brown sugar.

I have to say guys, and Colors of the Rum really know these Trinidads. Already on the nose pleasant technique, fruit and mint, on the palate then a big load of menthol, fruit and wood. At the same time I still feel a bit of sweetness to a bit of dirt. Nice piece.

Beautiful matte bottle under 100 euros. You can feel the alcohol, but very drinkable. I recommend it even to beginner rum drinkers to discover new flavors. The mint from TDL is an unmistakable taste that you will never get tired of.

Nice expression from the T.D.L. 2009 vintage. It's quite flowery on the nose, but there's also some sweet caramel, dried fruits and, off course, mint (for me rather dried one). On the palate I get dominant salty caramel notes with some woody tannins and peaches with nectarines showing also in the finish. At the end they are accompanied by a bit of the mintiness.

A beautiful TDL. Intense wet notes of mint, eucalyptus, solvent, spicy, cocoa. Very tasty on the palate, tastes of mint, roasted, smoky leather flavor. Nicely woody and spiced. Alcohol is well integrated. Nice long woody finish with mint notes.

This one blows your socks off. What a impressive flavour concentration. The finish is really really long too. I had to proof it down a bit by adding water to enjoy it even more.

An interesting TDL, with a warm, enveloping and sweet aroma, and an intense salty-dry taste with a sweet and long finish. In the aroma mainly dried and candied fruits, molasses, vanilla, a bit of eucalyptus and mint. In the taste lots of flowers and orange peel; mint, eucalyptus, coconut water, dark chocolate and tobacco, possibly even tar. The finish lasts long, is pleasant with notes of espresso, bitter chocolate, dried fruits and cigar. Very tasty rum, bottled at the right time. Longer aging, I suspect, could add even more spices and oak (which are already present), and reduce freshness and fruitiness, which are very elegant here.

Interestingly, on the first sip I had an absolute Armagnac/Cognac bokeh (L'encantada and Lheraud) on the palate. On the nose, I have intense scents of oak, honey, black tea, and dark but sour berries. On the palate then an intense taste of Armagnac but of course also Trinidad with herbs, roasting, molasses, and wood. Everything is accompanied by rock candy sweetness. In the finish, a bit more Guyana-typical honeycomb comes through. Also, a subtle sweetness with roasted aromas (nuts) accompanies black tea, cocoa, herbs, and oak.
