A rum tasted at WLP and GRF. A dark and woody nose, a bit vegetal, caramel and licorice and a clear note of Earl Grey tea (bergamot). A very woody mouth with black tea and a compote of prunes and other dark-profile fruits. The finish is way too bitter to get a better rating.

A nice Enmore REV on paper, the nose is attractive and warm with spices and dark notes ranging from coffee and cocoa to more roasted and woody aromas, passing through touches of prunes and hints of tobacco and aromatic herbs. A structured nose that lacks a little depth compared to other Enmore wines of the same mark. The palate is warm and comforting, like a good drink during the cold of winter. Black tea, oak, spices and prunes mingle to produce something easy-drinking, but lacking in character with the rather low alcohol content. The cask influence is noticeable, perhaps a little extreme, and despite notes of licorice and salt that remain appreciable, it's not enough to create emotion. The finish brings this rum to an end, too short and bitter. Baked caramel, molasses, heavy fruit sweetness and dark notes of Demerara are not enough to make up for the structural shortcomings of the product, which is clearly among the least spectacular in its category. This may sound like a high-flying review, but the price and the mark impose a certain requirement that we don't necessarily find here.

Trade fair rating. For a REV rather in the lower range, yet not bad. The average rating does not do this rum justice, but if you are looking for high outstanding quality, better choose other REVs.

Come on, 45% is not good enough .. Enmore - a drive distillery, now just a functional distillation device. Probably the only wooden distillation device in the world that is very popular. Enmore rums have a taste of ash, leather, heavy wood, which especially excites lovers of smoky whiskies. And if the producer adds a bit of molasses to the rum in the traditional Guyanese way, you have a unique, very pronounced and heavy rum in the bottle. One of my favorites.

German Rum Festival 2026 reviews. I quickly tasted this rum part of Colours of Rum tasting so its a quick review and notes from that. On the nose: Woody, light roasted notes, earthy notes like tobacco. Dried fruits like raisins. Black tea notes. Taste: Woody, roasted, little bit of spices, herbal notes. Black tea notes. Dark palate. Finish: Quite dry and bitter finish with leather notes, light dried fruit notes, earthy tobacco notes. Little bit of spicy notes in the background. I dont think i need a retasting of this rum. I would put this in mid category It is a solid rum, but doesnt really have a interesting and complex palate in order to receive higher score.

I think that REV 1994 is on the average a great year and mark for Demerara rum. I'm revisiting it through a sample I got at Milano whisky festival. This selection confirms the impression, although it's weaker than other REV1994 I tried it's still a great rum. On the nose, it's like a black tea, very tannic and woody, but there is also some burnt caramel. A really interesting nose. Palatewise, it is too roasted and bitter to be fully appreciated, even after a long time in the glass. Unfortunately this reduces a lot my evaluation.

Tasted at rumfest ‘24 with Carsten of Scheer. Very expensive, but let’s be real, this is without a doubt an 8+ rum. Some are to obsessed with ABV. Huge hit of salty black liquorice and insane density of flavour for the ABV. DELISH!

Nose full of dried plums, tobacco, leather, and chocolate. Mouth oily, dense, with notes of chocolate, plums, dried fruit, and black tea. Longer, intense finish with a slower transition to bitter notes, as is usual with REV.
