Anyone who already loves Neisson and Martinique agricole will recognize this instantly. Cask strength at 54.6%, it's young, lively and vegetal — sugarcane, a little cherry pit, nougat sweetness and delicate oak, with the alcohol nicely woven in for a full-proof pour. Members rate the juice well but keep saying the same thing: good, even elegant, just not the most original Neisson.

Good rum. It stops there. I found it young, lively, vegetal. Basically it's good, there's the potential to become a great rum but today it's just good. At around 200€ a keel, I'd definitely go for an XO, because it's expensive for what it is...

Round Neisson with a fairly typical profile. Beautiful nougat sweetness, some wood, plus some youthful freshness. Pleasant and elegant.

The Straight from the Barrel 88 left us a nice impression with a very rich nose of candied exotic fruit, very delicate woodiness. On the palate, you could feel the power but the whole was still well integrated. The palate very good on notes of cocoa, jam of ripe fruits with a slightly tangy side not unpleasant at all, seemed very rigid, very conventional. You find the Martinique terroir and the very standardized Neisson touch, but as often with old Neisson, we thought it lacked originality. The finish on vanilla and some spices spreads over a pleasant and languorous length. Other distilleries do better on the wow factor for less than this bottle at about €190. However, it is a very good rum.

I'm only rating the juice here, without looking at the price. For me, it's a very round old rum with some fruits and notably a little cherry pit, but blindly I wouldn’t pay more than €70 a bottle. At €200 it makes no sense!

A pretty good juice for 5yrs of age but if you pay 200€ for this you are stupid. Sorry for going full dutch uncle here but it needs to be said.
