Three years in cask does more than you'd expect here. This Haitian cane-juice rum drinks rounder and more mature than its age, with cinnamon, milk chocolate and dried apricot up front, plus a fresh sugarcane thread underneath. Several tasters call it a hybrid — part fresh agricole, part classic caramel-and-wood. Alcohol sits well at 52%. The finish, though, tends to fade fast.

Most helpful positive review
Nose is surprisingly „mature“ for the short time in the barrel. The cask seems to put in quite some work. Vanilla, honey and milk chocolate remind me of some virgin cask bottlings I have tried. All alongside some flowery notes. Pretty nice. On the palate notes are similar with honey and vanilla. Some fruits and candied ginger also show up alongside a cane juice sensation. Also pretty nice - pleasantly surprised by this one.

Slightly more straightforward than the previous release, but pleasantly accessible and delicious with notes of caramel, vanilla and milk chocolate, dried fruit, pepper and cinnamon. A highly recommended easy-drinking rum.

It's also a registered rum, but it can't fully convince me. Various spices are noticeable, mainly vanilla and cinnamon, a bit of wood can be detected, but chocolate and cocoa are also present.

I like it almost a tick better than the 2019 caroni cask finish, as the actual Port Au Prince Haiti character and its terroir come across more naturally and unadulterated. Cinnamon, cocoa, raisin, dried kiwi and date, fresh sugar cane, roasted nuts and baked apple. Very round and harmonious! Whether it's worth €90 is another question...

Very nice bottling, definitely comes across as rounder than the 2019 edition. Seems relatively sweet, sugary without tasting sweetened. Goes towards toffee, cream, and caramel. Plus fruity notes of yellow fruits and dates. In the finish, some herbs come through, almost like an Enmore - but that might have been a one-off perception.

Fully respected the starting raw material i.e. crystalline sugar cane, one of the best and pure in the world! The ex-providence cask remains really unobtrusive and gives it some toasted and woody notes without covering the rest of the aromas! Too bad only for im finish that fades quickly!

Nose: bright. Lot of coconut & cinnamon. Orange, dry apricots, milk chocolate, honey, toasted wood, caramel, little bit of wax & esters. Taste: Dry. Bitter orange zest, toasted oak, ginger, almond (amigdaline), cinnamon, some dry fruits & touch of esters. Aftertaste: medium, with some medicine notes, little bit of esters, dry fruits, cinnamon & bitterness... Overall: nice rum, but not the perfect. I wanna more complex & more esters, for this money. Not best of price.

This rum surprised me in a great way! I found it to be an extremely we’ll integrate mix of the fresh cane juice rum with the barrel maturation notes. This rum has a lot of different flavors going on and they work well together.

Light nose. Light fruit. Somewhat cinnamony on the nose. Sweet taste, nicely round and caramelly. Very pleasant. Medium to long finish. Pleasant rum but with a slight spiciness. Nice sipper.

Here we have a nice hybrid profile from Haiti that benefits from aging (albeit relatively short) to develop. The nose offers a pleasant mix of cinnamon, milk chocolate, vanilla, dried apricot, coconut, and sweeter notes of cane. A fresher, more agricultural tone leaning towards wood adds expression to this hybrid. It's easy to approach and engaging for what's to come. On the palate, the profile gains character with esters, vegetal flavors, but also darker tones of roasted hazelnut and toast. Dried fruits, nuts, cinnamon, and milk chocolate are still present and bring a beautiful harmony to this atypical profile. You can feel that aging adds a lot to this profile, and it's nice to see more and more older vintages from this terroir. The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish, moderately long, innovates by bringing dried date, lime, and caramel toffee for a welcome roundness and indulgence. You can still sense the agricultural, vegetal, and spicy hints, but the whole is balanced and lets each aroma express itself. A great discovery and a clean, interesting rum, with the real downside being the price, very high for a rum of this caliber.

Sharp nose with more alcohol and pool chemical than the proof implies. Mellow acidic fruit, hint of pickle and herbs, less banana than expected initially Less alcohol on palate initially but brings some warmth later. Smooth texture but verging on the thin. Little herbal. Banan grows, but green and peel. Some baked and spice vibes but I am not getting banana bread.

For only 3 years of maturation, it has become a well-rounded bottling. The alcohol is well integrated, slightly fruity, spicy and slightly sweet. Not particularly complex, but I'm curious to see what longer ageing will bring out of this vintage.

Wonderfully complex fruit aroma with a whole range of fruits. Somehow cinnamony on the palate with great spice. You wish you could feel more of the nose on the palate, but it's still a wonderful rum overall.

This Providence comes as a pleasant surprise. A pure juice in which the cane remains sensitive. The wood is present on both the nose and the palate. Notes of cinnamon and chocolate. Surprising length. I found it very appealing.

To me better than the 2019 with more character and fruity notes. A spicy nose, more cinnamon and baked apple, some caramel. The mouth is more apple with some dark brown sugar and a hint of bubblegum. The finish is medium, longer than the 2019, and brings some bitter orange before ending with an edge of anise. Solid but not exceptional

01-03-2025 Decent Providence. Not bad at all. But the 2019 and 2021 is slightly better. Feel like saying classic young Haiti. Lots of fruit and a smooth rounded young taste. Alcohol well integrated.
