Give it 20 minutes in the glass — this one doesn't show up right away. Once it opens you get leather, tobacco and roasted, almost charred wood over a dark tropical-fruit base, with a thread of menthol running underneath. One taster called it "dark but absolutely pleasant," and that's the read: a big, brooding 15-year Saint Lucia pot still. At 59% the heat mostly stays in check, though a few felt the alcohol could be tighter.

Great complexity, a bit edgier than the sister release from 2010, but the Chairmans remain almost through the bank absolutely convincing releases - so also here.

Tasted in the Fünfer Chairman’s Flight. Unfortunately, for me, even behind the bottling from Cask&Bottle. I find this copper note that I taste rather a bit disturbing and would call it a flaw. Unfortunately, it doesn't really suit my taste.

Tasted as a sample alongside the master selection for rum stylez. Two completely different profiles leading to a rather similar woody/violet finish. Here the woodiness is stronger, the sugar is burnt. The whole is rather dark.

A very good Saint Lucia. Great nose that bodes very well. On tasting, especially in the first few sips you can taste a little too much alcohol which, in my opinion, has not been integrated very well. Otherwise, it is a really good product. I definitely recommend tasting it!

This rum did sit in the glass for a good 20 minutes before it opened up. On the nose: Strong notes of tobacco, leather and roasted notes. Little bit of earthy, methol at the back and also little bit of grated nutmeg. Taste: Leather, woody and spice notes dominate the profile. A little bit of dry and dirty mouthfeel. Little bit of caramel notes. A bit too alcoholic. Finish: Toasted, woody notes and menthol notes in the background. Medium finish. It wasnt alcohol heavy, but integration of the alcohol could have been better and also maybe too much leather and tobacco notes for my liking.

A very nice surprise, this juice. First of all a very pretty color. It is very expressive, with beautiful notes of leather, caramel, menthol, a bit of glue... and lots of fruit. On the palate, you find these sensations and it is very pleasant. The alcohol is very well integrated. The length is quite appreciable.

A nice expression, tasted in a Chairman's reserve lineup, it stood amongst the best. Nice leather-ey and woody profile, really dark but absolutely pleasant. With a bit of rest it opens up and especially at the nose has an interesting vanilla sugar note.

The aroma offers notes of tobacco, saddle, fruit, and wood. On the palate, leather, wood, and fruit continue to shine. The finish is relatively long. A solid release from St. Lucia, though the alcohol integration could be improved.

Frankonian Tasting Gang - 21.03.2025 - Nuremberg: Five Chairman's Reserve in a small cross tasting. The Horizon has a very dominant, mega-fruity nose. Right after pouring, it's there, while the others still need some time to unfold. After a while, RdL and RA catch up. Similar picture on the palate, the three would be my favorites, while the LMDW is too woody for me and the Cask&Bottle has too much finish.

In contrast to other Chairmans, it falls somewhat short. Very bitter, astringent, menthol, not very fruity, somewhat smoky with hints of whisky. For me, this rum has passed its zenith in the cask.

Tasted at Whisky Live, great selection, another delicious Saint Lucia, bursting with fruit and very well balanced. The woodiness is indeed noble and stays in its place, bearing in mind that once the bottle is opened it will tend to diminish further, so this rum can only improve over time. Distilled in Vendôme

Magnificent bottle. Rounder and more floral than its little sister from 2010, more balanced. We stay on a roasted, caramel, woody profile, even a bit burnt but menthol is present.

Another great Chairman’s Reserve! I start to appreciate them more and more. This one needs a bit of time to open up but will reward you with a mix of tropical fruity notes and dirty industrial tones compared with leather and tobacco. The Vendôme pot still really brings out a beautiful bouquet of aromas!
