Sipped neat, this drinks like a bridge between two styles: the nose opens on caramel, honey and beeswax like a traditional rum, then the grassy agricole side pushes through on the palate. Candied tropical fruit, orange and dried fruit sit up front before sugarcane and aromatic herbs take the long, drying finish. At 58% the alcohol stays well integrated for its proof.

Unlike its brut de fût counterpart, this Isautier focuses on balance and accessibility. The nose is soft, with caramel, beeswax, candied and tropical fruits, orange and dried fruits. Spices (nutmeg, vanilla, pepper) and wood come later, accompanied by a floral breeze. On the palate, a vegetal aura first intrudes, before sugarcane and fruit take over. The same fruity flavors and spices are present on the whole. The alcohol is better integrated than in the brut de fût version. The finish is very long, initially focused on dried fruit and citrus (orange), before giving way to a drier, more tannic tone: spicy and agricultural notes on aromatic herbs radically change the face of the rum on the finish. A more controlled profile than the brut de fût, while retaining a beautiful expression.

An extraordinary nose, which for me is a mix of yeast, honey, caramel, and citrus fruits. Seems very sweet and round. On the palate similar, but spicier and less convincing because it feels a bit thin.

First nose with caramel and honey, just like a traditional rum, although this is an agricole. Same on the palate with grassy notes in the end where the typical agricole taste shines through, but very good embedded. Second sip after 10 minutes is more grassy like a classic agricole, but still very smooth and easy drinking. A little bit like a crossover, but with best of two worlds. Really great one!

A quick taste of Live, so not great conditions, but I didn't think it was crazy. Well, that's about it, as are my notes, so I won't be able to tell you much more unfortunately 😅.
