Isautier L'Audacieux Rhum Vieux Agricole - Brut de fût (LMDW) 2006
Citrus marmalade, fresh sugarcane and a rack of Christmas spice — nutmeg, ginger, clove, vanilla — and somehow at 72.8% the nose barely stings. The palate is another story: it hits hot and biting, all spice, wood and sharp orange, then settles as the fruit pushes back. A few drops of water pull out caramel and bitter orange. Dry, tense, alive.

A rum tasted at the WLP. A surprisingly light nose according to the ABV. Very ripe tropical fruit, a slight smokiness and a citrus edge. The sting of alcohol quickly gives way to fruit that develops with discreet wood. The finish is balanced and rather long. A very fine rum.

06.09.2025 Retasting with 5 of the local guys and I really like it a lot. ABV integration is near perfect and the Agricole notes are very harmonious in the overall profile. Wood and fruits are also in very good balance. Luckily I have 2 of these bottles plus the brother that is a non Agricole version equally high in ABV. ----------------- #4324 21.10.2023 Whisky Live 2023

Extremely powerful and intense - without being too beastly. Great exceptional rum!

Impressive nose, which is not pungent despite the 73%. Beautiful aromas of citrus fruits that have been cooked into marmalade, various spices such as nutmeg, ginger, vanilla and allspice and star anise and of course fresh sugar cane. The alcohol is definitely noticeable on the palate, although not too strong. Some chili and ginger are added and then again the spices, the wood and the citrus notes. After a little dilution to around 60%, a nice caramel note with spicy ginger and bitter orange emerges. Aromatically exciting but nothing I would need a bottle of. Actually reminds me subtly of 2007 Australians in the finish!

It's interesting to taste these very high proof rums that explode in aroma. Here, citrus, vanilla and cane. A touch of pastry. Strong, warm and biting on the palate. Woody but not too woody. Explosive!

Isautier flexes its muscles with this extremely powerful brut de fût vintage. The nose, however, shows a rather delicate expression, with beautiful pastry and caramel notes that go well with vesou, fruit and citrus marmalade, and spices (vanilla, nutmeg, chili). A fresh breeze of flowers adds a welcome touch of complexity. The attack on the palate is like an atomic bomb. Very taut, the rum reveals its share of spices (chili, ginger), aromatic herbs and vigorous citrus fruits that want to make their way onto the palate. The result is a dry, powerful rum that blows like a dragon on the palate. The finish lingers like a flame on the palate. The fruit gives way to a spicy woodiness, enhanced by cloves and roasted notes. Then come more vegetal and herbaceous notes with vesuvius, more biting and contrasting with the darker notes. The finish is dry, with tannins also making their presence felt. A very lively, nervous rum that needs time to express itself fully.

The esters are present and the ABV perfectly integrated. I'd go so far as to say surprisingly good! Hints of Christmas spices and, paradoxically, a smooth finish. A wonderful discovery.

Forest honey citrus gingerbread powerful attack on alcohol but calms down quite quickly! dry finish on the aftertaste of esters, not outstanding aromatically, but interesting.
