A pleasant live surprise. I found the profile quite original, pleasant to taste and the price is cool. So to be retested, but it's the kind of bottle I'd definitely buy as a nice easy sipper.

A pleasant discovery. A pastry profile that makes it easy to drink. Not insanely complex, but pleasant. It also appealed to the uninitiated. Edit: I'm raising my rating because the value for money is still super interesting. The bourbon brings a nice sweetness. It's easy enough to drink without being devoid of interest.

Decent, integrity rum from Thailand without additives and colouring. The profile is pretty sweet and reminds me of a bourbon. Nothing complex but an easy daily sipper. I imagine this being a good mixer as well.

Surprisingly easy-drinking and smooth rum from Thailand. Coffee, raisin, dried fruits, nougat, dark chocolate, and light notes of pastry and candied ginger. You can definitely go for it, and it works well in cocktails! :)

Overall, I find this rum from Thailand quite sweet. It's quite good to drink neat, better than I would have thought. More in the easy sipping category. As a mixer in the CubaLibre, it's also on the sweet vanilla sugar side. Nice to have tried, but I wouldn't need any more of it now.

On the nose, I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful tropical ripeness and cocoa notes. The palate is then somewhat one-dimensional, even if it has something interesting at its core.

Very nice recommendation from Rodolphe, a rum from a distillery near Bangkok. The nose already reminds a lot of Foursquare - the palate fully confirms this impression. Sweet influences with red fruits, cookie dough, vanilla, and cask aromas. I compared it with the Bottleshop 8yo Barbados, Doorlys 8 and 14 - it is damn close to the 14yo, the 8yo is definitely not as good as the Shakara. Great discovery, I'm very curious about the 15yo! Kevin tested it at WLP 2025 and declared it excellent.

Day trip Münster July 2025. Shop Sasse at the Cathedral. Won over a rum from Lake Constance thanks to better rating. Slightly sweetish but totally okay, vanilla, caramel and honey, also some wood and coffee on the palate.

Very pleasing nose, very sweet, tending towards cookie dough with woody hints of coffee. Smells like a nice sipper. Unfortunately quite one-dimensional in the mouth, has something of a sweetish bourbon.

I took this sample as a recommendation. Nose is in caramel and vanilla mainly, with some fruits. It's a very common profile but the caramel is nice here. On the mouth, it's a lot of sweetness, lots of vanilla too, caramel again, a bit of gentle spices in the back and some wood. Final is surprisingly long, it's vanilla, pastries and caramel. It's a very dessert ish rum, nice that it's 45% as it adds some body. It's a good price quality ratio. May be too sweet for some.

The nose gives off a lot of alcohol vapor, but aside from that it is very woody. The palate is a mix of caramel, vanilla, sweetness with strongly charred barrels. The taste fades into a nice melding of those flavors leaving a pleasant after taste.

A puzzling rum, with unexpected flavors in keeping with its terroir and aging. The nose is ultra-dominated by pastry notes, notably caramel, cookie dough and confectionery. Fruits can be detected, struggling against chocolate, greedy wood and spices not to be completely absorbed. A very surprising olfactory experience. The attack on the palate is extremely mellow. It's like drinking a cookie, with notes of chocolate, caramel, roasted hazelnuts, vanilla and a hint of salt. Although it's (normally) a no-additives product, this bottling is a real treat. Dried fruits, lime, floral tones, toasty wood and spices complete a very smooth profile, where the alcohol goes unnoticed. The finish is of good quality, on cookie, chocolate, spices, caramel and pastry. There's a hint of greenness on the very finish, giving a little oxygen to this extremely concentrated profile. It's clearly not what you think of when you think of 12 years of tropical aging for a Thai rum, and while it may prove a little nauseating in the long run, the value for money remains remarkable.

Interesting rum with full 12 years of tropical aging, no colouring and sugar added. The aromas are very inviting, unfortunately the taste and finish are kind of standing behind. Still, I can say this is a pretty solid rum I will definitely want to taste again.

Whisky Live Paris 2025 - to be tasted again to confirm the score and notes. A good easy-sipping rum with an amazing price-quality ratio. Sweet and tasty, with caramel and vanilla plus some wood on the palate. This rum can somehow recall a foursquare, but it's a tad more intense in terms of taste.

Nose obviously has caramel and sweetness, but even turning into fudge/toffee and maybe some fruity bubble gum. Taste is not that sweet anymore but quite mellow still. A bit burned and some saltiness. Quite long finish with maybe burned sugar.

On the nose, you find cooked apple, a slight varnish side and cooked caramel. On the palate, it warms up, the peppery side is quite present. It's quite lively.

Nose Nice orange marmalade. A caramel and cherry reduction. A vegetal background note. Maybe a husky side and grassy, like dry grass even. Pine honey. Rye bread. Whole black pepper. Intense red fruitiness like a fortified red wine, even like ruby port. A bit of eucalyptus. Over time brown sugar and a slight pastry side. No fleeting complexity but enjoyable. 82 Palate Again red fruits; raspberry jam and cherry jam. Maraschino. Mahleb, nutmeg. Cinnamon. A bit of cardamom underneath. The ruby port comparison holds. White peppercorns from behind. Again a nice carameliness almost pulling the ruby port comparison towards madeira. Peppers rise over time. Eucalyptus is felt again over time. Nice medium body. Medium sweetness. I find the comparison I saw from another taster "like a drier Diplomatico" fitting. Good! 84 Finish Here similarly spicy, Christmas spices; red and white whole peppercorns. Cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon. Slight fresh mint. A length maybe a bit above medium. Tobacco. Medium-short finish. Cranberry and maraschino. Ginger powder. A very light balancing bitter touch. Quite enjoyable. 83 General impression A truly enjoyable discovery. The interplay of spice nuances and red fruits is quite pleasant. After column still rums that have gained complexity by overplaying, a hopeful and promising bottling. Proper pricing is a plus. Nice! 84 Total: 83 Price-performance: Good! Would I buy again?: I wouldn't say no to having a bit more of it.

Pleasant rum, but sipping it for a long time it becomes a bit monotonous and predictable. The sweet notes clearly come from aging in American oak barrels, which as we know tend to impart vanilla and sweet aromas to rum. The flavor remains unchanged from start to finish, and after the initial flavor bomb, nothing particularly interesting happens. Don't get me wrong, it is a good rum, but I find that its flavors are too dominated by the influence of the barrels and that it lacks real depth.

The nose included oak, cedar, and caramel. It had a warm oaky flavor, with hints of citrus. There was a burn at first, but then just a comforting warmth. While it should not be wasted mixed, it was pretty nice when I tried it, with the oak coming through as well. I appreciated that the bottle expressly noted no additives, coloring, or sugar added.
