"Unexpectedly very good" is the line that keeps surfacing — and so does surprise that this even tastes like Long Pond. People kept guessing Clarendon blind. Expect petrol and menthol up front, then yellow banana, orange peel, black tea and old varnished wood. Oily, dirty, a touch bitter on the finish. The 68% is buried well, but it gets medicinal and tannic.

The nose starts off with a good load of glue, which then gradually gives way to spices, mint and yellow fruit. Very intense, slightly astringent and somewhat medicinal in the mouth. For me, it almost goes in the direction of Clarendon. Slightly bitter finish. The high ABV is well integrated. Edit: I like it better every time. Also stands out clearly from the other tropical low ester LPs with some dirty and minty notes.

Rum Friendly Club Advent Calendar, day 18. A warm, rich nose with spices, varnished old wood, dried fruit and banana. Freshness (menthol?) balances out this beautiful nose. The palate is full and warm, with varnished cedar wood, dried fruit and vanilla. The finish is relatively short, with most of the aromas disappearing fairly quickly, but the bitter woodiness and vanilla linger for quite a long time. A fine rum with a beautiful nose and a slightly disappointing, less complex palate.

The nose is very restrained... I can faintly filter out delicate sour fruit, some wood and sourdough bread... The palate is quite different. Powerfully oily and heavy, it spreads out. A sweet/sour fresh note, followed by subtly resinous young wood and some spice fills the mouth before it leaves slightly bitter. A good LP, but it doesn't quite convince me

More like a dirty Long Pond, I would say. On the nose with gasoline. On the palate, mint and methol are added, which reminded me a little of T.D.L. Unfortunately, as always with Romdeluxe, simply too overpriced in my opinion.

Drinking it from the bottle in its homeland. It’s been opened on Saturday/Sunday and keeps getting better. Having it open here, allows the profile to evolve like a speeding train. It doesn’t get better than this

Insanely wacky Long Pond that I would definitely have guessed to be Clarendon blind. The alcohol is surprisingly well integrated. Aromatically a real 💥 explosion of strongly brewed black tea flavored with orange peel, plus black pepper, lots of menthol and a good load of dirty freshly spilled gasoline, as well as overripe almost fermented tropical fruits. A crazy number, albeit very unusual and not what I would have expected from a Long Pond 2006...

If a few solvents greet us here at first, they disappear after a few minutes and we find ourselves in the engine compartment again. A distinct smell of gasoline. The palate continues to be dirty. A dense, oily taste with a clear hint of mint and menthol. This is a highly exciting bottling that leaves the beaten track. Perhaps a little too bitter in the finish. But you should definitely try it.
