Most tasters land in the same spot: this is a "brachialer TECA" that hits with glue, nail polish and solvent before the pineapple and mango arrive. What surprises people is the palate — smoke, spice and a genuine bacon/ham savoury streak on top of the ester wall. A few love that, one found it too meaty to reach for. At only one year, the 64.8% burns through.

A brute TECA, which fills the nose with ester, glue (UHU) and varnish in the usual manner after a short breathing time... After this gush, various fruit aromas join in, whereby you can also clearly smell the barrel. Very good! The palate continues at the same pace! The alcohol could definitely be better integrated, because you can feel the almost 65% through and through! The finish is medium long and concludes with a mixture of esters, pineapple, light wood notes, bacon (😵💫) and caramelized honey sweets.

As you would expect from a TECA, solvents, adhesives and the like hit you right in the face. I perceive tropical and sour fruits, spices, but also musty/medical notes. For its "age", I find what the TECA delivers really amazing, but I would probably like it better with more time in the barrel.

The really next great Long Pond. So the nose is really ester-heavy. Then Jamaica Our on the palate. Ester, tropical fruits, really a great drop. Really very tasty this delicious top rum ;-)

A rum that really hits hard as it should! The nose is intense, funky as hell (esters, glue, solvents, nail polish) and fruity on the exotic side (pineapple, banana, mango) but with a hint of acidity. The wood has started to mark with leather and some spices that tickle the nostrils. A medicinal profile well developed for its age. You find an ultra concentrated mouth, powerfully funky: esters, nail polish, solvents and glue bring this chemical and intense side so typical of Mark TECA. The tropical fruits are well present to round it all off. Smoky and spicy effluves are also felt alongside a touch of minerality. A real tough guy who still goes down relatively well. The alcohol is very well integrated in this profile both suave and beastly. The finish is long, fresh, a bit chocolaty, and yet so tannic, esterified and chemical at the same time. Exotic fruits and spices accompany the finish until its very gradual decline. A young profile with great potential, a bit upfront but needs time to fully express itself.

The rum's short maturation is certainly noticeable. The alcohol is not quite so well integrated. But I just really like the marrow. (Overripe) fruit, spices (cinnamon), ester power, light sweetness. Lots of cinnamon, especially in the medium-long finish. Has great potential with long maturation.

I really like it. While the nose is still classic and pleasant (with cocoa/chocolate), I find the palate very complex with sweetness, spice, smoke and bacon, esters and chocolate. It's really fun. It then loses something in the finish. A wonderfully fresh TECA

A blatant TECA representative. Very special but I like it very much. Lots of fruit pineapple, mango papaya. Concentrated load of esters with a lot of glue. I also smell and taste something (not disturbing) smoky and meaty. It also has plenty of power ... Whether pure or in a cocktail, it's great stuff.

Strange one, this one is full of savoury, meaty notes - less prominent on the nose than the palate. The nose promises ester and pineapple with solvents and glue. Perhaps some sourness. The mouth delivers prominent smoke and meat, like bacon or ham. Also wood, spice, ester and some bitterness. Promising and interesting but not something I would find myself reaching for.

The nose starts off a bit sour (cherrys?), followed by a lot of wood and backing spices. Water is a good idea. On the palate it is bit sweeter than expected. Funky, some spices, dried tropical fruits, burned sugar and some solvents. I have to say that I like the combination of virgin Oak and high ester a lot. Spirit and finish are complimenting each are in a really balanced way.

At first nose, too much solvent, almost only that. Then a little hazelnut and beginning of light pastry aromas. Not very inspiring. But on the palate, much more exotic fruits, chocolate, caramel and a warm finish without burning, very successful.

On the nose glue, varnish, ripe and sweet tropical fruits, esters, well-cooked caramel and woodiness. The barrel must have marked well, we even detect a note of coconut. On the palate, it coats well and sticks to the teeth. Still on the aforementioned markers. The wood takes up a lot of space (without being disturbing), and even gives a quite marked astringency at the end of the mouth. Long finish mainly on wood and caramel. Incredible barrel work, this juice tastes much older than its stated age!

Nose: I was immediately struck by the smoky, hamy side. The tropical fruit is still there, but the ham and smokiness predominate for me. Palate: very doughy / fatty. Tropical fruit and smokiness very present. Still my impression of ham. Very UFO. Very destabilizing. A hint of spice / pepper. Between the smoky WTF and the greediness of the rest. Long finish. Turns to bitterness.

Salon Du Rhum 2024. Very nice nose. Great rum but disappears very fast. For this price I would recommend Velier LP STCE 2019.
