RumX Fiji Crosstasting April 2024 Tasted separately from the official line up. Currently in fourth place among the 2001 Vintages. This bottling has nothing to hide and comes across as a well-rounded and very complex overall package.

Wow, there are worlds between this difficult 2001 and the awesome 2001 from Spirit Gallery (RX24524) I tasted yesterday. Very surprising given the previous reviews. But this Fiji is very hard for me to swallow. It's definitely too sharp and far too little fruity, way too Versailles-style. Certainly a well-made rum (millions can't be wrong), but not my thing. Whatever. I'll stick to the great Fiji from Spirit Gallery.

Overall nice complexity, nice long finish, fruit only really comes into its own on the finish. Alcohol not perfectly integrated. Overall, this Fiji doesn't really win me over like others. I'm bothered by the strong barrel influence, which leaves behind a taste of wet wood. Also burnt plastic knots. Not the best of its vintage.

Excellent representative of the 2001 Fijis, pronounced profile with the expected complexity and all the typical markers of wood, spices and fruitiness. Only the final complexity is missing, otherwise this would be a new reference.

An absolute contrast to the fruity dry Fiji from Spirit Gallery. This one is absolutely dirty and somehow funky crazy with black tea notes. The finish is long. I really enjoy this rum!

Magnificent nose, very expressive and "Jamaican" with lovely esters. The fruit is dominated by juicy, sweet, pan-fried Victoria pineapple with butter. There are also aromas of marzipan, spices (white pepper, sweet pepper), glue sticks and even a very pleasant new plastic aspect. The first palate is lively, but the 59% reduction is kept in check for the rest of the tasting. Flavors of fresh pineapple and lemony butter linger long after the finish. The wood adds just the right amount of spice without obscuring the fresh, fruity acidity of the pineapple and star fruit. Slightly smoky finish adds depth. These old Fiji vintages are very good "Jamaican Rum" like.

Fiji Tasting with DomM This was the evening with the Plantation Fiji that I liked the most. A really good bottling. In my opinion, the alcohol is very well integrated and it tastes super delicious, almost too good. Thank you Tschusikowsky for the split, a good recommendation.

So then we have a nice Fiji rum. Definitely the esters are well recognizable here, otherwise we also have tropical fruits, but it is still quite woody, spicy and also metallic.

Ahh... There are the plastic and rubber notes! Plus nice sweetness, spices and, for me, just the right amount of wood. The alcohol is very dominant, almost a little disturbing. A Fiji with rough edges, very good.

Wow, what a masterful punch. The best Fiji I've tasted, so fruity, rich, metallic, spicy, an exceptional old melted wood, just the right amount of bite, tannins, and bitterness. Absolutely crazy, with those little olive notes I love so much, rubber, burnt, black tea... must buy urgently.

Delicious and absolutely recommendable, but for me not quite on the same level as the Antipode. It's a good point or two ahead again. The mix of dirt (rubber, plastic), fruit, sweetness and wood is more varied and coherent in the Antipodes. But they are both great.

Tasted blind. Disoriented by a very fruity and esterified nose but with a lot of indulgence and a surprising buttery side for a Jamaican. You had to turn to Fiji to understand. In the end, a rum that mixes exuberance and indulgence. A frankly metallic side. This kind of profile can quickly become cloying for me. This is really not the case here.

Fits seamlessly into the good quality of the 01 vintage. Fruity ester note with a slight honey sweetness. The plastic note is not as present as in the 2014 from Swell or the individual components simply harmonize better. However, it does not come close to the complexity of the Collection Antipode bottling.

The Fiji 2001 are generally well done, and this older bottling (22 years) is no exception! A superb rum with esters, tea and fruit as the main theme! A superb, complex length on the woody/buttery notes beautifully concludes the tasting!

Oh well... awesome stuff. Immediately in love. So much awesome complex ester. That's what I'm looking for. Fiji 2001 simply does not disappoint. Great combination of smoke, esters, fruit and herbal components. Total fruit explosion on the palate with menthol oiven mix. What can I say. A banger. An absolute grenade. If the finish were a little longer, I'd give it a nine.

Update compared to Fidji 2014 Swell, this one is in another category, I add +1 Not being used to Fidjis, I really liked this juice, Rubber notes combined with some herbal notes, tea. The alcohol is present without being disturbing It's a rum you absolutely have to try!!!!

Rum Friendly Club Advent Calendar Day 11. A nose with wild esters, tropical fruits way too ripe, solvents and glue. Sweetness and wood come to tame the beast. I'm almost afraid of the palate and even though it is quite lively, it is not as aggressive as the nose. The sweet and woody sides take over here. The finish is marked by a grilled, burnt side. A brutal rum, not really to my taste but quite interesting.

Tasted in salon du rhum Spa. It's in my top 5 from the weekend and I tried 10 Caronis 😁 I have a Fiji tooth and this one finds perfect balance between Fijian funk and barrel aging.

Very nice 2001 representative. Does not quite have the honey sweetness of the IdR, not quite the depth and complexity of the Antipode, but is nicely balanced and a great rum.

Rhum Tour 2025 As I underdtood Rock & Rhum is a tastingclub from Namur in Belgium. They started bottling some stuff in 2022. I love a good Fiji and this is a solid one. The nose is the best Fiji nose I ever had. Glue and fruit in harmony. The alcohol could be better integrated. With some water it's better but also the nose dissepears more. A bit too bitter in taste. That's why I don't think it's worth the retail price. Nice long finish.

Nice Fiji profile with the well-known ester notes, a bit of plastic. However, the aging has smoothed it out a bit, with some bitter notes from the wood added. Alcohol is well integrated, astringent. Would love to see more aged Fijis!

03/10/2026: tasted @ Salon du Rhum 2026. First time tasting something from this bottler, and was pleasantly surprised. Fiji can be either hit or miss, this 2001 vintage had enough dirtyness to make it complex, round and tasty.

I've rarely been afraid to try a sample, but this thing smells so much like burnt plastic, rubber, bicycle inner tubes and gasoline, it's really disgusting. Fortunately, the flavor has some dark chocolate and a slight fruitiness and olive. Overall, however, the gasoline and burnt plastic part is still very dominant here. If you like it extreme, this is the right place for you. Even as an otherwise Fiji fan, this is definitely too much for me 🤣🙈
