Very nice blend of Traditional, Grand Arôme and some Port Finish. Tropically matured for about 15 years. Thick and oily. Pleasant bitter tones in the finish. Really fun!

Amazing nose sooo fruity, almost water in taste. Rums from the Savanna distillery are some of my favorites. I recommend everyone try especially the ester-heavy pieces like Grand Arome or HERR. You haven't smelled that much fruit in just a few drops of liquid for a long time.

Rather restrained nose but then very heavy, concentrated, thick and oily on the palate. At the same time, many intense wood flavors meet green apple, strawberry, menthol, cinnamon and allspice, as well as burnt sugar and too long baked croissant😀🥐 overall for me too much wood influence, too bitter and not necessarily worth 250€... Nevertheless, an exciting example of old savanna blends!

Balanced blend, but still lacking a lot to become a top rum. Very alcoholic despite the 55%, too much for me. Otherwise a nice heavy rum that certainly has its fans. For me, however, Savanna stands for more delicate things than this heavyweight.

Savanna Masterclass for RumX 2024. Brown sugar, varnished wood, candied lemon, vegetal and apple form a beautiful, complex nose. A soft entry with toffee, vegetal and citrus. The wood is supportive but never dominant. The finish is long, harmonious and complex.

Comparison with the absolu 24: This one is clearly the denser rum, the more traditional profile may be a little more boring but in the end is at least on a par with its successor. Nice variety that Savanna offers here. RumX Savanna Masterclass 12.7. Clearly floral, traditional profile on the nose, which I personally like very much. Much more concentrated on the palate and above all spicier and with plenty of tannins. Nice menthol note on the finish. An exciting blend that just came out on top for me in the tasting because it is the most intense.

An unexpected release from Savanna, this rum offers a skilful blend between floral influences on the one hand (geranium, perfume, flowers) and more muscular spicy aromas (cinnamon, pepper). The fruitiness only comes later, at the same time as the port cask's roundness. A very enticing olfactory profile. If the nose was rather homogeneous, the attack on the palate is more unbalanced and lively, notably on the toasted woody side, but above all on the spices, which dominate here. The spicy notes go hand in hand with the roasted coffee to give a dark profile, strangely counterbalanced by fresher notes of agricultural greenery. The fruit is transparent, obliterated by the warmth of the spices and the agricultural freshness. The alcohol is fairly well integrated. The finish is persistent on wood, spices and roasted notes, but always with a vegetal background. Even if this isn't the best Savanna ever, it's a rum that offers an atypical, antinomian experience, and one that's sure not to leave fans indifferent.

Savanna Masterclass for RumX July 2024: Great rum that impresses with its aromatic density as soon as it is poured, but gains significantly more with a little time to breathe. Fascinating floral-perfumed notes, wood, fermented fruit, herbal aromas. A very successful release.

Nice on the nose providing complexity with lot of notes to discover. There is a distinct buttery sensation to it. Very nice. Very high intensity and complexity on the palate. All individual components of the blend add some distinct impacts making for a deep and rich profile.

Aftertaste of the missed Savanna Masterclass ... typical blend of traditional and Grand Arôme. Relatively tannic with a lot of bitterness on the finish but also very interesting. Not the best Savanna blend but very good to drink straight. But in no way worth the RRP.

A nice conclusion to this Savanna Masterclass. L'Absolu certainly has more to offer than the average rum. The nose and palate are beautifully spicy, woody and smoky. A nice end to this masterclass. Thank you Oliver and Sam for this opportunity :-)

Hmm, not really my cup of tea. Balanced & gentle nose, but rather aggressive palate. Astringent, alcoholic with some fruits and tannins. Finish a bit bitter and woody. You can feel the complexity, but feels a bit disjointed.

Thanks RumX for this incredible opportunity! The Absolu clearly exceeded my expectations and is perfectly to my taste. Lots of fruit, especially red fruits, but also a cognac side, and a finish lifted by mint, pepper, and tannins. The finish is a bit too short to reach a 9, but it’s a real favorite. ❤️

Great blend, although only Traditional is noted on the label, Grand Arome DNA is still present, or luckily takes over. Too bad the blend was diluted to 55%. Decent price, which is off-putting.

In direct comparison with the RX16505 on a par. Not quite as sweet, but that's not a bad thing. A very spicy rum that is really fun. Was a sample from the RumX Savanna competition. Many thanks for that.

👃 A mix of wood essence, barrel scents, spiced oak bringing cinnamon, vanilla pod and licorice stick. The fruity aspect is dominated by green apple (also candy apples from fairs) and a mix of red fruits. Caramel from fruit juices. Pineapple and citrus (lemon) very light. An obvious floral note (geranium, hydrangea), orchard fruit flowers and light dried mint leaf. Soft esters and light varnish from the GA. A quite complex nose that sweeps enough aromas to make this start of tasting pleasant. 😋 Intense, the start is very focused on a bitter woody note, even astringent, dry, tannic, spiced and rough barrel. Then, sweetness returns with the red fruits and green apple from the nose, in a somewhat more candied and caramelized facet (fairground sweets). The mid-palate comes with herbal and vegetal notes, on green tea, blond tobacco, a bit of green mint. A very woody and astringent mouth that might not please everyone. ⛳ Long, continuing on the woody characteristics, quite dark, bitter and tannic. Peppery spices, cooked vanilla, nuts, menthol. Dried fruits from the barrel, then a rather earthy and herbal finish. 💡 A blend that combines with good balance traditional rum, Grand Arôme and aging in a port cask. If you like when wood variations dominate (tannins, bitterness, astringency). 🏅 Slight preference for the Absolu 2024. Find a sample of the 2025 to compare.

Cool and exciting rum. Overall, it was my favorite among these samples. Still fruity on the nose, like chewing gum. Tobacco, earthy and woody profile, a bit of bourbon. Nice long but dry finish.

Clearly on the herbal side with a refreshing, almost tangy spicy note that really appeals to me. However, there is always a subtle soapy note that reminds me of a chewed coriander leaf or bitten Szechuan pepper, which makes me frown slightly. Nevertheless, a lovely rum. Savanna RumX Masterclass with Samuel Pitarch, 2024-07-12: My first impression is confirmed again. On the nose heavy, fruity sweetness mainly carried by the port cask. On the palate, the woody, astringent notes quickly take over. Not bad but not excellent either.

Tried in the RumX masterclass: Very restrained on the nose, but then the complete opposite on the palate - intense, woody, spicy. You can tell that older components are also included in the blend, giving the rum depth and complexity. A "grapey" finish is noticeable, at least one port cask seems to have been used here! The best of the five in the tasting and thus a good conclusion. Unfortunately, the price is again very high here. In this price range, the market sometimes offers even stronger bottlings, a pity!

Right after opening, the room fills with a grand aroma. A scent that invites you to pour a glass. Floral tones and red fruit notes on the nose, on the palate besides the above a peppery note, strong influence of port cask and a finish that turns bitter. An excellent Savanna, but not worth the price. The nose opens with a profusion of red fruits in syrup (Morello cherry), as well as apple, which made me wonder whether this rum had matured in a calvados cask. There's also a background of gourmet licorice. The palate follows this nose exactly, with a superb integration of alcohol that makes this an easy-drinking spirit. The finish is medium-bodied and generous on syrupy fruit and wood.

A very dark and woody Savanna. Licorice and leather at first. Then floral notes and discreet red fruit scents. On the palate, the woodiness is dominant. Lots of bitterness that takes over the palate. Tobacco and leather. Then small notes of very sweet red fruits. Long finish with very pleasant bitter notes. After a few seconds, the sweet notes remain. Superb.

Tasted on the ICE - the nose is at first unclear and clearly Savanna with some wood and apricot. I would guess that this bottling contains both rum from sugarcane juice and molasses. On the palate, besides vanilla and a slight woodiness, suddenly red fruit jelly, cherry and cocoa - so it goes somewhat in the direction of Black Forest cherry. And also works really well as a mixer. It is occasionally available at a reasonable price, but the MSRP of around 200 is a bit too much for me here.

Tasting in the masterclass. Very fruity nose. Red fruits with apple. Quite a lot of wood in the taste. Long and complex. Slightly bitter. Nice finish. A great rum, but probably not easily accessible to everyone. Slightly better on the re-tasting.

On the nose: perfum like floral note dominates. Green apples. Hints of licorice. A bit of woody notes too. Taste:Herbal, vegetal, hints of tobacco notes. Mixture of red fruits maybe. Green apples and apple notes on this one. There is some barrel influence in there and cognac notes too. Alcohol is integrated quite well. Good mouthfeel and easy to sip. Finish: Earthy, menthol, floral, mostly menthol. Quite dry and toasted. I would say long finish. Quite interesting bag of flavours on this one. I find quite hard to review this one and i mean it in a good way. Maybe not a all night sipper for me thou. The quality is there and i think its in a very good rum category. I have to come back to this rum for a second round.

I quite like this one on the first sip. It's also close to last year's VAST, which I also liked. A bit more power would do it good, but otherwise a successful mix of fruit and herbs.

It's really very good, rich with port without being cloying at all, it's very refined. This is the third time I've tasted it, and the GA comes out more and more as the bottle oxidizes. The 55 proof is perfect for this blend. A truly beautiful rum.

Nice blend of traditional c20 rum, traditional S (Savalle) and Grand arome. One Trad C20 has aged in a Porto Cask. This rum needs oxydation, so be patient with your bottle, dont kill it too fast and you could amazed

17/09/2025: online Savanna Masterclass by Rhumlicious. A great blend of Traditionnel, Grand Arôme and a port finish. I liked this heavier, darker style of Savanna a lot because it was different than the rest. Alcohol could have been integrated a bit better.
