Damoiseau Blanc

"A vrai rhum blanc à Ti-Punch" is how one member sums it up, and most agree — this is a workhorse agricole built for cocktails, not the tasting glass. Expect grassy cane, lime, pepper and a floral edge, with the 50% alcohol sitting right up front. Rested a few months in wooden tuns before it's brought down with spring water.

Grassy, peppery cocktail agricole with a fiery bite Most treat it as a classic Ti-Punch and mojito base with a typical agricole profile. Sipped neat the alcohol dominates, and a few find it turns dry, metallic and hot toward the finish.

This pure cane juice rum from Guadeloupe has an ABV of around 70% when it leaves the column still to be stirred and aerated for a period of 3 to 6 months in large wooden tuns whereafter it’s bottled after reduced to 50% by adding spring water. The nose is full of cane, fruity and a little spicy with aromas of lime and pepper. At the palate and during the rather long finish it’s round, balanced, dry, fruity and spicy with flavors of melon, lime and pepper. Overall it’s so round that it not needs any cane syrup when you use it in a Ti’ Punch.

The nose has a big hit of grassy sugarcane mixed with fresh berries and a sweet floral note. The palate is quite earthy, peppery and with some pineapple notes that turn smoky towards the back end. The finish is pretty mid in length. Very mouth drying. Licorice at first then freshly cracked black pepper. Overall, the nose was better than the rest of the experience. A bit too dry, earthy and spicy for me.

7,8/10 Punkte

A white agricultural rum from Guadeloupe, this Damoiseau is a little strong on the palate, but goes well with rhums arrangés or ti-punch, even if it's better to use a rum from Martinique.

Gute Nase und erster Geschmackseindruck, nach hinten leider zunehmend metallisch und alkoholisch werdend, daher keine klare Empfehlung. Auch im Ti‘Punch nur Mittelmaß.

Great value for money rhum blanc agricole. Delivers what expected from a basic white rum with an overall interesting profile
