#5005 28.12.2024 Enjoying a few samples while home alone 😊 Nose Intense, Agricole, grass, light fuel, overripe, fruits, sugarcane, light sour, light funk. Palate Oily, medium intense, Agricole, light grass, spice, medium spicy, sugarcane, light herbs, fruity. Finish Long and warm, Agricole, medium spicy, spice, sugarcane, oily. The empty glass has nice vanilla and floral notes.

This pure cane juice rum from Guadeloupe has an ABV of around 70% when it leaves the column still to be stirred and aerated for a period of 3 to 6 months in large wooden tuns whereafter it’s bottled after reduced to 50% by adding spring water. The nose is full of cane, fruity and a little spicy with aromas of lime and pepper. At the palate and during the rather long finish it’s round, balanced, dry, fruity and spicy with flavors of melon, lime and pepper. Overall it’s so round that it not needs any cane syrup when you use it in a Ti’ Punch.

A white agricultural rum from Guadeloupe, this Damoiseau is a little strong on the palate, but goes well with rhums arrangés or ti-punch, even if it's better to use a rum from Martinique.

An agricole that I like to use as a mixer where it also makes the best impression for me. Sure, there is also an upgrade there but price-performance always plays a major role in the home bar or commercially. I am satisfied and can definitely recommend the rum.

The nose has a big hit of grassy sugarcane mixed with fresh berries and a sweet floral note. The palate is quite earthy, peppery and with some pineapple notes that turn smoky towards the back end. The finish is pretty mid in length. Very mouth drying. Licorice at first then freshly cracked black pepper. Overall, the nose was better than the rest of the experience. A bit too dry, earthy and spicy for me.

👉 On the program: Damoiseau Blanc 50% Distilled at Bellevue, in Le Moule (Grande-Terre), Damoiseau is the only distillery still active in this part of Guadeloupe. Since 1942, it transforms pure fresh cane juice (sometimes molassed) into rums that today represent 50% of rum sales in Guadeloupe. Needless to say, the 50% holds a king's place 👑 🛠️ Process: From fermentation and distillation of pure cane juice, it comes out of the column at 88%. Then, 3 to 4 months rest in oak casks, stirring, aeration... The aromas refine, volatiles escape, and finally a gentle reduction with spring water to 50%. A real crafted white, not just "straight from the column." Clearly made for Ti-Punch and planters more than pure tasting... but it can surprise 😏 🌴 Profile: ➡️ Round cane ➡️ Exotic fruits ➡️ Pinch of pepper 🥃 A real white rum for Ti-Punch. Neat I find grassy and floral aromas, lemon and some anise. The alcohol is clearly in the foreground. In punch I would also tend to classify this rum as "normal." Flavor-wise actually a good punch, but the strong alcohol influence bothers me a bit. 7.8/10 points

A firey white rum that I have had the pleasure of tasting . Floral notes , green olives and then comes the alcohol . This is a great cocktail base especially for a mojito that packs a punch
