Whisky Live 2025 - to be tasted again to confirm score and notes. One of the highlights of WLP 2023, finally is coming. I love how much the fruitiness of Domiaine de Charron adds to the profile of this rum. Very good despite the price.

In a slightly different range, Montebello here blends prestigious white wine casks with rum. The nose is meant to be soft and delicate, carried by the wine cask which brings roundness. The spices (cinnamon, chili, vanilla) and dried fruits (raisin) support a rather indulgent profile that changes a bit from the usual agricultural standards. The profile is generally similar on the palate. You find the spices seasoning the tongue, the melted and pleasant woodiness in the mouth, but it’s the citrus and apricot notes that stand out more. The sugar cane also comes through to support the profile. The profile is soft, a bit drier on the palate but perhaps lacks a bit of complexity, body, and impact in the mouth. The alcohol is rather well integrated. The finish is moderately long, dry and more agricultural. The spices and toasted wood follow the caramel and sugar cane in an end of mouth that remains light and without much spectacle. A rather pleasant rum that changes things up a bit, but the quality and premium positioning do not justify the unreasonable price of this bottle.
