The surprise here is how much it drinks like peach-apricot liqueur rather than rum. Canned peaches, apricot and vanilla over a thick, sweet body — one taster called it "eingekochte Fanta Orange" (cooked-down orange soda). Fruit lovers find it lovely; plenty of others say the sugar buries anything rum-like and a few still catch a hot, alcoholic edge underneath.

Initially very alcoholic on the first sniff, but it fades. Apricot dominates. I think of chocolate raisins. For me, typical A.H. Rise. What you smell, you taste. Only instead of peach, it now tastes like apricot. Exactly my thing. A great rum.

Day 4 of my Christmas Calendar. Still a very sweet and fruity rum withe some Christmas spices in the profile. ----------- Almost like the regular XO bit still too sweet for me. Almost like liquid candy in a kind of way.

This liqueur-like A.H. Riise also comes across very sweet. Peach/apricot notes dominate smell and taste. For me, it ranks in the middle region of the portfolio. Too lacking in facets for higher ranks, it lacks some character...

Considered a rum-based spirit, this XO juice finished in Sauternes casks is extremely sweet. The nose flirts with fruit brandies like peach and apricot. Vanilla, sugar and caramel are not far behind, hinting at a tampered juice. There's no doubt about it on the palate: the Sauternes cask has taken its toll, resulting in a very syrupy, very sweet juice (sugar addition confirmed) that disrupts the palate. With its syrupy texture, sweet flavors and fruity alcoholic effluvia, this beverage tends to be nauseating after a few sips. The finish is no exception, being relatively short and linear along the same lines. There's a hint of chocolate, honey and cognac, but the taste doesn't change much. A drink where you need to move on quickly to avoid diabetes.

Diese auf Rum basierte Spirituose ist ein Blend aus verschiedenen Destillaten von den West Indischen Inseln und Zentralamerika. Mit 42% ist er nach dem gleichen Rezept wie der ursprüngliche „XO Reserve Superior Cask“ von Riise. Der Heugeschmack ist schon einzigartig (bis jetzt für mich) und hebt sich daher von der Masse der süßen „Rums“ ab. Für mich ist er zu süß aber meine Frau findet ihn super, also gut für Einsteiger :-). Fazit: Meine Frau und Gäste werden ihn mögen und ich werde ihn wieder kaufen.

A smell of canned peaches and Passoa liquor. In the taste also candied orange. A light spiciness as well, but most of all extremely sweet as is the case with this whole range.

Nope, one of the worst. The taste of riise is there but weirdly twisted with some sort of synthetic sweet flavor I cannot describe. For me this one is a no no. Only positive about this one is a short finish. Thank god for that

Time to try a Riise again. I like sweet rum and Riise is always a good choice for me. So far, no Riise has disappointed me, always sweet, but with many different flavors depending on the variety, from fruit to toffee to chocolate, etc. All are tasty but not really complex. This Riise belongs to the fruit category. Fruity and sweet, with peach dominating especially. Relatively mild and there’s some toffee flavor mixing with the peach flavor. Definitely tasty, but just Riise, so I never really know if you can call it a good rum.

On the nose, it's alcoholic, after settling the strength fades and a pleasant sweetness appears. There's also vanilla, citrus in the aroma, the taste is pleasantly fruity, raisins, chocolate... Can't say no: typical A.H. Riise.

Well, it's just an over-sugared Riise. This one is also very sweet. Adjusted downwards, no more Riise recommendations for the deal of the day. But it's also sugar water. In summary, it's just that completely over-sweetened and artificial taste that completely dominates.

This rum was recommended to me in a consultation. Overall a bit sweet for my taste, but fits the fruity note of apricots. The finish is mild and medium-long. Those who like fruity rum will enjoy this.

Very fruity nose with sweet and slightly alcoholic note. Then the fruit convinces and changes in the finish to a sharp alcohol note that lingers for a long time. A pity that the fruit note disappears quickly.

I don’t know how you can manage with so many grams of sugar that almost every bottling still tastes alcoholic, but they succeeded here. Otherwise, it tastes like concentrated Fanta Orange and extremely artificial flavors...

Here the same rating applies as for the 1888 Copenhagen. You could almost confuse them. Finally a Riise that I like 😉 Color like pale gold. The smell of peach, orange, and apricot. The taste is dominated by fruitiness. Nicely mild. Finally not the typical Riise smell and taste. But still with a lot of sugar.

One of the first rums I was given. Since I've tasted many other things, my palate has evolved and I like this rum much less than before. Too sweet and no length. Still pleasant and smooth on the palate with its liqueur-like side but suited for beginner palates!
