Sipped neat at cask strength, this drinks fresher and greener than the amber colour suggests — sugar cane, cut grass and clear citrus up front, with real oak from around five years in barrel. One taster puts it on the "darker side" of Neisson: dark fruit, older wood, dry finish, and the 58.8% sits surprisingly well integrated. Grassy and firmly agricole, so know what you're in for.

Direct comparison between Neisson Single Cask 249 and Cask 258. Neisson simply always delivers. Again two great rums and surprisingly quite different. Cask 249 goes in the direction of profile 107: sugar cane, light fruits, vanilla, buttery, creamy, young wood and grassy. Somewhat wild and alcoholic on the palate and finish. 82 points. Cask 258 is definitely on the dark side of the aroma game in comparison. Also sugar cane, dark fruits with old wood, dry on the palate and finish. The alcohol is much better integrated here. 85 points.

Neisson already has a high quality. I would compare it to Foursquare, which always delivers at a very high level, and Neisson does the same. Unfortunately, I'm not the biggest Agricole fan. It's good, but it doesn't really pick me up.

Great Agricole, I like it a lot. You can immediately recognize it as Agricole on the nose, otherwise there are citrus fruits and it's very fresh and grassy. On the palate, the same game continues, but you can also detect some black tea.

Relatively fresh Neisson with a citrus nose - caramel only very far in the background. Then nutty on the palate and some licorice on the back. Typically Neisson high level without any off-notes, but it doesn't appeal to me - but I'm also not a big Agricole fan or connoisseur

A powerful agricole that has been given a good dose of oak in its approx. 5 years of maturation, but is far from being over-aged. The basic orientation always remains fresh and grassy with a recognizable citrus fruitiness, which in combination with the clear barrel influence creates a harmonious overall picture. I would prefer a few more tropical fruit flavors, but even so, this is a fine rhum.

Two days ago I tried the Neisson No 253 as a sample and now this one from the freshly opened bottle for comparison. Very beautiful deep golden color, but I also like this classic Neisson presentation. It's just something for the eye as well. On the nose, despite the rather young age, it feels round. The ABV well tamed. Aromas of oak, caramel notes, a certain citrus freshness and agricole notes. Inviting. On the palate also surprisingly mild and you can take a generous sip right away. ABV much better integrated than in the 253. Here, alongside the barrel/wood notes, vegetal agricole aromas equally present. All underlaid with a well-dosed mix of cane sugar sweetness and burnt sugar. The finish medium-long, first on wood and spice, replaced by vegetal aromas and cane sugar sweetness. Not an outburst of complexity, but very pleasant to drink and you immediately want another glass. I like it better than the 253 because of the well-integrated ABV and the more present agricole aromatic profile. For a relaxed evening.
