Der Einfluss des Islay Malts ist sehr dominant. Beim Eintreffen im Mund explodiert eine torfige Rauchbombe. Erst durch viel Kauen kommt noch ein bisschen was vom Rum durch. Muss man schon abkönnen, aber mir gefällt es. Plantation Masterclass-Onlinetasting am 04.04.24, vielen Dank an das RumX-Team.

Guyana plus Rauch, das ist wild. Rauchig, speckig, irgendwo durchbrochen von Frucht und minimaler Minze. Weitaus süßer als erwartet, dann Guyana, und hintenrum kommt dann der Rauch. Und wie. Weiterhin süß, aber im Prinzip steht man hier mitten in der Räuchefkammer. Wild. Und großartig wenn man drauf steht. Finish bleibt dann ähnlich, Rauch und Süße die sich nicht ganz einig werden können. Mir persönlich gefällt das sehr, verstehe aber auch jeden der hier komplett aussteigt.

Yes Baby, ist jedenfalls ein richtig geiler Plantation. Holz ohne Ende,aber das war ja erwartbar. Na ja ist jedenfalls sehr rauchig dieser Rum. Holz ist hier überwiegend zu schmecken. Auf jeden Fall sehr lecker.

8:On the nose, the first impression we get is smoky, ashy, but much more restrained as in real Islay whisky.Subtle notes of iodine, sulphur are paired with dried fruits.A hint of bacon also creeps in, some cinnamon, beeswax, slightly burnt cloves, a hint of vanilla. The wood is charred with caramel, chocolate, roasted nuts, some burnt sugar, very creamy, oily. The molasses is vegetal with herbal, grassy, minty notes. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is powerful with cold smoke like from a burnt-out cigar, salt, tobacco, leathery tones, some smoked bacon again, plus typical rum notes of brown sugar, fruit and a hint of coconut in the background, very oily and round.The molasses is vegetal, a bit bitter with herbal, minty notes and black tea.The wood is roasted and toasted, spicy with candied caramel, chocolate, nuts, perhaps nougat.Tasty and creamy. 8,2:The finish is long with light smoke, charred wood notes like chocolate, candied caramel, nuts.The fruits are dried, the rum dry, musty. #4686 04.04.2024 Online tasting wit RumX and Plantaray. Nose Wood, light anise, plum, spice, light medicinal, peat, light smoke. Palate Light, peat, sweet, light wood, fruity, smoke, light salt. Finish Medium long, light wood, peat, smoke, berries, light nutts. The empty glass has some mint and light cinnamon.

Ahhh.... muss ich 200 Zeichen schaffen? Zu viel Torf. Vor allem am Gaumen. Das Fass hat den Rum getötet. Kann man bestimmt für ein Whisky Tasting nutzen. Ansonsten nur für Liebhaber für Rums mot starkem Singel Malt Einfluss.

The bars newest rum-edition at the point of tasting. Spicy and slightly peated in the nose. In the notes it's very peated, with some hints of berries and molasses. Even the bartender was unsure if it was rum or whisky at the first go

RumX Masterclass mit Alexandre Gabriel. Hmm, hier übertönt das „Finish“ leider jeglichen Rum. Die erdige Torfigkeit gepaart mit cremiger Malt Süße lässt vom eignetlichen Destillat nicht viel übrig. Schade um den guten Rum :(

Was ist das? Irgendwie kein Rum mehr! Gefühlt haben wir hier das Spülwasser eines Aschenbechers im Glas. Purer Rauch und wenn überhaupt etwas Whisky-Aroma. Das soll Rum sein? Alexandre erklärt uns seine Gedanken zu dieser Abfüllung, zu diesem Love-or-Hate-Rum. Und während er so erzählt, zeigt er uns auch die Veränderung dieses Stoffs: Je länger er im Gls ist, umso mehr verzieht sich der Rauch, der Whisky wird plötzlich doch zu etwas Rum! Dezente Fruchtigkeit, die manche Whiskytrinker gerne hätten, kommt hier zum Vorschein. Nicht mein Ding, aber weil es so krass ist, gibt es immerhin noch 70 Punkte, geschmacklich liege ich drunter!

Planteray RumX Masterclass by Alexandre 04.04.2024: Eines vorneweg: die Whisky-Noten schwächen sich etwas ab, wenn man das Glas über Nacht stehen lässt. Aber auch dann kommt von dem Rum kaum etwas durch. Und leider ist es eine Whisky-Art die mir nicht zusagt. Insgesamt nicht wirklich meins…

In der Nase süß, würzig, torfig. Eigentlich ganz angenehm. Am Gaumen dann wirklich "peated" der Rum findet nicht mehr viel statt. Vielleicht würde diese Abfüllung bei WhiskyX bessere Punktzahlen erhalten. Ich würde sagen kann man Mal probieren muss ich aber nicht noch einmal 😀

Well... Not for me! I am not a fan of islay cask matured Rum. I taste ash and more ash. The smell is quite promising, but the taste... Alas not as bad as others like this I already tasted, but again the ash does mute all fruit that might be there. I guess it has its fans, but not me.

Hmm, if I want whisky flavor, then I go for whisky and not for rum that has been stored in a whisky barrel. Strictly speaking, almost all rums are aged in whisky casks - in bourbon casks. But this one was aged in an Islay whisky cask. It's a matter of taste, it's not my cup of tea. However, I admit, for what it is, it's not bad. Good candidate for a submarine in a whisky tasting 😁 Addendum: Unfortunately again with noticeable added sugar

Durch das ich auch ab und zu gerne mal Whisky trinke schmeckt mir der Rum eigentlich ganz gut. Es hat aber definitiv nichts mit Rum zu tun. I könnte nichts Guyana typisches erkennen. Deutlich besser als Beispiel ist.der The Rum Cask Jamaica mit Laphroig Finish.
