Tasted this rum at the Rhum Fest Paris 2026. It’s a blend of three vintage rums, 2008, 2013 and 2018. The nose is round, complex, balanced, rich, woody, fruity, spicy, citrus, prunes, raisins, passion fruit and vanilla. At the palate it’s round, complex, balanced, woody, spicy, fruity, roasted and herbal with flavors of vanilla, leather, oily, prunes, citrus, tobacco and chocolate. The finish is remarkable long.

#5761 28.09.2025 Day two of the Whisky Live 2025, which this year looks better organized/arranged inside. This is also a pretty nice release but I think the price tag is a bit high. Nice roasted wood with spices, fruits and some green notes as well as light tobacco notes.

Un peu comme le successeur du Grand Diplomate, cette version Ambassadeur est censée offrir une expérience supérieure à ses prédécesseurs. Et pourtant, ce n’est pas toujours le cas. Le nez est plutôt agricole, porté par les arômes végétaux et herbacés, de la canne, des agrumes et des fruits secs mais aussi des épices et du boisé. Le profil fait ainsi très basique, sans grande extravagance, à la fois doux et sec aux narines. La bouche souligne le côté sec avec un penchant pour la verdure et le tabac, la canne à sucre, les épices et le cuir, qui accompagnent les pruneaux et les agrumes. Le profil est sec mais demeure un peu fade et clairement pas au niveau attendu d’un Ambassadeur, ça manque de complexité et de conviction au palais. L’alcool est pas mal intégré malgré tout. La finale n’est pas très longue et ne propose rien de révolutionnaire. Bois toasté, épices douces (poivre, vanille), pruneaux, agrumes et verdure sur la canne à sucre se retrouvent en fin de bouche pour une conclusion peu spectaculaire mais sans réelle bavure. Ce n’est pas un mauvais rhum, mais pour une édition spéciale on pourrait s’attendre à davantage, alors que des éditions moins prestigieuses peuvent faire mieux, surtout pour le prix.

On the nose I have the impression of a rather old, dry and woody rum. Prune, vanilla. Overall sensations confirmed on the palate. It's definitely a pure Guadeloupe juice well marked by the wood. A bit too light in my opinion but successful.
