Masterclass with Alexandre Gabriel on 04.04.2024. Plantation becomes Planteray. Another whisky finish that I personally don't like at all. In contrast to the Guyana at the tasting, not so intrusive. Nice, but nothing I would need right now.

Erneut ein stimmiges Release mit klarer Positionierung: Man zielt auf Liebhaber von süssen Rums ab, die aber gerne auch ein wenig mehr an aromatischer Komplexität haben möchten. Das funktioniert gut und wird berechtigterweise seine Freunde finden, mir bleibt das Gesamtpaket etwas zu unspektakulär - das ist aber ein strikt subjektives Urteil.

#4684 04.04.2024 Online tasting wit RumX and Plantaray. Nose Sweet, fruity, light glue, light peat, faint smoke, light wood, faint caramel. Palate Light, light wood, light peat, light smoke, fruity, sweet, warm, light caramel, light mint. Finish Long, sweet, light wood, faint smoke, light peat, citrus. Very thick and slow moving curtains in the glass. The empty glass has some malt and stronger whisky notes.

Wanderung durch das Geisterholz in Oelde. Schöner Platzregen gerade :-( In der Nase jedenfalls sehr fruchtig dieser Plantation, außerdem ist Holz erkennbar. Am Gaumen dann wirklich überwiegend Whisk, ansonsten noch Karamell, Vanille und Gewürze.

Dieser SC hat nur ein Jahr tropische Reifung hinter sich. Der Rest kontinental im Whisky und Cognac Fass. Interessante würzige Aromen kommen durch, starker Whisky Einfluss aber ganz angenehm. Am Gaumen spürbar dann auch das Cognac Fass mit viel roter Frucht, der Whisky Einfluss jedoch bleibt deutlich und dominiert auch das Finish. Interessante Abfüllung die deutlich von beiden kontinentalen reifungen geprägt ist. Durchaus gelungen.

Ich kann die zum Teil schlechten Bewertungen nicht ganz nachvollziehen. Allerdings bin ich durchaus auch manchmal für Whisky zu begeistern. Ein ganz einfacher easy Sipper. Keinerlei Rauch für mich zu spüren von daher wohl eher kein Machrie Moor Fass. Insgesamt dominieren die klassischen Barbadosnoten mit ein wenig mehr Würzigkeit vom Scotch.

OK. The guys at Plantation / Planteray obviously know their job, if it is doing a blend appealing to the casual drinker dipping into the connoisseur part of the rum market. The only thing artificial here is the sweetness, and possibly the alcohol (sometimes it was a bit sharp as if it had been added after the fact). To sweet for real rum enthusiasts it is on par for all those that like Zacapas, Botucals and similar rums that like to have some other dimensions on the palate. It simply works as a blend, and while I would like it as a beginner I am sure nowadays I would be bored with a whole bottle very soon, as it is tasty but a bit one dimensional (for me). The Whiskey part is not too obvious and to the face, and thus I have not really an option towards or against it.

Mhhhhh da kann man gar nicht soviel zu sagen. Geruch holz und süß mit paar fruchtigen Noten. Geschmack auf jedenfall scharf, Vanille süß und sehr dünn. Vom wiskeyfass schmecke ich nichts, Gott seit dank😅

Toller Barbadosrum mit den typischen Aromen, gepaart mit einem Whiskey-Finish, das dezenter eingearbeitet wurde und als eine Art Erweiterung oder Ergänzung gesehen werden kann. Ein Experiment, wenn man will. Ob jetzt gelungen oder nicht, das Ergebnis lässt sich gut trinken.

5 Jahre im Arran-Fass (also Whisky), dafür ist das hier erstaunlich rund. Ganz im Gegensatz zum Big Peat ist hier das Finish dezent und gut eingearbeitet. Der Rum bekommt eine malzige Süße, dazu eine leichte Rauchigkeit. Das kann man durchaus trinken ;-)

An der Nase ist zu Beginn nicht viel los, ein paar gelbe Früchte und aufdringlicher Alkohol. Nach einer Weile kommen ein paar Gewürze und Zitrusfrüchte dazu. Am Gaumen übernimmt das Fass mit vordergründige Würze und Tanninen. Auch hier habe ich einen unangenehm starken alkoholischen Eindruck. Der Nachklang ist mittellang und Würze und Tannine dominieren Mittelmäßiger Rum an dem ich nicht viel Positives finde.

RumX masterclass Planteray, 4.4.24, live mit Alexandre Gabriel. Der lag die längste Zeit, 5 Jahre, in einem Arran-Fass. Dafür ist dieses Fass ganz schön zurückhaltend. Nase: recht zurückhaltend und ausgeglichen fruchtig, holzig, würzig, floral. Hat fast etwas von Parfüm. Beim genauen hinriechen kann man auch den Whisky leicht vernehmen. Insgesamt hellfruchtig mit grünem Apfel und Aprikose, Vanille und einer sehr dezenten Rauch-Note. Trotz gutem abv, etwas langweilig. 6,8 Gaumen: wirkt anfangs etwas alkoholisch und auch der Whisky kommt durch. Holzig und erwas bitter, aber auch süß mit Orange und grünem Apfel. Insgesamt leider etwas flach und eindimensional. 6,8

Sehr süße Aromen an der Nase, massig helles Karamell und Vanille. Erinnert absolut an Creme brûlée. Am Gaumen kommt definitiv der Alkohol zu stark durch. Dazu ähnliche Aromen wie an der Nase. Etwas zu eindimensional und „langweilig“. Ansonsten vermutlich ein schöner einstiegsrum aufgrund der Süße.

Plantation/Planteray RumX online masterclass: 5y arran finish are definitely noticeable but less dominant than expected. Very surprising that there is really 0g sugar in it, as I perceived an intense sweetness. The arran finish brings slightly herbal, malty and smoky notes without finally dominating the rum with coconut/banana and some citrus fruits. All in all, not quite my cup of tea, even though it is a successful blend. For me, this is one of the better whisky finishes, even if I'm not a scotch fan. The alcohol is also surprisingly well integrated.

Plantation Masterclass. Bei diesem Barbados mit Whisky Finish hat mich überaschenderweise (weil ich Scotch Whisky hasse) das Finish gar nicht mal so gestört … fand es sigar ganz nett. Etwas dünn ist er und nicht sehr komplex, aber sehr gut trinkbar. Auch kein störender Zucker wie beim El Salvador.
