Agricole drinkers who like a little smoke will get the most out of this Depaz XO. It leans woody and dry, with dried fruit, orange peel, black tea and tobacco, plus a soft peaty edge from a Laphroaig cask that stays in the background. One taster called it a top of the salon; another found the nose weak and the whole thing a bit generic for Depaz.

Tasted at Rhumfest Paris 2026. I only tasted this one and the private cask 2015 which I loved. In this bottle you find woodiness and a little whisky side, dried fruits and orange, it has the peculiarity of bringing out a bit of tobacco and peat.

The nose lacks some power, it hardly comes out of the glass. Seems riper and darker than the 2011 45% tasted in parallel. Spicy on the mouth, then it becomes floral and soapy - the failed Saint James-Velier series greets. Citrus fruits. Short, light finish. Easy-drinking, pleasing Agricole, but the profile is quite generic, hardly any Depaz feeling. I like the 2011 45% tasted in parallel better.

On the nose marked notes of citrus and fruit. Oak and whisky. Interesting. On the palate, you find the markers of the nose before the whisky takes over and dominates the play. Very marked, almost peaty at the end of the mouth.

#7401 25.09.2026 - 28.09.2026 Attending the Whisky Live in Paris 2026 with a few good friends. We had a great time and it was nice to introduce them to this event which was a first for them. Quick notes while tasting. Balanced, spice, roasted wood, chocolate, leather, coffee, tobacco, faint smoke and peat.

One of the highlights of the show, a good mix of dried fruit and orange, a hint of coffee added to a veil of smoke, I really enjoyed it, and it's a great match for a cigar, that's for sure.

This one was aged in 4 kinds of barrels, including a small 120L Laphroaig one. Even though I am not a fan of peated finishes in rum, I must say, that if I sensed some hints of peat at all, it was quite hidden in the background letting the rum itself shine through. The smokiness is not overpowering but adds depth by kind of muting some of the floral notes in my point of view. The nose is wonderfully fruity with ripe apricot, nectarine, dark cherry, and plum, followed by wood, vanilla sugar, and sweet spices. The palate reveals salted caramel, grapes, and a gentle woodiness with hints of black raspberry. The finish brings forward bold wood notes, milk chocolate, dried citrus, and a slight sherry touch
